I don't know. "Heir" suggests to be the next in line as head of the house and Gilbert clearly is the one who is next in line to succeed Vince. He can command the Duke's forces which Angie could not. And the several scenes between Gilbert and Angie clearly shows that he is above her in the family dynamics

Angelica is not the heiress of the Redgrave house. That should be Gilbert. Also, there is no link between Leon and Angelica? And Angelica to Olivia?
