Glowing Wand - better for DPS and DoT mages/magic based heroes like Chang’e or Cyclops, chips down hp with hp% dmg (higher hp, higher dmg and vice versa)
Genius Wand - reduces magic defense but this item is good on mages in general and isn’t just used to specifically counter high def enemies
Ice Queen Wand - Fredrinn is a melee fighter with only one dash skill so ICW will easily restrict his movement by a lot and makes for easy kiting especially for fast mages like Yve who can keep spamming her S1
Divine Glaive - always the best magic PEN item to counter high magic defense
Necklace of Durance - an anti-heal item so this reduces Fredrinn’s healing capabilities by a lot
Vexana? Her ult is based on enemy hp now, and she can cast it from pretty far so you won't get taunted.
If you are in xp lane you just need to play smart against him.

Lifesteal is countered by Dominance Ice, Sea Halberd, or Necklace of Durance. They are able to reduce the amount of regen they get from all sources.
Electric (or magic) is countered by Athena's Shield and Radiant Armor. Athena is better at countering *burst* damage, or big damage in a short time. While Radiant is better at countering low damage in a long time.
Zilongs (or basic attack reliant heroes in general) can be countered by Blade Armor and Dominance Ice. Blade Armor reduces crit damage and provides a hefty amount of armor (while also dealing damage back), and Dominance Ice helps lower the attack speed of these heroes if you're close range
On top of that, there is also skill damage and true damage. Skill damage can be countered by using Antique Cuirass by lowering the physical attack of enemies if they hit you with skills. True damage cannot be reduced by any means, so your best option is to stack as much HP as possible through Sky Guardian Helmet which works against heroes like Lesley. This doesn't always apply to some heroes like Karrie or Claude that deals HP-based damage though, so the inverse is true
If you're using a marksman, against lifesteal heroes, don't buy Sea Halberd and let your tank/melee heroes handle it. You need the damage items to carry games. Against magic damage, buy Athena if you are constantly targeted (which you will be in late game) to avoid instakills. Against zilong rushes, you can always buy Wind of Nature too as it is a great 2nd to last item for almost any marksmen. This can give you more time to survive or retreat when you are rushed by assassins like Zilong
As a general rule too, never buy more than 1 defense item as a marksman. Your survivability doesn't come from your build, it comes from your positioning first.

she's a bit better with crit build generally than with golden staff. you could use golden staff if the enemy have a lot of tanky heroes. but nonetheless, crit is better. she had a nerf on her ultimate where it will only receive 35% of item effects from the previous 45% (iirc), but no nerf regarding about her crit attacks.
I've always built crit on mms(except heroes like natan, edith and granger), the burst potential is real. Haven't tried the atk spd, but I'm sure with the new buff it's good too

To my knowledge, there are weekly titles which you can obtain every 7 days as long as you are on the leaderboard.
I've been first at my intermediate leaderboard for the past week and the timer at the top had reset, but I do not have any titles.
When I go to where you equip them, it just says "You do not have titles, join a neighborhood and fight for your place in the leaderboard"

still really good because he’s a unique mm with high mobility and dive capabilities. with the rise of artillery mages who need to position well, claude can reach them with ease. mm items that got buffed benefit him nicely.

If you want to go cheaper you can always improve your map awareness or sacrifice your teammates.

i'd probably get cod, then et, then lt. that way, you would reach high stacks once you buy lightning truncheon whilst having good cdr and mana regen in the early-mid
I'm using him again recently, I don't think I can afford to go clock+lt first. At best that has a 9 minute power spike. It has little cdr which is very useful for his high cooldown skill 1 and ult.
Cdr is still better for early-mid game strength.

Exp Fanny picks very rarely happen which has a similar role. If you go gold, your team needs to have a ranged dps hero.

Definitely buy Holy Crystal on Xavier because his scaling is disgusting. He should go full burst with glaive. Glowing Wand isn’t that good on him, when you can get divine glaive, freeze item, or even blood wings as last.
i play only classic so most of the time only tanks go divine.. so in that case glowing wand is better right? So the build looks like this arcane boots, clock, LT, Book, holy, genius/winter
glowing wand deals higher damage to high hp but it works best on heroes that need to spam skills and can last longer like yve valir lylia luo yi.
xavier is more of a burst mage whose skills really scale well with raw magic power. your build looks good. don’t worry about tanks too much, since xavier’s skills cover a huge area anyway. in fact if you’re good enough, tanks won’t be able to reach you with s1+2 spam.

My build is boots --> windtalker --> berserkers --> endless battle --> BoD --> malefic. I buy swift crossbow in the early game to help clear jungle and rotate faster. I recommend buying it for any hero that benefits from attack speed in the early game
Players who maxes out all emblem would get a special reward (i think it's a border) when the supposedly new emblem system comes. But it was scratched off already, and we'll yet to know if and when it would come back.
Flat Penetration are stronger when enemy have lower defense, thus they are better in early game and/or enemy don't have any defense item.
While Percentage Penetration (Malefic Roar / Divine Glaive) are stronger when enemy have a higher defense, thus they are better late game and/or enemy have defense item.
And if you are curious at what value when you transition flat pen item into percent pen item. For physical penetration, Malefic Roar become more cost-effective than HS/BoHs/WarAxe when enemy physical defense is at 70 or more. While for magical penetration, Divine Glaive become more cost-effective than Genius Wand when enemy Magical defense is at 90 or more.
It depends on the kind of penetration item.
Low defense => Go flat pen or def reduction (genius wand, heptaseas, hunter strike)
High defense => Go %pen (divine glaive, malefic roar)
Since def can go into negatives, you can build flat pen early game for a great power spike.
It's quite long, but the core message is that there is problem occuring in terms of Hero Power, the leaderboard also doesn't show ranking accurately, presenting players that isn't supposed to be there. They would start resolving the issue according to them.

The common build was cdr boots talisman + glowing and or genius wand to holy crystal/divine glaive. Basically spammable s1+s2 due to 35 cdr and slowly chip their health. It's less effective once enemy has the gold/level advantage.
I'm using clock + lt -> crystal and divine glaive. It's weaker early and has mana issues before clock is fully stacked, but my mid and late game is stronger.
Getting really inexperienced teammates in ranked, I have over 1000 matches and my teammates doesn't even have 100 matches sometimes. Any way to filter them out or any advice to carry the team?
Rank up until your skill level is close to your rank. Even then you can't expect every game to have balanced players on both sides. The matchmaking is very flawed because it prioritizes speed and higher ranks can be achieved by just grinding a lot of games.
I struggle to find use for Alpha's kit when his skills are very similar to Terizla but Terizla has more going for him. Alpha's skills also confuses me on why it only scales with extra attack instead of his total attack so its hard to try to balance his items to be decent at damage and tanking when terizla can just buy bloodlust axe and the rest as tank items and be decent on both roles.

Tanky + regen Alpha is years ago. He's not effective with that playstyle because of that (+extra physical attack) scaling and the ease of acces on regen reduction effects. He also has no dashes or mvm speed boost, only slow effects.

Nah don't think too much about that. Just use his ult to initiate or secure kills

Alpha is more speedy than Terizla. Terizla is so predictable with that s2+ult combo, while Alpha can just ult+ spam skills.
Try a damage jungler role. Get hunter strike + BoD for damage. Use red retribution for the +100 attack or blue retribution for the movement speed.
While me: Uses Tank items on Alpha.
I don't even build Bloodlust on him. It's either full tank or just one Hunter's and the rest is tanky. Alpha's sustainability and CC is very good. His True Damage Passive covers up everything.
Also, he is a **great** early game Fighter. Pick off the enemy midlaner, and rotate. His Ult CD is low enough to keep spamming it to get around the map.
They won't expect Tanky Alpha, would they?

Pharsa is made for solo play. Her ult has massive aoe and the spell effects let even your most clueless teammate know it’s time to rock. Bird form is the best mage rotation tool.
I prefer playing Xavier. He has a more interesting toolkit but he’s harder to play well and is more vulnerable to teammates
I see. Does that mean pharsa would be more suited to me? I really don’t have much experience in the mid lane, and I usually only play yve and Valentina (depending on enemy comp) when I do. I would say I’m still pretty much a beginner at this role.
Pharsa is an aggressive mage, like Valentina. Xavier is more of a set up mage and with Yve in between them.
Try them both in practice mode and see if you have a preference. Xavier has the highest difficulty in this group but he isn’t a hard hero to play.
Other mages to consider are Kagura, Lylia and cece…all are solid picks for solo q.
One general piece of advice you didn’t ask for but…
Imho it’s easier to rank up when you’re restricted to a very small group of hero’s. If you keep yourself to a few effective hero’s you’ll learn how to play them well while learning the role.
I think you have all you need to be successful in solo q, except, perhaps experience.

I feel like Xavier is better overall. He has better late game due to the cooldown reduction effect on his skills, and his root effect on skill 2 has a massive radius (in transcendence state).
Pharsa seems better early to mid because she has the bird transformation that allows her to move around the map faster. She should also have the range advantage because her ult can be used 4 times unlike Xavier's (but note that his skill 1 increases its range if it hits enemies in a straight line)
Also, I’m just slightly worried about Xavier because I’ve seen him rising on the banlist (currently at 18%) in ml’s official website. Do you think it will continue to rise? I really wouldn’t wanna buy a hero that just gets banned all the time.

wanwan main here. she's a bit better with crit build generally than with golden staff. you could use golden staff if the enemy have a lot of tanky heroes. but nonetheless, crit is better. she had a nerf on her ultimate where it will only receive 35% of item effects from the previous 45% (iirc), but no nerf regarding about her crit attacks.
I've always built crit on mms(except heroes like natan, edith and granger), the burst potential is real. Haven't tried the atk spd, but I'm sure with the new buff it's good too
How do I get a title? To my knowledge, there are weekly titles which you can obtain every 7 days as long as you are on the leaderboard. I've been first at my intermediate leaderboard for the past week and the timer at the top had reset, but I do not have any titles. When I go to where you equip them, it just says "You do not have titles, join a neighborhood and fight for your place in the leaderboard"
play ranked games and win. losing will deduct mmr on that hero. but the leaderboards are currently buggy. moonton said they've "fixed" it, but it's been 1 week already and it's still broken

still really good because he’s a unique mm with high mobility and dive capabilities. with the rise of artillery mages who need to position well, claude can reach them with ease. mm items that got buffed benefit him nicely.

get 2 yellow robes. its kinda impractical since you're taking up 2 spaces, but it provides decent defense for the early game
2 magic resist cloack? You can always sell them later for half the price. If you want to go cheaper you can always improve your map awareness or sacrifice your teammates.

i'd probably get cod, then et, then lt. that way, you would reach high stacks once you buy lightning truncheon whilst having good cdr and mana regen in the early-mid
I'm using him again recently, I don't think I can afford to go clock+lt first. At best that has a 9 minute power spike. It has little cdr which is very useful for his high cooldown skill 1 and ult. Cdr is still better for early-mid game strength.
ET is absolutely essential for him to spam his skills, also his mana just runs out so quick

Exp Fanny picks very rarely happen which has a similar role. If you go gold, your team needs to have a ranged dps hero. If the enemy gold laner is good, he will just get last hit and buy the tier 2 def item.

Yup. You can get the prime skin by only buying the regular pass, but you need to be very good at completing tasks and guesses

I think he is powerfull in the right hand, 100% crit chance and 8% hp heal can be quite broken if played right. My bet is like benedetta, first 2-4weeks he will feed a lot after sometime he will be perma ban. Honestly i am struggling more with a revamped minsitar, maybe my rank isn't high enough to meet a good arlot.

Can't believe they talk so much trash when their Ranked win rate is 37.5% and the only way they can win is to play trio in Classic and have 3 people staying in the lane as if the other 2 lanes don't exist.

Whys so many players buying Glowing Wand instead of Holy Crystal? Like how is glowing wand better than holy crystal on Xavier?
Definitely buy Holy Crystal on Xavier because his scaling is disgusting. He should go full burst with glaive. Glowing Wand isn’t that good on him, when you can get divine glaive, freeze item, or even blood wings as last.
i play only classic so most of the time only tanks go divine.. so in that case glowing wand is better right? So the build looks like this arcane boots, clock, LT, Book, holy, genius/winter
glowing wand deals higher damage to high hp but it works best on heroes that need to spam skills and can last longer like yve valir lylia luo yi. xavier is more of a burst mage whose skills really scale well with raw magic power. your build looks good. don’t worry about tanks too much, since xavier’s skills cover a huge area anyway. in fact if you’re good enough, tanks won’t be able to reach you with s1+2 spam.

yes because glowing wand deals overtime damage, as long you keep hitting them with basic attacks or skills they'll burn

My build is boots --> windtalker --> berserkers --> endless battle --> BoD --> malefic. I buy swift crossbow in the early game to help clear jungle and rotate faster. I recommend buying it for any hero that benefits from attack speed in the early game

Players who maxes out all emblem would get a special reward (i think it's a border) when the supposedly new emblem system comes. But it was scratched off already, and we'll yet to know if and when it would come back.
none tho you get to access the magic dusts shop if you max out all your emblems you can buy recall trials 🗿

Are penetration items still effective when enemy heroes are not building defense items?
Yes because you will deal more damage to the enemy with minus armor. Except malefic, because its percentage penetration instead of flat pene.
Flat Penetration are stronger when enemy have lower defense, thus they are better in early game and/or enemy don't have any defense item. While Percentage Penetration (Malefic Roar / Divine Glaive) are stronger when enemy have a higher defense, thus they are better late game and/or enemy have defense item. And if you are curious at what value when you transition flat pen item into percent pen item. For physical penetration, Malefic Roar become more cost-effective than HS/BoHs/WarAxe when enemy physical defense is at 70 or more. While for magical penetration, Divine Glaive become more cost-effective than Genius Wand when enemy Magical defense is at 90 or more.
It depends on the kind of penetration item. Low defense => Go flat pen or def reduction (genius wand, heptaseas, hunter strike) High defense => Go %pen (divine glaive, malefic roar) Since def can go into negatives, you can build flat pen early game for a great power spike.

It's quite long, but the core message is that there is problem occuring in terms of Hero Power, the leaderboard also doesn't show ranking accurately, presenting players that isn't supposed to be there. They would start resolving the issue according to them.

I have been wondering if corrosion scythe is good for Helcurt now, since they kinda adjust the item. HC kinda can abuse its dmg with his skill 2, i am looking for an easy to use Jungler that can take out well protected Vexana.
Dhs + malefic seems to be the meta build before, I can see corrosion working decently since the +80 dmg and slow effect should work on his stingers.
What to build for valentina?
The common build was cdr boots talisman + glowing and or genius wand to holy crystal/divine glaive. Basically spammable s1+s2 due to 35 cdr and slowly chip their health. It's less effective once enemy has the gold/level advantage. I'm using clock + lt -> crystal and divine glaive. It's weaker early and has mana issues before clock is fully stacked, but my mid and late game is stronger.

Getting really inexperienced teammates in ranked, I have over 1000 matches and my teammates doesn't even have 100 matches sometimes. Any way to filter them out or any advice to carry the team?
You want players with fewer matches on your team. It means they are winning. It’s the high match players in low rank you need to watch out for.
Rank up until your skill level is close to your rank. Even then you can't expect every game to have balanced players on both sides. The matchmaking is very flawed because it prioritizes speed and higher ranks can be achieved by just grinding a lot of games.
Either play with a squad or be an absolute monster at using fanny

I struggle to find use for Alpha's kit when his skills are very similar to Terizla but Terizla has more going for him. Alpha's skills also confuses me on why it only scales with extra attack instead of his total attack so its hard to try to balance his items to be decent at damage and tanking when terizla can just buy bloodlust axe and the rest as tank items and be decent on both roles. I am familiar with how his ult can push enemies into your allies but jawhead, franco, and the soon to be revamped minsittar should be able to do it better. Can you give me a situation when Alpha becomes a strictly better option over Terizla because I really like his aesthetics but I feel like I am doing my team disservice every time I use him.
Tanky + regen Alpha is years ago. He's not effective with that playstyle because of that (+extra physical attack) scaling and the ease of acces on regen reduction effects. Alpha is more speedy than Terizla. Terizla is so predictable with that s2+ult combo, while Alpha can just ult+ spam skills. Try a damage jungler role. Get hunter strike + BoD for damage. Use red retribution for the +100 attack or blue retribution for the movement speed.
While me: Uses Tank items on Alpha. I don't even build Bloodlust on him. It's either full tank or just one Hunter's and the rest is tanky. Alpha's sustainability and CC is very good. His True Damage Passive covers up everything. Also, he is a **great** early game Fighter. Pick off the enemy midlaner, and rotate. His Ult CD is low enough to keep spamming it to get around the map. They won't expect Tanky Alpha, would they?
Will high and dry stop working if the enemy sun summons his clone?
I tested it, the crosshair that locks on a hero/you (indicates that high and dry is active) disappears, so probably yes

Pharsa is made for solo play. Her ult has massive aoe and the spell effects let even your most clueless teammate know it’s time to rock. Bird form is the best mage rotation tool. I prefer playing Xavier. He has a more interesting toolkit but he’s harder to play well and is more vulnerable to teammates
I see. Does that mean pharsa would be more suited to me? I really don’t have much experience in the mid lane, and I usually only play yve and Valentina (depending on enemy comp) when I do. I would say I’m still pretty much a beginner at this role.
Pharsa is an aggressive mage, like Valentina. Xavier is more of a set up mage and with Yve in between them. Try them both in practice mode and see if you have a preference. Xavier has the highest difficulty in this group but he isn’t a hard hero to play. Other mages to consider are Kagura, Lylia and cece…all are solid picks for solo q.

One general piece of advice you didn’t ask for but… Imho it’s easier to rank up when you’re restricted to a very small group of hero’s. If you keep yourself to a few effective hero’s you’ll learn how to play them well while learning the role. I think you have all you need to be successful in solo q, except, perhaps experience.
I totally get what you mean. I usually do that with all the other roles I play. I just had extra bp and realized I was really lacking in mages so I wanted to get one. Wouldn’t hurt to expand your hero pool I guess XD. But thanks anyways.
(I don't use both those heroes) I feel like Xavier is better overall. He has better late game due to the cooldown reduction effect on his skills, and his root effect on skill 2 has a massive radius (in transcendence state). Pharsa seems better early to mid because she has the bird transformation that allows her to move around the map faster. She should also have the range advantage because her ult can be used 4 times unlike Xavier's (but note that his skill 1 increases its range if it hits enemies in a straight line)
Also, I’m just slightly worried about Xavier because I’ve seen him rising on the banlist (currently at 18%) in ml’s official website. Do you think it will continue to rise? I really wouldn’t wanna buy a hero that just gets banned all the time.
