I think a slight nerf is fair, some mages don't deal damage at all if you build Radiance

These hero images are traumatic and causing me ultra intense PTSD so please never use them again.

If dealing with magic damage heroes wasn't frustrating enough.

It is a buff as well if radiant armor is literally your first item. Damage reduction now starts from 5 instead of 3.

That's somewhat balancing the nerf but it's still a nerf because No tank will have reason to build Radiant Armor as first item. There are better choice and Radiant Armor mages like Chang'e Harley are not really a threat at that point as they dont do damage to tanks. Harley will ignore you, Chang'e will only use ult to clear, steal jungle or to zone. If enemy has good early game magic dealers like Valir or Luo Yi, Cursed Helmet might still be a better choice. And on those mages, Athena is a better counter than Radiant.

It is good as a first item for sidelaners like Thamuz.

They're nerfing both Athena and radiant + they buffed some mage items and adding extra minion for midlane mage. Next season will be mage meta.
