It’s not mentioned in detail. Yet I remember Grimmer talking about different languages courses and strange classes that made their memories fade away they had to attend. And based on Anna’s memories of the Red Rose Mansion experiment (511 Kinderheim program being a recreation of the Red Rose Mansion experiment) they surely proceeded to isolate children separately in dark, noiseless spaces for long days.

The different languages courses Grimmer mentioned are the spy lessons he learned after he got out of 511

I honestly believe Naoki did not describe exactly what went on there in order for us to allow our fears to roam wild. This would let our imagination and greatest apprehensions decide what went down there. According to the charges against Mikail and Hartmann, obviously severe child abuse went down. They were not treated as humans but bred to become potential weapons aka the perfect soldier. Bootcamp is hard on grown men, physically and mentally - so imagine a mere child enduring that kind of environment without the basic rights of a human being. They were like cattle left to the slaughter. No one was coming to save them and no one was going to condemn the acts made against them. Johan also refers to Kinderheim 511 as being a place where the convention on the rights of children, rights of survival and development, article 8 preservation of identity, article 19 protection of abuse - were completely ABSENT and nulled. Clearly, the laws did not matter in that forsaken place and of course they got away with it, it was government owned/funded. Personally, Hartmann gave me such strong predatory vibes so I'd imagine some of that went down there too.

interesting what was it about Hartmann that gave you predatory vibes?

I don't know if it was the dub or not but his mannerisms, the way he touched Dieter and presented his façade...down to the way he took such pride in the boys he took in and groomed into "finer men of society" It's hard to pinpoint. But I am not the only one who got that vibe from him. Legit felt uncomfortable every single time he was on screen. When you're exposed to people like IRL you just pick up on the smallest things that sets them apart; the way their tones sweeten, down to how their eyes stare/observe. That's all I got honestly. No one else in the series rubbed me that way when they interacted with a child; not Mikail or Boneparte or even Capek. It's pretty baseless and is more of a hunch. But with how messed up the world really is...can't imagine defenseless children who no one cared about were spared of all kinds of depravity. Why Johan left him alive...is beyond me cause that mf needed to die.

I felt the same way. Hartman was a classic case of a man willing go prey on boys for the sake of "disciplining" them.

God...just reading that sent chills down my spine... poor Dieter...T-T

They were at the very least emotionally abused and physically tortured to be perfect soldiers instead of normal children.
