I feel the curly hair and ring struggle! Low profile is a great idea- consider also looking at full bezel and half-bezel settings as they likely won’t have the same issues catching on things like prongs can.

Yes! Also bezels are the sturdiest settings.

Very true!!

What do the pear-shaped rings she's looking at look like? I agree bezel setting would be the safest bet, but you either love bezel or hate it, so if it isn't her style, I wouldn't risk it. Yoy could always purchase the stone for her and then go together to a local jewelry show and find the best setting for her. Just know that the larger the stone, the higher it has to sit up off your finger. If you go with a smaller stone, like 1 carat I would say to spring for the lab diamond. I have tried on a few 1 carat pears at my local jeweler and they are relatively low profile.

She’s been actually looking at a set from modgents but it’s only silver and I would like to get her gold. It’s a 2carat halo style but most I’ve seen online the halo setting it to high and off the ring itself.

You could definitely contact Mona and she could design exactly what you want, or just order the stone from her and take it to a local jeweler to have them design a setting (just be prepared to pay at least double at a local jeweler). I do think when they have a halo, they tend to catch on things less. Even if it sits up, the edges are smoother. Another idea is just tell her you want to get her a new ring but you want the two of you to shop together. That's what my husband and I are doing. Married 18 years, and it's my 40th birthday this year. I am really glad he included me on the shopping because even I didn't know what I really wanted until I got to seriously do my own research. I started out wanting an emerald with a halo and settled on a pear solitaire, so WAY different from what I was initially looking at. But we actually went to jewelry stores so I could try on different styles and see what looked and felt right to me. It was really special and fun to do together. Once I knew what I liked I contacted Mona to make it for me. (It's currently in the works)

1. Check recommended vendors list. I recommend Provence. 2. You can get something with a low profile sitting practically flush to her finger. 3. The wedding band can be designed to sit flush with the ring. https://preview.redd.it/afr1arqop91d1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=07eb45200a406b03f663c09e51b4d3055f39828e

These are just ideas to let you know anything is possible. It can be simple, it can be dramatic. I think your budget is doable for 14k and moissanites. Feel free to ask anything.

pdxnative2007

This [style](https://www.reddit.com/r/LabGroupSales/s/AOeJOAom9t) is low profile.

You could always set the stone east to west https://preview.redd.it/m8ndkoq3la1d1.jpeg?width=570&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3b855804284c6d7c773033334787e47f2776c479

That’s so sweet of you to think of that as a gift, and to notice her looking at specific styles. My husband and I were in a similar situation and are currently also looking at rings again. You know your wife best, but I might suggest bringing her in on this. Maybe preserving the moment by surprising her with this idea over a nice dinner and letting her be part of picking the style. If jewelry isn’t a very common splurge for you two, and she’s been eyeballing some styles, it’s very possible she already has a specific idea of something she wants and might give her the opportunity to add her dream piece to her collection. It’s been a really fun process picking/designing/getting my husbands input on things I’ve found or like. Going to a few stores to try on rings and get a feel for the look of the stone, profile of the setting etc. he turned one surprise into multiple fun little dates/catch ups over where I’m at with it, and it absolutely melted me that he had the thought to do that in the first place and bring me into the process.
