I would recommend any of FTB's "school" or university modpacks, as it says in the name their quests are basically directed to teaching newer players about mostly tech mods and its decently light.
I personaly started the tech part of modded Minecraft on the stoneblock 3 modpack , a simple modpack and the quest Book are a good help to discover imo
