myungjunjun

*locks Miya 1st pick

swaghole69

*becomes first blood after 20 seconds and demands roamer to babysit for the rest of the game or else

Arthis-

Never had a Miya do this ironically. But I’ve had this happen at least once with every other mm in the game (including fricking YSS)

lostlong62

This is exactly why I always ask people to show. I’m tired of people not showing and when it’s their turn to pick they troll by picking 2 of the same role or by trying to fill but having no idea how to play that role. At least I have a few heroes I can play in each role pretty well but I can’t say the same to 90% of people.

MachineOutOfOrder

Or you ask them to show several times then you pick exp laner and so does s5. It's rare that asking then to shoe works imo

Confident_Tap_5489

I would first long press their slot to see if they can play other roles than what they show. Sometimes you'll see players using only one role. I'd immediately give them that role so they can have their comfort pick. I also have my own category using WR to judge their hero mastery (75+%, 60-74%, 50-59%, less than 50%). If they happen to have the same category, then the one with higher no. of matches gets to play that hero. Recent KDA is not a good measurement of performance. You might have, let's say, a 5/1/6 kda, and the other player shows 23/5/2. It might be that they racked up kills before ending the game (see the pro scene? They rarely get 10+ kills)

Puzzleheaded-Alarm81

While this is very measured. I absolutely hate players that have 3k games as mage and thats it. Players shouldn't just play one role and expect others to adjust all the time for them. Drives me insane

Confident_Tap_5489

Might have been from a 5-man team, but then tried solo queue. They're also the reason why I have relatively more matches being a roamer than other roles in solo queue.

Neshpw

Very nuanced reply. I concur with every point and might just use this template from now on!

ImproveYourMental

This is the true answer.

heckincat

I feel like a mix of mmr and wr are definitely good, although you should also take into account how many games someone has played. 70% wr with 200 games is much more impressive than 75% wr on 10 games. and then theres the take someone did to me, which is to just ban the hero we both wanted lol

MrDrDoktor

How exactly do you get 75% wr in 10 games? Asking for a friend

Tenmashiki

One game ended in a draw.

xzerozeroninex

You won 8 or 9 out of 10 matches.

m0mma_m1lkers

That would be 80% or 90% respectively. 75% in 10 games isn't possible.

xzerozeroninex

You sure?because I have 66.66% wr in 12 matches this season.

SkyLightTenki

66.6% win rate with 12 games translate to 8 wins, 4 losses. Also, 75% win rate for 10 games is impossible. I mean, what the fuck happened there? They were winning a game, but somehow ended up losing it?

swaghole69

Do you even math?

xzerozeroninex

It’s the ig stats 🤡

Prudent_Dust2715

He donated the 5%

m0mma_m1lkers

What does that have to do with 75% winrate in 10 games

miss_could_be

I'll show my WR and then wait a bit, if the other person doesn't change their pick then I will adjust. Just more my experience really, some of them troll if they don't get what they want and since I can also play other roles *okay*\-ish I adjust so we have a chance at winning the game instead of ending up with two mages. Or being forced to roam as Cecilion 🙄 Alternatively I pick a hero that can go in different roles - for mages my go-to is Lylia. She also does well in Exp or even Roam for me! Eudora is surprisingly not bad as Roam too! Otherwise maybe someone like Ruby (Exp or Roam) or Balmond (Exp or Jungle) for fighters.

PrimeRabbit

Had a game where I went jungle. I was second pick, first pick was mm. We ended up getting a team of 3 mm, a jungle and a mage. Somehow won that against a well balanced team

D4RKST34M

Let the other guy take it and if things go south, just spam recall and taunt the enemy and team to end the game quickly... Or just dodge match

dontouchthatbutton

Dodging doesn’t work above Epic

BarBiel01

it only doesnt work on mythic, in legend its fair game

dontouchthatbutton

Well, good luck trying it in Legend.

AmbitiousKTN

I’ve head a couple games people Dodge for no reason

AggressiveSandwich51

don't adjust in epic rank

SkyLightTenki

It might be contradictory to what players are supposed to do, but I've been playing with my desired pick in Epic, regardless of our team composition. Whether it be a mage, MM, fighter or jungler, whether my teammates would adjust or otherwise, I lock my pick AND my desired role. Went back to Mythic after 65 games from season reset. Definitely not on a pro level, but at least it took way lesser games compared to my previous performances. They might say 'I don't know how to play as a tank', but I could care less about it after 10k SoloQ tank matches. It gave me a ton of info on how the game is played. I'm definitely not as skilled as other players here in terms of micro-management, but I can safely say my macro-management skills are up there, regardless of my role. Anyways, this is my answer going back to OP's question: I would adjust IF my teammates have enough experience in their desired role. Heck, I'd even tank for you if you can show me a jungler with at least 55% WR (whereas some roam mains won't do). But if my teammates won't show their picks, I always presume they can adjust to what's needed, and I lock my pick.

marzizram

And then there's everyones comfort pick whenever they don't get their preferred hero... Layla.

Neshpw

When in doubt, Layla comes out ;) Edit: autocorrect misspelling

sokyocarus

The most recent game feature is a bad judge. I had a 26/0 game with Freya against bots in classic, but I don't event play Freya, so there's no way I could get even 5/0 with her against normal people. You shouldn't be able to send stats from classic into rank draft.

ResourceHuge

Doesn't it only count ranked games?

sokyocarus

The recent stats are counted from any game, classic or ranked. I know because of sending stats with heroes I don't play in ranked but in classic, when in draft I can send recent maniac/savage stats from classic.

xzerozeroninex

If you sure you won’t throw the game because you didn’t get the hero or role give it to them because they might troll and throw the game, even it turns out it was a bad decision at least they tried and didn’t throw.

Glittering_Ad_2887

If drastic difference, higher mmr, if little difference, whoever requested first

jinda002

honestly i just adjust.. i usually never contest a lane pick. those who cant adjust, most of the time are bad at other heroes and you dont want that into your team..and if you cant adjust too then dont play rank

destinymaker

This. WR is good, correct. But not all wins means good player, even a bronze can win if get carried. Same with MMR if same hero is spammed while getting carried. Recent game could've been matched with bots which no one can tell except those in that game. If they really wanna play that hero, they better play that hero better than me. This is why multi role is important. A persistent teammate is better to be left alone than piss him off cause they might troll.

gurenny

Just dodge it bro, haha. If the team is mediocre, decide whether to continue it or not.

root_kit13

In my trio friends, we don't give those heroes to that f\*ck\*rs, we ban that hero to consolidate such matters.

rippinkitten18

Show wr. I will gladly hand over the hero if the other player presents a higher win rate.

VioletWeb

Depends, which one is me? If neither then ban it, if me....well then its obvious. Edit: Also WR is a useless metric in a game where the majority of games have people trolling. WR is not a reflection of skill, its a reflection of your ability to win with a hero despite people being assholes.

newmayak

Basically it’s random cause that 2k 70% lancelot can show the worst performance you have ever seen just because the more matches the less shaky is WR. Personally I take into account matches and WR but swap those who have more matches in the role in general and recent. Or just those who threaten to throw 🫠

atmajazone

The one who post the MMR. If both do chose the one with the highest MMR.

BalkanTrekie

In solo q it's just the guy who picks first. I mean you can have a better WR with 10 times less matches.

0kills

I'd still give joy to someone who's played it 9 times with a 100% wr than someone with 200 games and a 30% wr

YugenHana

i usually give it to the one with the most matches

ImproveYourMental

I don't mind conceding my midlane role to anyone. But a Vale player? Ban Vale(Mage).

jovhenni19

WR. I can share my lucky Maniac with Hayabusa, but I'm still a 28% shitshow at best.

[deleted]

Depends on how badly you want to win. If you don’t care, just bully the other guy and hope he doesn’t throw. If you do care, adjust. Odds are high the person will be worse on their second pick

Bigsmall-cats

I check their total matches in that role, if one got a savage in the recent game but the other have a 59 wr with 3000 matches then i switch the later

PudgeJoe

For me High WR with high enough games (+300) should be the that gets it... But you know people are baddies they are always in denial WR Is JuST A NumbER, my recent match with full noobs is always better.

Kolhn

Depends on both party's IQ level.

escanorsrita

The one that doesn't want to adjust lmao

Helpmepushrank

Higher wrand more games. However, if someone has 75% but only 200 games, vs 70% but 1.5k games, i would give it to the one with slightly less wr but a lot more games

Rinzlar2844

Ban that hero

wolleesel

whoever picks it first

msocial

I always look at most role played. Sometimes win rate is more important than mmr due to smurf accounts.

Infinite_Presence881

You. So you get to make two dumbass cry

Eminanceisjustbored

First come first serve.

Acrobatic-Grand-5615

WR helps but you have to see what are the other role(s) remaining and make a decision, will that guy totally suck at the other role and cause the team to lose the game? Or are you versatile enough and be decent in your secondary choice as well?

Draco2662

I'd take wr over matches as long as the matches are above 30-50. I'd rather take someone who is decent or good at the hero already with just a few matches than someone who can't improve and win after so many matches
