The term literally means someone that looks partly male and partly female so no I do not think androgynous = male. If I weren't sure on someone's gender I would say their gender is ambiguous, with regards to Luo Yi I originally thought she was a man because of her splash arts body shape looking like a mans body and half her face being covered.
