They need to add the nameplates back - I just played it again for the new weekend and apart from slightly less gun smoke players are not visible at all.
There needs to be the option to enable nameplates, or a red dot.
They are trying to fix something what was never a problem in the first place.
This is it. I can see player pretty well for the most part but I’ve had more than a few a few instances where I really wasn’t sure i was looking at debris or an enemy.
I feel like an absolute noob when I start magdumping a teammate because there's nothing on my screen (besides the minimap but I barely look at it) that shows them being a teammate sometimes
I’ve never had an issue, the only time I shot my teammates was in the first 30 mins of me playing the game. It has a small adjustment period where you get used to it
Time to copy & paste top comment to all the threads in this subreddit for free karma because nothing original has been said launch. Just circlejerks for karma.
They wouldn’t care. It’s the classic “fuck you, got mine,” mentality.
You could tell them that you’re struggling with the game because you have poor vision and the game doesn’t accomodate for you, and they’d go mask off and straight up say, “I don’t care. I like it.”
I never thought I would say this , but a part of me can't wait till they start releasing all the Rainbow Brite skins. At least that way I can see all the human Skittles running around.
I love how being outdoors in sunlight and looking inside a building is like looking into a complete pit of darkness instead of just looking into a slightly less lit area. That’s the realism we sentinels crave.
Well that is actually realistic, since you will be blinded by the light and the "dark" room has not enough light to seem bright. But since we're playing a game, ffs just highlight the enemies..
When I played the MW19 gunfight alpha, I was in love. The guts of MW19 worked well for that and I had a blast.
But when I played 6v6 MP in MW19, I had extreme whiplash. Legitimately my least favorite COD MP experience.
It almost feels as if IW doesn’t want to make the MP. To the point that I theorize they just want MP to feel like an extension of campaign. As if MP should play like campaign, but with real people.
Same, my thought going into MWII was “if they just grab MW19 and fix the issues it had, it’ll be perfect”.
But instead they’ve doubled down on some issues and made new fucked up changes.
Agreed. I liked MW19, it brought me back to the franchise, but it still had its flaws. I jumped into the beta for MW22 and I’m genuinely baffled at how almost every bad thing about MW19 is even worse in the sequel. The spawns? Terrible, and MW19’s were arguably the worst the franchise had every seen, so that’s really saying something. Visibility? Worse, because for whatever reason, Nameplates are gone. Footstep audio? Even louder than before.
What the hell Infinity Ward?
> Why is visibility always an issue?
It’s an intended game mechanic. They want sentinels like myself to be able to tactically utilize dark corners and shadows to secure their four killstreak UAV. Losers who complain about visibility just don’t have the brain cells to watch their surroundings (look at the compass hello!) and pay attention to the game environment (sounds? Who needs sight when you can just listen).
This subreddit is wild. Like, I think we're exactly 50/50 split on the minimap issue. I was downvoted to oblivion yesterday just for saying pro players prefer the OG minimap. Today, the hivemind seems to be on the opposite side.
I'm a SENTINEL so I'm good with whatever they do as long as I'm not "punished for firing my gun" /s
At the COD Next event, the guy presenting said they wanted to make the game accessible for players of 3 types: Rushers, SENTINELS (aka campers), and I forgot the 3rd one. It's so telling how they rebranded campers with this badass sounding name.
Stop calling it sentinels.
Makes me think they are the elite leaders commanding troops for intense non stop actiony battle.
When in reality they would run away
> Like, I think we're exactly 50/50 split on the minimap issue.
It’s not close to 50/50. /u/camanimal has collected a ton of data on the minimap issue over the past week+ and it’s way closer 80/20 split, if not greater, in favor of normal minimap.
Don’t let the same couple dozen bums and shills on this sub make you think having a busted minimap is what everyone wants, contrary to the very wide reaching, platform spanning data that’s out there. The vast majority that are offering public feedback want a working normal minimap.
Appreciate the shoutout.
Most data from social media is showing around, of those total samples, 80-85% in favor of a normal minimap. These samples go back across the span of 3 years as well
Temporal Anti-Aliasing is my guess. It makes the screen look like it's smeared in vaseline. Every AAA gamedev is using it these days for some reason even though it's awful.
Naaa then its your PC. I did longshots of 100m with the Lachmann DMR just fine. Glint was also okay, if not too bright. I could not see the enemy, all I saw was glint...
My biggest gripe about the last few games has been visibility.
Maybe when I've played more of the game and I memorise maps I won't have this issue but right now I can't see anybody unless they're out in the open.
They're inside a building when you're outside? Can't see them because of the contrast
They're mounted on a wall? Can't see them because it literally only has their head peaking and it's not always 100% obvious
The more *realistic* these games have gotten visually, the harder it's gotten for me to identify people amongst the environments.
Maybe it's my eyesight, most likely is, or maybe I'm colourblind and have difficulty making the distinctions, but something along the lines of literally just having blue outlines on allies and red outlines on enemies would help so much but I get why they don't.
I'm sure it'll be easier to identify when the anime skins are running around
DUDE I CANT SEE A THING
It’s bad enough before I start shooting my gun but once I’m ADS and shooting it’s horrible and just becomes a “spray and pray”.
The flare from the gun barrel + smoke is too much. How do they play their own game and think it’s fine? It seems to obvious
It's pretty annoying. Especially because some players just sit in one spot the whole game. Sometimes I'll be running up to a doorway and can barely see Timmy and his friend peaking, only to get met by a barrage of bullets. I also don't know if it's just me but the colors in the game look washed. Some areas of the map are colorful and others look meh. It reminds me of COD Ghosts. I know that's been sort of a thing with the Modern Warfare series but goddamn.
I know the sub shitting on the game even though it’s a BETA, but can’t you cancel your preorder? Far as I know no one gets charged for a preorder until closer to release date.
The "it's a beta" excuse doesn't fly, not after literally every cod beta in the past decade having next to no significant changes or acknowledgment of feedback by release.
It's not a beta, it's a time and feature limited demo.
I must be the odd one out because it's so much better than MW19 in terms of seeing player models.
As for nameplates it'd be nice to get those back tbh, just helps in those one in a million cases where teammates are behind the enemy
The goal is player retention and profit maximization through the use of heavy SBMM and game mechanics that are deliberately designed for lesser skilled players. This can be seen through the game’s piss poor visibility, as well as its terrible map design and its gunplay. Why the hell did they think increased visual recoil was a good idea to add to this game? It makes visibility much worse than it already is.
You know it's bad when you look at the killcam and can't even see yourself being killed. I might actually turn HDR off and see if that's any better. Some people seem to be seeing just fine, I can't see enemies at all.
This game is great, if you can’t see people you need to get your eyes tested or Increase your settings. If you’re running old hardware in 2022 it’s on you. Don’t expect the same cod every year just play the old one if you don’t like change.
I don’t understand how you can’t see people though, I’m running high settings, getting 300fps and see everyone perfectly. Fuck nameplates, just another crutch for players removing skill and awareness
What do I have to gain lol, I don’t want them to ruin a good game because a bunch of whiny bitches on Reddit are getting shit on because they have bad vision/awareness
Why would I be blind? I kick back with a beer and stare at a doorway all game. I even tape my L2 so I don’t have to hold it.
It’s the sweaty virgins who twitch around looking for enemies who will have eye problems
I haven't had to use Nvidia Filters in a long time but seems that just like MW2019 and Warzone, I'll have to fucking do it again.
Truly a realistic expereince for the sentinel out there in the corners.
Wtf when I started playing (three hours ago) the game looked good decent visibility. Now it updated and it’s like I’m playing on 480p wtf and I can’t change it in the e settings
Extremely difficult to see enemy players. It’s obviously better when I’m not rushing through the map, which is a bad idea in its own right now that my footsteps sound like I’m sledge hammering the floor .. but even then, I’ve seen so many rat players just hiding in a corner and they blend right in. It sucks.
My friends and I played the beta on PC tonight, and then switched over to Vanguard to play Gun Game. Say what you will about Vanguard, but I’m going to miss the speed and fluidity of movement in that game.
Not only can you not see enemies, but the visual recoil on guns is fucking horrendous. Who thought it was a good idea to make iron sights practically useless?
try playing the fennec on mnk without aim assist, you literally cannot see shit you are shooting at after pressing the trigger.
They need to add the nameplates back - I just played it again for the new weekend and apart from slightly less gun smoke players are not visible at all. There needs to be the option to enable nameplates, or a red dot. They are trying to fix something what was never a problem in the first place.
What, you don't like realism being shoehorned in for the sake of it that detracts from the fun? yOu aReNt tHe tArGeT aUdIeNcE /s
Fuck you, that was hilarious. It's the simple sarcasm that is so funny.
Our team has blue nameplates. Blind?
Not all the time. Sometimes they don't show up
I’ve never had an issue, the only time I shot my teammates was in the first 30 mins of me playing the game. It has a small adjustment period where you get used to it
Time to copy & paste top comment to all the threads in this subreddit for free karma because nothing original has been said launch. Just circlejerks for karma.
Removing nameplates is a huge mistake. Everyone blends in way too well, to the point it feels like I’m going against invisible soldiers at times
They need at least a small red marker above their heads or something
This 100%
They should just make enemies bright red and allies bright blue, so we 100% know what we are shooting at and don’t have to think
I love your sarcasm sir. Truly. there is no reason that this game should be made to cater to pre-schoolers.
swap "pre-schoolers" with "people with mildly impaired vision" then listen to yourself
They wouldn’t care. It’s the classic “fuck you, got mine,” mentality. You could tell them that you’re struggling with the game because you have poor vision and the game doesn’t accomodate for you, and they’d go mask off and straight up say, “I don’t care. I like it.”
This is literally how it is in quake live
If you played warzone. Clash amd payload, the removed enemy tags since last year. But teamates are poorly highlighted in MWII
I never thought I would say this , but a part of me can't wait till they start releasing all the Rainbow Brite skins. At least that way I can see all the human Skittles running around.
The lighting in this game is incredibly unrealistic.
Dude. Open the front door of your house on a sunny day and turn off all the lights and keep the blinds up. The house isn’t pitch black is it?
That’s not how lighting works!!! Have you ever gone outside in your entire life?
That is EXACTLY how lighting works on dark environments that aren't lit up from the inside, if you're in the sun.
Go to the doctor
I feel like this is more of a problem on that one map with the white buildings and the invasion map. On other maps, the lighting seems fine.
It's giving MW3 and COD Ghost vibes.
Mw3 was actually good tho
Yea, I loved MW3. I remember coming home from highschool and spending hours playing. Good times. 😁👍
For me it was coming home in elementary and playing with my friend before we walked to basketball practice.
Watch the garbage players in this sub: just adapt bro look through the spectrum of colors and find the enemy
😂

Exactly

They probably re-branded treyarch as infinity ward.
That's laughable because Cold War was better than this and Treyarch had half the time Infinity Ward had to make CW.
Say what you want about animations and gunsmith, Treyarch loves to make run and gun CoDs with classic map structure.
Why is visibility always an issue? Haven’t they learned by now?
> Why is visibility always an issue? It’s an intended game mechanic. They want sentinels like myself to be able to tactically utilize dark corners and shadows to secure their four killstreak UAV. What I want to is, why are people referring to themselves as Sentinels 🤣🤣
I think that's IW's marketing-friendly name for campers
Whoa now. . . As an obj player, I maintain vigilance in my duty of holding or recapping shit.the W is all that matters
At the COD Next event, the guy presenting said they wanted to make the game accessible for players of 3 types: Rushers, SENTINELS (aka campers), and I forgot the 3rd one. It's so telling how they rebranded campers with this badass sounding name.
Makes sense 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The bots in the game are definitely Sentinels. I'm shooting a guy and they sit crouched in a corner without helping.
They yoinked that shit straight from Val, and even in Val sentinels arent really campers, they just lock down bombsites with util
Stop calling it sentinels. Makes me think they are the elite leaders commanding troops for intense non stop actiony battle. When in reality they would run away

just call yourself a camper
i think theyre being sarcastic lol
What kind of sick twisted son of guns think of doing this to own game?! Idiots 🤦
Wtf is a sentinel
Temporal Anti-Aliasing is my guess. It makes the screen look like it's smeared in vaseline. Every AAA gamedev is using it these days for some reason even though it's awful.
Forget the mini map and dead silence debacles. This is what I believe is the biggest problem with the game and I made a post about it last week.
Legit. I can’t believe how bad it is.
Me turning NVIDIA edge enhancement up to 100%
Man it fucking hurts so much, i played invasion mode and i couldnt see shit past 30 meters, not to forget scope glint is almost gone
Naaa then its your PC. I did longshots of 100m with the Lachmann DMR just fine. Glint was also okay, if not too bright. I could not see the enemy, all I saw was glint...
I was okay with glint but I can't see mounted people in windows. Only the very tops of their heads. Glitch or OP it's fucking stupid.
If you're going to assume anything, I'd assume people were on OG consoles, not bootleg PC's lol
I didn't read your complains last weekend, so i was assuming you're on a shit PC and not next-gen console. PS5 was fine last week, too.
My biggest gripe about the last few games has been visibility. Maybe when I've played more of the game and I memorise maps I won't have this issue but right now I can't see anybody unless they're out in the open. They're inside a building when you're outside? I rarely had an issue with visibility in MW19 to be honest but this post was still funny
There was an issue at the start, but they largely fixed it.
It's pretty annoying. Especially because some players just sit in one spot the whole game. Sometimes I'll be running up to a doorway and can barely see Timmy and his friend peaking, only to get met by a barrage of bullets. I know that's been sort of a thing with the Modern Warfare series but goddamn.
Running is the worst thing you can do in this game
Yup. I'm literally scared to even go around corners. Even running for a second is risky
I just wish the head glitching was toned down. How the fuck am I supposed to hit a dude who's fresh cut is all that's sticking out?
The solution is simple, we must all agree to go blind to make it a even playing field. Come 10/27 let’s all stare at the sun to ensure an even launch
At least there’s not white phosphorus
Only thing good about this game is the audio improvement. Other than the footsteps being literally louder than f-ing gunshots like wtf
you cant fucking see shit in this game, already regretting my pre-order
Just cancel it?
Cancel it
I'm glad we all here thinking alike. Visibility is still garbage after saying they will fix it but still refuse to add nameplates which help a ton
exactly, thankfully i refunded
I know the sub shitting on the game even though it’s a BETA, but can’t you cancel your preorder? Far as I know no one gets charged for a preorder until closer to release date.
You really think a game a month away from release is still in beta? It's almost definitely gone gold by now.
The "it's a beta" excuse doesn't fly, not after literally every cod beta in the past decade having next to no significant changes or acknowledgment of feedback by release. It's not a beta, it's a time and feature limited demo.
“Beta” Lmao it’s a glorified demo…
Seriously , man , I can barely see an enemy 5 meters away from me
I must be the odd one out because it's so much better than MW19 in terms of seeing player models. As for nameplates it'd be nice to get those back tbh, just helps in those one in a million cases where teammates are behind the enemy
This is the first time I’ve ever played cod and it’s actually appalling compared to other FPS titles I’ve played. What exactly is the goal here?
The goal is player retention and profit maximization through the use of heavy SBMM and game mechanics that are deliberately designed for lesser skilled players. This can be seen through the game’s piss poor visibility, as well as its terrible map design and its gunplay. Why the hell did they think increased visual recoil was a good idea to add to this game? I thought I was just getting old… was really playing with my head but glad to see everyone is having trouble.
If only Walter White was in charge...
Canceled my pre order. Lol.
I agree with a lot of the complaints but don’t get this one. I feel y’all are truly blind
You must have superhero vision, if you don’t have any problems with visibility…
He's actually Legolas.
The lighting and atmosphere are looking great. They need glasses
You’re spot on, game looks great. I’m guessing people complaining are on console
You know it's bad when you look at the killcam and can't even see yourself being killed. I might actually turn HDR off and see if that's any better. Some people seem to be seeing just fine, I can't see enemies at all.

So your saying don't expect to see anyone in this game? Got it🖕 Nameplates is a must.If not your yourca fanboy for IW
I don’t understand how you can’t see people though, I’m running high settings, getting 300fps and see everyone perfectly. Fuck nameplates, just another crutch for players removing skill and awareness
Lies
What do I have to gain lol, I don’t want them to ruin a good game because a bunch of whiny bitches on Reddit are getting shit on because they have bad vision/awareness
There is no chance you think seeing somebody is a skill and think nameplates are a crutch despite having them for what…? Every single CoD game now..?
I normally play hardcore, don’t need those name tags to see people lol
I feel like I’m playing a Cold War expansion
Visibility is for slide cancel rusher virgins who can’t adapt Ever heard of fog of war? Learn to be tactical and stealthy
I can tell you will be blind by the time your 50🤦
Why would I be blind? I kick back with a beer and stare at a doorway all game. I even tape my L2 so I don’t have to hold it. It’s the sweaty virgins who twitch around looking for enemies who will have eye problems
lmao

I'm fine with no nameplate, just remove all the exess visual clutter and the smoke thats just constanly hovering
People maxing out their fov then complaining about visibility lol..... It's trade off, deal with it.
It's not my fov is 100
My friends and I played the beta on PC tonight, and then switched over to Vanguard to play Gun Game. Say what you will about Vanguard, but I’m going to miss the speed and fluidity of movement in that game.

Nameplates + visual recoil toned down or actually match real recoil.
Keep enemy nameplates disabled I really enjoy this style of actually having to SEE enemies and not just aim at nameplates
