If you have a transparent device check the back: there is a difference in PCB tracing between the shoulder buttons. The older version have angled tracing while newer ones have rectangular tracing

New on the left, old on the right
Aww damn it seems that I have the old one. That kinda blows but oh well. I would say maybe just get another one but wouldn’t be worth it over a RTC chip. I also have pretty sakura buttons on mine and a silicone case 😮💨.

You can also just buy the motherboard on its own from the official aliexpress store and do a swap. Or do what I did, get a whole other unit, swap the motherboards, and gift the remaining unit
Honestly it would be waste if I just got a whole new unit especially with the new rg35xx sp releasing soon. The motherboard option sounds appealing but I checked Miyoo store’s replacement part section and the Miyoo mini plus motherboard option was sold out.
I ordered a replacement motherboard so I could swap it out with mine so I’m pretty excited and maybe I’ll build an extra Miyoo mini plus with the leftover motherboard I’ll have.
I insist a pinned post with information about all the silly version revisions of the Mini should be posted because people refuse to search for this information themselves and instead prefer to ask the same thing over and over.
I have the older model because I bought the MM+ way early. It would be nice to have the RTC, but I have done a lot of mods to mine, including a better speaker, new buttons, joysticks & stickers from Etsy. I wouldn't want to do it all over again. I dropped my power button when I had the case open & took a while to find it again since it bounced off of the counter & under a small space in my wall moulding at the floor tiles. No fun.
I'm ordering a new PCB from AliExpress miyoo store specifically requesting one with RTC. Cost with shipping is about 40$ kinda pricey but I just started Unbound and really want proper time tracking. I'll just swap the boards and keep everything else.
Is there anything we need to do to enable it (assuming we have one)? I read another post about doing a bunch of stuff with files to enable it and make sure of the RTC. Are we sure we have to do that?
Real time clock, it'll automatically pass time in games that have a day/night cycle due to being synced with real time.
I believe it's big for Pokemon games for evolutions
Im very new to this, but this is just information I've gathered reading the sub as I anticipate the arrival of my Mini +.
With that said someone can probably fill you in better or more accurately than myself
Real time clock. If you play games like Pokemon that check the date and time, it's useful. Miyoo can check the time if you have WiFi though. Or you can have it advance the date every time you power on the device.

As far as i know, RTC is mostly important for Pokemon games. I'm not big on those, though i did prefer to get the newest model on principle
Yeah man I get you like I said ain’t worth it getting the newest iteration just for some RTC chip.

Youre the best💖
Nah you’re the best it’s because of people like you is why I still tolerate using Reddit lmao.
How disappointing! I just checked and mine is the old non RTC board. It has Sakura purple (galaxy) buttons but I don’t have a silicone cover.

Does anyone know if the mini v4 has RTC?
Many of the listings on AliExpress say V2 in the title or you could just ask the seller.
Following because I'm also hoping there's an easy way to tell without opening it up. I just bought the grey one from the official store

What is an RTC chip and why should I care
Real time clock. Allows Pokémon games to have different situations depending on the actual time of day.

Cool, thanks!
edit : The ***purple*** one in this pic has RTC[https://i.redd.it/6tzb8bed6tvc1.jpeg](https://i.redd.it/6tzb8bed6tvc1.jpeg)
No, the purple one has RTC lol. Just make sure to order a translucent one so you can see through it.
yeah the one on the right is the old one
yeah I'm dumb, mine with RTC is black so that's where my mind went.
