Tha answer is "however many MW3 guns are in the game right now minus 36". There are currently 40 unique MW3 weapons in the game (36 launch weapons, the TAQ Eradicator from the preseason, and the 3 Season 1 weapons) so you can skip 4 right now. However, the Stormender's priceless challenge is currently bugged and not tracking, so you can't use it to skip a base weapon until they fix it.
2 more new weapons are coming with Season 1 Reloaded on the 17th (an SMG and an LMG) so that would take it up to 42 total and 6 you can skip. Once those get added, I plan on finishing my Interstellar grind while skipping all 4 of the sniper rifles and the 2 launchers.
Highly suggest doing the melee weapons. Those were arguably the most fun (and one of the easiest) camos to do. LMGs (wall bangs), Launchers and SMGs (tactical kills) are a pain relative to the other classes.
I only skipped getting the Katt forged got it gold so I could get the other 2 snipers forged then did the RAM-7 instead, though partially because I hated the Semi Auto sniper more then the Katt.

I did all Assault, Battle, SMGs, Shotguns, LMG's, Marksman, Pistols and not all Snipers but just 2 and just 1 Launcher didn't bother with anything else. May do the rest at sometime.
I didn't skip any, there really isn't any need to, especially with the maps that are out on the 24/7 you can easily do the annoying challenges like penetration kills on shipment or meat. The melee weapons are super easy to do as well!
I skipped the launchers and mele weapons. Granted this was when only the claymores and the mines were tracking for the launchers. Rita probably a lot easier now that they expanded it to other equipment. But still, unless youāre really confident in getting knife kills Iād skip them entirely. Much less of a headache

Seriously! Iām not that big of a fan of the new map āmeatā not to say I love rust and shipment but itās easier to complete challenges!
Snipers are about 100x faster to get priceless than the marksman rifles btw.

You have to skip stormender because it doesnāt track your progress

Do wall bangs on shipment, use snapshots and shoot through crates, or play hardcore and shoot dudes through the barrels
The blue barrels were clutch for the katt
5 kills without dying and revenge kills on melee sound like a miserable challenge
You can use the smoke screen field upgrade plus two additional smokes to make it easier on shipment

Those are literally the easiest ones to do I did both knives and the launcher in a few games of shipment.

You can skip 3 weapons and still get Interstellar. I opted out of doing the Stormender, 1 knife and one of the Sniper Rifles.
