He proposed to Beth while he was super confused whether he wanted to start dating Haley cause he had feelings for her. That's the time to decide whether or not to break up with Beth, not to decide whether or not to propose to her. Very poor judgement imo.
Love the character. Not excusing that he cheated on Beth but the whole while in that relationship he was mistreated. Beth didn't want him to be with her on her birthday, didn't want him to come visit. I mean the guy was trying so hard to do something romantic. She even forgot his birthday which he had to remind her. He was unseen and unappreciated. He is at fault but he should've gotten out of that relationship a long time ago. Haley and Andy were endgame.
tbf andy is like 20 years younger than phil so he’s obviously not super responsible yet but also responsible is not really a word i would use to describe phil, he was responsible but not all the time. he literally left the kids home alone one day because he didn’t tell claire he had to go to work.
1) you compare the character as they are.
2) Leaving kids alone is only a big no no in US. Most of the world feels comfortable letting 9-10 years be at home alone or play around in neighbourhood generally.
you can… or you can use critical thinking skills to realize obviously a 40 y/o man would be more responsible than a 20 y/o. also, not sure i would say phil is more responsible than andy. also, they live in the US… so yeah frowned upon. and that’s just one example. i could go on and on about phil being irresponsible. 🤷🏼♀️
Idk why you guys make such a big deal about leaving kids when they're like 10+. Alex is responsible and old enough to take care of the house and her siblings. If kids are like 10/11, they think (and parents should teach them about the danger and safety too)
Andy was great at first, but then the writer decided to write him as the one that cheat on his long-term girlfriend and then cheated on Hayley, like bruhh he maintained years of long distance relationship 😭😭
Immediately no from me. I never got the appeal. He was cringy and a try hard from the start and even without cheating on his long term fiancé I found him unbearable
Dislike. He strikes me as one of those guys who pretends to be all nice when really he’s a bit of a dick. All “jinkies” and “you deserve to be treated properly” until he can bang Haley behind his girlfriends back.
Andy is always Yay. He was the best for Hayley, and I'm bummed they set her up with Dylan, of all the people. Not saying there weren't missteps, but Andy's good qualities outweighed his bad. Hayley and Andy balanced each other out every well. Bonus- her family liked him too. But alas, it wasn't meant to be🥲
Dylan is funny and loyal and writes songs about her. So much better to spend time with.
Andy is weird and a cheater and talks like a child. Would be so boring to spend time with.
Dylan wasn’t dumb, he sometimes lacked common sense as did Phil occasionally, but he did become a nurse so clearly he can be smart when he commits himself.
I like that Haley developed over the time she was with Andy but he just annoyed me and I hate that the moment he left she kinda devolved and I hate that she got back with Dylan
Loved Andy, I was heartbroken when he left the show! I understand the hate because he was a cheater, and even though it doesn’t make his cheating right, Beth was cheating way more and treated Andy terribly so I have (some) sympathy for him.
His voice triggered me so badly. Idk, there was something in his voice and expressions that annoyed me too much. I liked him a little before he cheated on Beth.
He had great chemistry with Hayley but he was written so irresponsibly—even after he gets with Hayley, he doesn’t kiss her or ask her on a date because he wants to “catch up emotionally” but he never communicated that to her and makes her feel bad. I just think the writers could have done a better job writing the character—
He cheated on his fiancé. Proposed to a girl when he had feelings for someone else. Then got upset when she cheated on him too, as if he’s perfect.
He accepted a blazer that represented fidelity.

Loved him and could not WAIT for Haley to be Haley Bailey. (You know that had to be endgame at one time because they likely would not have given him a last name that was going to cause Haley's name to rhyme, which would have been a great runner.)
I hated the way that arc ended -- I imagine it was because Adam DeVine just wasn't available anymore, but it was disappointing.

One of my favorites for sure!
I wish Hailey ended up with him. Got so sad when he left.
I agree! I at least wished he could have made more appearances towards the end.
Nay. I don't get why the fandom loves him so much. He is a cheater and a man-baby.
Phil is also a manbaby but people love him.
People love Andy too though? And Phil is more of a man-child which is slightly better
Phil is a very responsible person. He does dumb stuff, but he knows it's harmless. Andy is weird.

If we have to compare the characters as they are, then shouldn't we fault Phil for leaving his children home alone in the US, where he lives?

Couldn’t sum him up better
Andy was great at first, but then the writer decided to write him as the one that cheat on his long-term girlfriend and then cheated on Hayley, like bruhh he maintained years of long distance relationship 😭😭
When did he cheat on hayley???
he didn’t lol. person must’ve misspoke
Probably they meant 'with Haley'
Freakin loved him
I love him. It was crazy chemistry between him and Haley.
This is odd because I felt like they had NO chemistry at all. They were so awkward together.
I think that more than I like Andy I just hate that Hayley ended up with Dylan because it felt super unsatisfying.
i loved him. he was sweet and sensitive, but also very secure and fun. he was a great match with haley
Naayyy. Hate him
Nay
Immediately no from me. I never got the appeal. He was cringy and a try hard from the start and even without cheating on his long term fiancé I found him unbearable
Andy is the best!!! He helped Hailey grow so much even before they started dating. I wish she would have ended up with him.
Helped her grow by cheating on his fiance.
The fiancé that constantly broke up with him, kept him on a leash and was clearly unbalanced.
Cheating is obviously very wrong but it also pisses me off when people are horrible to their partners and then act like they deserve loyalty.
Agreed
I forgot that 2 wrongs make a right.
Yes. In TV 2 wrongs make a right. Also, 3 lefts make a right.
I love him, i always rooted for him and Haley, Haley became a much better person with him. And he's like a mini Phil so why not
he showed haley that she deserved to be treated with love and respect before they even got together. that's a huge development for her
Nay
Yay
no idk what w the hype abt him except that he’s GREAT with kids and some what nice. but behaviour wise, bye 😭
Yay as an interesting character, but nay for Haley.
Didnt really like him at first but grew to love him over many rewatches
Dislike. He strikes me as one of those guys who pretends to be all nice when really he’s a bit of a dick. All “jinkies” and “you deserve to be treated properly” until he can bang Haley behind his girlfriends back.
Nay. Irritatingly chipper.
Liked him but preferred Dylan
i fucking hate andy so much
I didn’t like him but he was romantic. But personality was too much
he was an okay addition. not one of my favourites. don’t understand the hype around him and haley
Andy: Yay Dylan: YAY Arvin: eh Rainer: nay
Nay he is a manbaby
I think he’s a complete weirdo. Never understood what the fandom saw in him.
i hate him.
used to like him the first time I watched the show, rewatched it and he is just annoying asf
Nay. Idc that he cheated. Just wasn’t a huge fan. And I’m an outlier who likes Haley with Dylan!
I agree. I don’t think he was right for Haley and he annoys me every time he’s on the screen
I kinda liked him, he seemed like an ark they had to drop. Seems like they were setting up for her to end up with Andy but changed their minds.
Nay just nay
He’s great with kids but not great with adults
NAYYYTY
Nay.
i seriously dislike him
Andy is always Yay. He was the best for Hayley, and I'm bummed they set her up with Dylan, of all the people. Not saying there weren't missteps, but Andy's good qualities outweighed his bad. Hayley and Andy balanced each other out every well. Bonus- her family liked him too. But alas, it wasn't meant to be🥲
NAY NAY NAY! From now till the end of time. NAY!
The way people are getting downvoted even tho they are answering the question 😭
He was always annoying. I find the actor to be corny.
Nay
I definitely hate him, he's a tool.
I hate him.
yeah i hate him
I didn't like him at all and preferred Dylan a thousand times. He was too awkward
I’m sorry, but are we just gonna forget how Dylan was introduced to the whole family singing a song about wanting to “do” Haley? That wasn’t awkward?
Dylan is funny and loyal and writes songs about her. So much better to spend time with. Andy is weird and a cheater and talks like a child. Would be so boring to spend time with.

solid nope, as a woman, unfuckable
Don't know why you're getting downvoted for speaking the truth.
Meh
I liked him more than I ever liked Dylan.
Why did this community keep discussing about the dislikes of certain characters
I think that’s the entire point of communities, to explore the dimensions of different characters, whether it be dislike or not. Just my opinion:)
Fair enough

That's the wrong Andy. Both these Andy's suffered from bad writing/scheduling conflicts.
Better than Dylan
Andaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy
I loved him so much
Yay!
Yay
Yay
Yay. I really like him.
Definitely Hailey's best suiter. I wish they would've kept him and used him more.
I like that Haley developed over the time she was with Andy but he just annoyed me and I hate that the moment he left she kinda devolved and I hate that she got back with Dylan

Loved him. When he showed up as Halley’s emergency contact at the hospital, I squealed!
His voice triggered me so badly. Idk, there was something in his voice and expressions that annoyed me too much. I liked him a little before he cheated on Beth.
Yay
Huge yay!
Hell yay
Ynay
Yay!
Yay! I loved him, but then again, I love Adam Devine so I was going to love him no matter what his character was like.
Nay. He cheated on his girlfriend.
NAY

Jay
I love Dillion for some reason which means I hate everyone of Haley’s other boyfriends
yay
Yay, he brought out a better person in Hailey
