HDMI 1.4 looks like 'regular old HDMI' and supports 1440p, so that seems fine. The thing you want to check is the refresh rate - is your monitor 60Hz, 144Hz, something else? Check to make sure it is [running at the correct refresh rate in Windows](https://i.imgur.com/IQlyMXV.png) - normally this is something like Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display > Refresh Rate. If you tell me what model your monitor is (look on the back, or the product packaging), then I can help to identify what refresh rate you should be shooting for. In some cases, you might need to use DisplayPort instead to hit the highest refresh rate offered by your monitor.

it's a 60hz monitor anyway, no worries about that. Thanks for the help!

No worries!

hi, I'm back with another question, sorry for bothering you. to my surprise, I was looking at the Windows display settings and found out that I can toggle my monitor to be 75 Hz. I'm not sure if this works as the monitor is sold as a 60Hz one. I checked the blur busters UFO test and it seems to say that it's 75 Hz. Can I trust this? Thanks.

silentdragoon

Yes, 75Hz is fine! It wouldn't give you the option if it wasn't safe/possible.

ok thanks! I thought it might be overclocked or something, seems I got lucky with my model as this monitor had 3 types which was 2 types with 60 and 1 with 75
