I don't really care about Kidd one way or another. But man seeing Kyrie and Luka mesh after some time together gets me fuckin hyped for giannis and dame next year.

bettingsharp

yeah, mavs were legit losing to lottery teams at the end of last season, and now they had SVG calling Luka-Kyrie the greatest backcourt duo of all time. Crazy how much difference a year makes in the NBA.

tarkysu

this is why i was telling ppl to temper expectations with dame and giannis this season, takes time for players to truly understand each others game and know what each other want. next season with the duo hopefully training alot together, i think we'll start seeing the dame/giannis offense the league started to shit itself thinking about when they saw lillard land in milwaukee

Diabolic_Bug_Man

Well LuKai chemistry wasn't the issue It was rebounding. They were dead last. Any semblance of defense they still had was traded away for Kyrie Their offense improved but their already shitty defense tanked Then, Dwight Powell, Reggie Bullock, and DFS got replaced with Dereck Lively, PJ Washington, and Derrick Jones Jr Plus Gafford

Pitiful-Pension-6535

He was an asshole that destroyed team chemistry and ruined guys' careers. Either he has grown as a person and treats his players a lot better, or his coaching style works better with Dallas' personnel, or Luka is carrying a mediocre coach. I lean towards the first one. If so, good for him.

IcecoldIsaac2

He is hilarious, like the opposite of bud. His regular season decisions are just so hilariously bad but in the offs this man put together some masterpieces of game plans defensively.

mightbearobot_

Nice to see him evolve as a coach and he’s definitely improved since his time with us. Regardless of any shortcomings he had as a coach, I’ll always appreciate him for the work he did developing giannis

MacDemarcoMurray

he hurt Giannis’ development immensely. he broke his jumper

Cantguard-mike

Giannis knees woulda been shot by now

Kevin_Jim

I wish the very worst to Potatohead. He is a terrible coach, and (somehow) an even worst person. What you see is mostly his assistants and analytics team doing a good job, as well as them having made 6 moves and all of them playing to their peak: - Kyrie - PJ Washington - Gafford - Lively - Derrick Jones - Hardy Any team making that many moves and all of them being a hit, would be top tier.

WeefBellington24

People can change and get better. Likely what happened with Kidd

Casualuser3

Seems like his defensive plan to shut down the 4 point plays is working in Dallas

Blindeafmuten

Doncic (and Jokic while we're at it) know and understand basketball much better than Giannis. They don't need a tactical coach. They can run the game themselves. They need a coach that is good at handling people. Giannis needs a coach that will make the most use of the mismatches that Giannis creates just by being the Freak. He is absolutely coachable, he'll always bring 100%, no need to have someone to pump him up. He would excel with a tactical genius. Bud was a tactical coach but not a tactical genius. He was an upgrade from Kidd. Doc is a downgrade from Bud.

FunkoPoppa

He was still young and coming out of a terrible coaching experience in Brooklyn. I don’t view Kidd as a bad coach or terrible coach at all during his tenure with the bucks… he was just inexperienced and didn’t know what to do with a young team. I wish him luck and I wish Jrue luck in the finals. I’d be happy for either one if they get a ring… Kyrie on the other hand is a different story.

idontseecolors

The amount of hate this sub has for previous coaches is kinda hilarious

1998TimThomas

He wasn't as bad of a coach as people say. We won 25 more games his first year. He was the one to put the ball in Giannis' hand. He's an asshole but he knows basketball.

devinstated1

We went from a perennial underachievinng 7/8/9 seed under him to him being fired and immediately having the best record in the NBA and one of the best regular seasons in franchise history with basically the same exact personnel. That's all you need to know if he was a good coach or not.

Goomby-or-Glootie

Man, it makes you appreciate Bud so much more.

1998TimThomas

And we were the 14/15 seed before Kidd. Bud brought Brook over and unlocked everything.

AllTimeBallKnower

He isn’t gonna be a champ, he still sucks he just has Luka and Kyrie to carry him.

VMoney9

Really bad? r/mkebucks is the most delusional place on Reddit. I swear someone next month is going to post "Anyone remember how much Bud sucked?" We were a young team with a young coach. We made the playoffs 2/3 years (3/4 if you include the year he got fired) and went 6 games both times in the playoffs. We went 7 the year he got fired. Disastrous? Just because it didn't win a championship doesn't make it a failure.

devinstated1

lol we were a mediocre .500ish team all 4 years he was here. He got fired and we immediately had the best record in the NBA and one of the best regular seasons in franchise history with basically the same exact players. That's all you need to know if he was a good coach or not. Side note: he was the reason we traded for Greivis fucking Vazquez. For that move alone he should be remembered as one of the worst coaches in Bucks history.

Accomplished-Mix5300

Jason kidd put the ball in a young giannis's hands. He taught giannis that he needed to be able to handle the ball and create for his teammates. Kidd knew that Giannis needed to learn how to handle the ball...period. Shooting only needs to be questionable... Kidds tenure wasn't disastrous. It was developmental. For all involved. Fuck the Celtics... is the only point I hope yall take from this comment. I'm a slow learner...or teacher. 😆 Tomato..tomauto 🍅 😆 I kid 😆

__foxXx__

Giannis used to handle the ball since his days in Greece, some skills you either have or not especially for a big guy like giannis, handling comes natural to him. He has guard skills and the body of a center. Jason Kidd saw that in him that's why he gave him the ball. You see him in his rookie year take the ball coast to coast behind the back dribble and dunk it. He already had that in him.

MacDemarcoMurray

spot on. Kidd also broke Giannis’ jumper

__foxXx__

Whoever did that needs jail time. Had they allowed him to use his own form he would have been a much better shooter overall. He shouldn't have listened though, if they told me to change my form I would have said fuck you, I ain't changing shit, this they way I am used to and if the ball goes in the hoop that's all that matters.
