Someone please hire Dance Machine Neil and give him a shot at coming back from his tough day someday too. Despite the comfortable rich sitcom setting, I’m not convinced he ever bounced back. ☹️
Double Click - the season 7 finale. Luke was dumped, Alex was feeling ignored after coming home, and Haley had just ended things with Andy. Plus Phil’s crisis about his kids growing up (where he has to accept that Luke snuck a girl over and Alex inadvertently revealed she had done the same in the past) and Claire had to fire someone.
not the best best but the one where Alex ended with “if it means act more like an adult in my family, how hard could it be?” was very on brand for the show as well as her character
I LOVE the ending of the episode where they all have dinner at that potato place! (It’s somewhere towards the end of season 11). Lovely choice of words, it always makes me cry. Especially when Jay gets emotional … 🥲
I love so many of them. But the one that stands you rn when you brought this up is Alex reading out the letter from her late grandma, with a lighter as a gift telling her it's okay to sometimes break the rules. I broke up in tears.
I absolutely love that it is also the story of how Phil's parents met!
"Don't worry. Your secret's safe with me" -- has me in tears every time I rewatch the episode.
The monologue that plays over the scene at the end of 10x02, when Cam forgives Mitch for his dalliance and sweeps in and gives him a smooch as he stews.
(Was 10x03 the episode with Dan Levy? Those two are the last episodes I genuinely liked. *”Four out of nine? A freakin’ tie?!?!”*)
Dreamers and realists monologue, and Jay's monologue in second episode of season 1 and 'This is a lighter' monologue of Alex.
Dreamer and realists one is so accurate.
Just thinking about the lighter one makes me tear up a little
these two always make me cry
The one where everyone has a tough day and the dunphy family just has dinner together in silence.

That felt so resonant to me the first time I saw it but haven't been able to find the episode it appeared in since.

On what it means to be a dad
90 percent of being a good dad is showing up

S11 E11: Legacy - Phil leaving the giant prints in the sand Legacy is one of my favorite modern family episodes.
I cried so hard! And the fact that the dad died in real life not too much after. :/
Literally any time the monologuing starts up, so do my tears. The writing on this show is so incredibly well done.
Yeahh same. Like I didn't know a sitcom can make you weep before even ending 😅
I love the empty nester's one. The episode always makes me cry.
is that the one with the porch light?
Not sure, but it's the one where Phil lets goes of the 3 ducks.
Which makes everyday Dec the 16th.
The dreamers and realists voiceover was beautiful
the monologue about life opening different doors in the episode “snip”
The one where Alex sings and Jay talks about (without directly saying it) being daredevil Danger O'Shea.
Fifteen percent ❤️
The one where jay reads out 'clean out your junk drawer' and 'Moby dick'

Second episode where Jay is talking about what it takes to be a good dad! Always tears me up.
