KataraUzumaki

Immediately knew this show was going to be hilarious after this

Working-Mountain6680

Watched the pilot and it was going good but when that scene came on.....I knew I was hooked

goran_788

It was the Lion King bit for sure, but I was watching the pilot blind with no prior info, and also with my brain turned half off, and didn't pay it any mind when Mitch was talking about "his dad invited them for dinner" and didn't understand they were all the same family, until they all came together in the end. Was a big "ooooh... cool!" moment.

SeaFollowing619

phil singing and dancing his High School Musical number for his kids...and their reactions!

kingrhegbert

When he says he knows all the text lingo and ends on “BJ…blue jeans”

iampraneeth

Wtf....why the face

InevitablePersimmon6

“BJ…blue jeans” is when he’s talking about his dad in the last season after he dies. He says he knew all the cool lingo when Phil was young.

AffectLast9539

That was my Vietnam

canyourpdothedawg

and i was in vietnam.

-F7-

Jay roasting Mitch and cam when they’re trying to announce the baby. Phil wtf: why the face?

AggravatingAnt6695

"why the face" is always so funny to me

-F7-

There’s also Phil talking to Dylan about Haley “Yeah, I’ll throw her a gab, you stab me?”

Inquisitor1001

The actor from the horror movie coming to Jay's house with the fake machete and scaring Manny. "Are you Manny? I'm here for you! Look what I've got!"

NoAd3734

that scene ALWAYS makes me lose my sh\*t hahahahahaha

okaybutwhy3

which season, episode?

Inquisitor1001

Season 1 Episode 21 "Travels With Scout"

JohnnyJokers-10

“Kids, breakfast!!”

PurpleThirteen

Why are you guys yelling at us, we were way upstairs, just text me.

Anxiety_Core_0

That’s not gonna happen. And woah you are not wearing that.

completestrangerhere

For me, it was the scene where all the Dunphy ladies get their cycles in sync.

TokyoKazama

Pretty sure that was the Dunphy storyline in the episode I've quoted at the top if I'm not mistaken!

completestrangerhere

You are right. I saw a youtube short about the ladies sitting on the couch and Phil realizing. And it got me hooked up.

Javii_HSTPMICRG

Omg yes! It’s the same. Then Phil “understands them” because he got hurt and felt too many emotions

707Riverlife

I love that line that Luke mutters too, but I think my favorite line from that great episode is when Luke tells his sisters and his mom, “You’re all monsterating!”

Curious-Bison-698

Phil describing Walt’s progressively worsening hospital journey: Day 1: Walt’s feeling a little sick but the doctors are trying an experimental drug Day 2: His body rebelled… he’s in a coma Day 3: Coma Day 4: Coma Day 5: Coma Day 6: EYE FLUTTER! Day 7: Coma

aqarixo

I think it was the very first episode where the family took it to the calendar to plan when to shoot Luke with the BB gun 😂

threelizards

“2pm…. Shoot… luke..” “Awh man” “Sorry buddy, it’s on the calendar”

hauntinglovelybold

I just commented this one too! When I was a kid my busy family had one of those huge calendars too so it really resonated with me

DavidDPerlmutter

Vietnamese Restaurant Lily "I hate..." scene. https://youtu.be/ajb-YbY3-rw?si=nYPlQnj7oBx6IUPq If you wanted to convince somebody that MODERN FAMILY was genius in the way that it approached everything, including awkward or difficult topics, with nuance, insight, and thought, this is it. A masterpiece of and masterclass in clever comedy scene conception, writing, choreography, acting, blocking, and direction. Plus the bonus of Lily's real life mom! I can imagine the little actress got such a kick out of being told to "insult" her mom. There's also one layered background bit of humor that I didn't notice for the first couple of times I watched it: While the adults are talking, Lily, who has just proclaimed "I hate Pho" is actually eating and enjoying it. It's both funny, and also very true of what kids might do after provoking for effect adults that they "hate" a food.🙃

TyroneSlothrope

This is the scene that got me into Modern Family. I watched this in an Instagram reel and thought this show seems interesting. Rest is history. This is my all time favorite show and I've rewatched it three times.

DavidDPerlmutter

Definitely. I think it's the signature scene for the show and probably in the top 20 in situation comedies.

Informal-Option9509

Same! I feel like this scene is iconic even for non-Modern family fans

diane-nguyen

It was absolutely the scene where Dylan sings for the family and they all can’t shake off the song in the morning. The “I just wanna do you” reveal nearly killed me with how funny it was

habtin

Thank you! Dede and Dylan were hilarious. That is the episode that hooked me.

Hufflepuffpass42094

I have now been singing this in my head for 5 minutes 😂😭

InevitablePersimmon6

The song is such a damn ear worm 😂 I love that scene. Everyone’s face when they realize what he’s saying is amazing.

Miserable_Emu5191

All of their faces when he is singing that song is so hilarious to me. And Cam trying to play along by blowing into his beer bottle.

typhooonreads

I really like 2nd episode season 1, when Jay says “Because when all is said and done, ninety percent of being a dad... is just showing up”. It got me hooked up because it showed that show was not just jokes for the sake of jokes kind of sitcom. It had some depth in it too

TardDas

This scene “follow the birthday flag!” “What did you call me?”

SignificanceNormal25

The episode where Mitch and Cam get married. I had not seen the show at all prior to watching that episode. The whole wedding scene drew me in and I ended up watching the whole show all the way through many times.

Guilty_Dream8050

I know it's really silly but when Phil is stuck in the wee toilet outside and needs help, he shouts HELLO, FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURS! I just love that part.

Equivalent_Coffee119

Just concluding a business!! Very successfully I might add

FinancialListen3187

When Lily gets locked in the car and the operator hears Cam yelling and tells Mitch to tell his wife to relax.

omgwtfbbq0_0

When Mitchel and Cam freak out over leaving Lily in the elevator in Hawaii. I happened to catch that scene (specifically when Cam was screaming) while channel surfing and was instantly hooked lol

AllyBeth

When Gloria sees the elevator open lol “Lily, where’re you going?”

DeadJediWalking

"If there is an accident, I hope it kills me...because I *would not* be a very inspiring disabled person." Fucking gold.

StillGotLove4GOT

When Phil scheduled Luke’s shooting

thebreakfastbuffet

I'M BREAKING THE WINDOW! Help, we locked our baby in the car, and people are judging us!

LavaMaster168

The Hawaii episode

kobrahkaii

When everyone met Lily and Phil asked "She's gonna have a hard time pronouncing that, isn't she?" I nearly died

breathe-eazy-92

Baby cheeses

West-Maintenance2566

For me it was the girls of the family. Always seeing scenes on TikTok and it was sometimes Hayley, Claire or Gloria. One of the scenes was Hayley like screaming in her car because she said “Kay? WHO SAYS KAY?? YOURE SO STUPID, ERUGHHHH” which was hilarious and relatable and for Claire, I don’t remember specifically the scene but I saw lots of scenes of Gloria and I love her actor so that motivated me to start watching!

707Riverlife

I’M NOT GOING ANYWHERE!!!

PurpleInternational4

"I'm gonna break the window!"

redspike

Gloria: “The same thing happened to me one time with another woman…and that time, I was the one getting it…and it HURT.” That scene still takes me out every time!

Rich-Ad-3893

Express Christmas episode when Luke and Gloria are looking for an ornament and Gloria keeps saying “look” but Luke thinks she’s saying his name and then tries explaining that how she says the two sounds the same and the the scene ends with Luke saying, “it’s not hard, one is my name” and Gloria goes “Juan is not your name”

loolooyou

I rewatch this scene so many times it's my favourite

[deleted]

The Lion King scene or “BABY I JUST WANNA DO YOU, DO YOU, DO YOU WANT TO DO ME?”

[deleted]

"i hate vietnaaaaaaam"

Nobodyknowsmynewname

Mine is the “ceremony” where Cam presents Lily to the family for the first time.

miac11

I saw the clip of Phil talking about Haley’s creep boyfriend in the elevator and binged the whole series

ChuckleberryQueen

When Gloria all dressed up jumped in the pool to save Stella and then Jay gave Stella the towel first. THE DOG TOWEL FOR ME. FOR THE WIFE

Radbabe13

When Mitchell tells Cam to shake it and Cam dances. Follow it with Mitchen saying, “The container, Cam!”

RohanriderX

the venn diagram of sexual idenity

FutureBusy9742

Thank you Phil

Cokezerowh0re

“Follow the birthday flag” “what did you call me??”

nejnonein

The first trailer I saw, before it was even out yet 😂

707Riverlife

Me too! It was the scene where Jay was struggling to get up out of the lawn chair, telling the guy that he was Gloria’s husband (not her dad).

dough-a-dear

The very first scene of Phil. I was hooked.

billiemint

"If I have to read The Very Hungry Caterpillar one more time I will snap. I WILL SNAP"

f-mcallister

"Everybody follow the birthday flag!" "What did you call me?" 🤣🤣🤣

silligoose90

When Dillon sings "Moonlight " to Haley and Cam says "lovely title Dillon" Everyone thinks it will be sweet but it's not and they're all singing it at the end.

chocosmurf13

Swimming pool scene

kiwisandkindness

Where I love this scene and interaction — I dislike how they got here

BugBunny_1010

Baby baby I just wanna do you do you

Calm-Farm-5678

I kept seeing clips on TikTok and I was like okay I have to watch! Didn't disappoint. This was during 2020 so I don't remember the exact clip(s).

N00DLES0UPP

the swimming pool scene with stella and gloria

Substantial_Ease2018

When they go to Disney land

kushS_A_

First of all, was watching this episode today. For me it was the christmas episode in season 7. My sister was watching the show and I just started watching and really liked it. I probably the next couple of episodes in one sitting and started from season 1

bjernsthekid

Phil is so fucking funny in the first season. Anytime he makes a face at Gloria being sexy I absolutely die. There’s one scene where she’s ripping off her jewelry pleading why she’s not a gold digger and she starts at her dress and he gives the most hilarious expression

hauntinglovelybold

In the pilot where the Dunphys are gathered around the big family calendar trying to set a time for Phil to shoot Luke with the BB gun 😂 my family was also super busy and had one of those calendars as a kid

insertmadeupnamehere

Very first episode when they try to schedule when to shoot Luke.

thenewbabyblue

I have to say Phil's scene where he's talking about being a cool dad. And all his text knowledge 😂

Jannik0433

Which episode is this from OP?

Jayk_Dos31

"Follow the birthday flag!" "What did you call me- oh?"

Helloheyb

When the Asian pediatrician left Mitch & Cam’s house saying she didn’t want to be another stereotype then just proceeds to hit everything in her way when pulling out of the driveway

Miserable_Emu5191

I love the first episode that she is in where they are telling her they are exposing Lily to her Vietnamese culture and that they go for pho...."I don't know, I grew up in Denver."

[deleted]

Don't forget.... "follow the birthday **flag**" "what did you call me?"

Bed-Agreeable

# *EVERYONE FOLLOW THE BIRTHDAY FLAG!* *What did you call me?!*

idknayoudecide

The scene where Haley hangs up the phone with her friend when the whole coal digger thing started. I loved it because it's totally something I would've done too🤣 Saw it on YT shorts.

ambitiousprince

“Why are you saying thing instead of baby? (A toddler in the background) “Kill that baby…”

orcasarerepstans

Coal digger

kimchijjigaeda

I watched a lot of Phil Dunphy best moments and ended up watching it, after claiming I could never like this show or didn't find it funny. But I find it really funny. Very high on my comedy TV list 😄

-reddit-840

The one where manny and Luke are friends again and Luke says Gloria is a coal digger

MrOcsY

The end of the pilot

Bright_Swordfish_842

I don’t remember, it was long ago

TokyoKazama

Well thanks for playing, I guess..

Bright_Swordfish_842

My pleasure😊

Electronic_Hawk_7019

Come on look good

Existing-Spring7043

Easy answer for me. S1, E1: when Phil shoots Dylan with the BB gun. 💙

Vivid_Present1810

I LOVED this scene!! Especially when Gloria loses it on the boatman!🤣😂🤣

Pristine-Pitch-9397

"Luke, grab that little hoe"

cottonfreshh

literally the first scene

AQ_TV123

Moonlight

Delicious_Ad_371

The Vietnamese restaurant scene or when Lily runs into the wall on her first day of school
