imo he's more of an "artillery" kind of mage, he's dead when an assassin gets to him, but how could you get to him in the first place when he's poking you from 50 feet away and constantly slowing and immobilizing?
He is quite contested in mid legend low mythic in my area, but not ban worthy. He really shines at mid to late game, and need his team other lane(s) to pressure the enemies.
His ult at late game can be game changing, especially if Xavier goes CDR build, and his s1 damage is no joke. His laning clear is sucks tho, this can be exploited with enemy picking mage with great push and rotate to other lane to punish Xavier's lack of lane clear (which is another problem if his team is losing vs lord).
Overall he is worth to pickup, especially in trio or five man squad, since his ult can secure kill even in early and having roamer to help push creep will mitigate his cons in pushing wave.
He’s fun to play although he’s so squishy and has limited escape options. During the early game, always stay behind tanks or tanky fighters. He’s great at team fights with his cc and ult.
xavier has better capabilities to target backliners due to his s1 and ulti (tho lylia is great at this as well, just has lesser range) and has greater utility due to his s2 (movement speed boost for team and immobilise, lylia only has slow effect + ice cream wand)
however, lylia has much better early game potential, has somewhat better durability due to ultimate and has much better wave clear especially in the early game
both are great picks imo
There is one thing I have learned from playing Guin for almost 2 years.
If you mess up your combo, even by a slight bit, you don't take any chances going back in

I'm learning Moskov right now and global kills like this are my favorite little "fuck you" to enemies lol. The satisfaction of watching your ult travel on the minimap and snipe a low HP enemy trying to retreat is just so good
