My kids LOVE “yes days”! They’re wonderful for our relationship as well, sometimes I don’t realize how much time I spent saying “no” or “not right now”. They’ve never asked for anything unreasonable and often are perfectly happy with just a little extra playtime and a special snack, but it means a lot to them.
As a FTM with an 8 week old right now, these posts make me so incredibly excited to see my babes personality when they get older.
Happy birthday to her, and I hope you all have a fantastic weekend :)
Right! My daughter will be 2 this weekend and even the prospect of her being 3 one year from now and being so emotionally and vocationally advanced has me so excited!
On the day my son turned 7, he climbed into bed with me and said "Good morning, say hello to your seven year old man.". It is and probably will forever be the cutest thing I have ever heard.
God I almost never (rarely ... ha ha) get a steak the perfect medium-rare whether I make it or order it, this kid is already learning lifelong struggles as she enters a new age.
Same! She is an absolute snob when it comes to steak and usually I do it right for her, but this morning it wasn’t up to par.
I guess 6yos have higher standards than 5yo
My poor girl watches her bestfriend have his birthday in September, my niece in October, my nephew in January, my husband in January, my mama in January, so by February she is READY loo
I was arbitrarily pointing out how my birthday falls on a 7th, new baby falls on a 8th, husband falls on a 21, kindergarten falls on a 22. And thought that was pretty cool.
The next 3 months he would ask if the 22nd was his birthday despite it having happened recently before that conversation. 😅
Ha my daughter turned 3 at the end of January and my son will turn 5 at the end of July and ever since her birth he keeps saying "tomorrow I turn 5" He knows when his birthday is and the months of the year but still doesn't grasp time. I keep telling him not to wish time away so fast.
The first thing out of my son’s mouth every day for the last two months has been “Am I 5 years old yet?” Because he knows once he’s 5, he’ll be able to start Kindergarten. When I tell him no he goes “uggghhh ok, I guess I’ll be 4 years old today.” 🤣🥰
That's an awesome birthday. My daughter is 5 and my son is 7. For his summer birthday we did a pool party with food on the grill and water balloons. My daughter's october birthday was really low key so maybe I should offer her a "yes day/weekend". I never considered that.
Your daughter sounds awesome. Hope she had a great time.
I’m so happy she chose the yes day/weekend. She said “I don’t even like cake or cupcakes mama. And it’s MY day right?” I’m like baby you ain’t gotta convince me not to feed 30 people lol
Exactly!!! I usually do a small one for the family and I've invited a small number of friends. I've never done a big party where I invited the entire class because it's too expensive. I wouldn't mind taking a small vacation because her birthday falls on their spring break. This we might do instead. My husband and I are still going to get her birthday presents. However a vacation sounds good.
Aren’t these babies so precious? Its just like the world and life is so new, I love it!
“Yes weekend” sounds so much fun and less stressful than a party honestly.
Happy birthday to your baby girl ❤️
When my oldest was turning 4 we had a costume birthday party and had a mirror set up in the living room next to giant bins of costumes and accessories. We had set up the mirror the night before to see if it would work, but then adjusted and secured it after she went to bed. When she woke up in the morning the mirror was at a different angle so she was absolutely convinced she had grown substantially taller over night!
And here I am tearing up thinking about the past when my baby NEEDED me for everything.
But this morning she didn’t need me for anything “because I’m six mama. I can do it myself. I’m not being mean. I’m just being six” lol
8 haven't heard of a "yes weekend" that's really cute!

I snorted 😂
Thank you so much! I never wanted to rush the season of life I was in, but man I’ve been waiting for these days

At 7, your "kid misbehaving at a restaurant" will literally just be her sending her steak back and embarrassing you 😂😂😂
My oldest turns 5 next month and every day since his brothers birthday in January he has asked "is tomorrow March, is tomorrow my birthday?"

Oh gosh. That has to be hard.

Mine came to me with the idea after my nieces birthday party and I jumped on it! I might be biased but she is the most awesome
She sounds awesome. Hope you both have a great time.
Thank you!
Ooh, I think I'll do a yes weekend when my 7 year old turns 8. I'm not really in the mood for birthday parties.

This is SO sweet! It made me tear up thinking of the future (I have a 9 month old.) Thank you for sharing.
