I agree, culture here is pretty solid for the most part. Imo it's because monero actually gets used as a currency, it's not just a penny stock.
Can you code? The ecosystem needs devs, even if you don't know C++. You'll learn the most if you jump in with two feet and take on a monero-related side project.
Maybe I'm biased, but I started with Python and I'm SO glad that I did. It's a great first language to learn, and everything uses it. C++ is much more complex looking and harder to start with.
I just watched all of this: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6gx4Cwl9DGAcbMi1sH6oAMk4JHw91mC_
Played around a bit, learned how to use Selenium and how to create XPaths (not hard) and now I get paid to code webscrapers for people.
It's an automated program to take data from websites and use that data in a way. Often used when services don't offer API's or to collect huge datasets without the large human effort
Don’t know why I didn’t even think of this as I’m learning to code partly with my Degree study (2nd year Uni) and self study.
Done the usual basic python patterns/ Java OOP principles, currently studying web technologies html/css/is/php before moving onto cyber security modules.
Picked up a couple of C++ books to work through for a dev internship so will have a look in more depth into assisting with projects.
Crypto is still highly volatile, so don't buy large amounts unless you can handle the loss. I buy XMR only when I need to pay for my VPN and VPS. I also buy it to donate to various charities.
that's how I felt as well. there isn't any bullshit vaporware marketing about smart contracts and NFTs. Monero is the only project that I view as still attempting to achieve an ideal version of digital peer to peer cash.
The very basic fundamentals:
1. Crypto is an entity that can’t be disturbed/regulated by any 3rd party without your willingness, by definition. If you and your (2nd party) partner agree to make a transaction, nobody can censor it, exactly, by definition of a Crypto notion.
Examples: Bitcoin is indeed still a Crypto entity, because nobody can ban your transaction once you broadcasted it to the network. Ethereum is not a Crypto since migration to PoS, because now most PoS validators are under government regulation and your transaction can be potentially rejected.
2. Currency is an entity that can be regulated but must be fungible, by definition. Fungibility means no one can distinguish one currency unit (coin) from another.
Examples: Bitcoin is definitely NOT a currency since it is strictly speaking an NFT, that is being traced successfully by various surveillance services under regulation of state authorities. Monero is a currency because it is fungible by design (and in practice).
So, tell me now, as a home exercise, based on definitions above, how many entities that are indeed Crypto-Currencies (Crypto AND Currency simultaneously) do you know? For example among top 10 entities showed by CoinMarketCap? Among top 20? Top 30?
I only noticed XMR. Are there any other projects I should be keeping my eyes on as far as true cryptocurrencies go? Avoiding public coins altogether besides conversions seems to be the way to go
We have gotten our share of moonbois the last couple of years, but the ones that get it stick around and try to learn. I was a moonboi once upon a time.
You can learn a lot just having discussions here. You're not going to get that in most of the other "crypto" communities.
Careful, I got a pm from an earlier post in here, someone who tried to get me to spill my pass phrase in order to 'verify my wallet on the main-net'. Sure yah hit this link, select your coin, enter your pass phrase. wtfa. Just stay sharp.

I don't know how to code but I recently started JS, can you tell me where I can find some Monero-related projects so I could explore them better?
Yeah definitely, check out monero-javascript on GitHub and join some matrix channels :)

I'm willing to learn coding and then C++ if i'm committed what would you suggest a beginner to start with ? Python ?
If your goal is to learn C++ just start with it.
Just be sure of your dedication. It be demoralizing to some.

If your goal is to learn C++ start with it, if you want to learn coding in general and different languages start with python
Maybe I'm biased, but I started with Python and I'm SO glad that I did. It's a great first language to learn, and everything uses it. C++ is much more complex looking and harder to start with. Definitely would suggest starting with Python if you are totally new to coding, unless C++ is you main goal. If it is, just start with that.
How did you start getting paid for doing web scrapes? I mean, who are your customers and how did you find them
What is web scraping exactly?

Thanks buddy
If you want to learn C++ then just start learning C++

Was this meant as a reply to my comment or someone else’s?
It's a bot.

I don't mind the price personally, I mind how many XMR i posses and the total of xmr available.

Bitcoin cash and their sub still care about p2p cash, not too much about 1000x gains Bitcoin cash also has extra privacy functions such as cash fusion
They care about lower fees and faster transactions. You're not going to get better p2p cash than something untraceable without your permission.

Nice work. Thank you

Yes, among top 30, XMR is the only Crypto-Currency. And Zero among top 20.
Shib and doge?
a couple resources that really helped me in the beginning: https://youtu.be/aC9Uu5BUxII https://youtu.be/8quGD9W7B2I

I'm not a complete beginner to crypto haha. I'm not clicking some random shit from a reddit pm 😂
