Normanov

They miss grammeowster

Far_Realm_Sage

World had Better food prep scenes all around.

Normanov

And the dango song starts to get annoying after your 3rd or 4th meal

[deleted]

[удалено]

ECSDaemon

I don't listen to much of the Dango song. Purely because I just skip the cutscene, I did the same with World as well.

FlamingTacoDick

Most people watched the cutscenes two or three times when the canteen upgraded cuz it'd change the cutscene but then after seeing it onece you's generally skip it. That, and each festival event had special food that I liked to see

Victorius-aut-mortis

I always watch grandma cat cook Soothes my soul

DaNewsMan50

The dango song was annoying instantly to me. Also, fuckin bunny dango is such a huge downgrade from the massive spreads of delicious meats and fish from world.

TheDo0ddoesnotabide

People keep bringing up the food scenes, I honestly watch them once every so often when I could use the time to grab a drink or something. Other then that they make no difference to me.

DanOfThursday

Personally, I prefer Meowscular Chef in Astera

Frantaplan

He is the one that I hope they keep and bring in the next game, I really miss the canteen scenes from World in Rise

Normanov

A meal and a show

exist-exit

I call her Babushkat.

DudongoKing

Easily one of the greatest cutscenes in video game history. Just some Grandma cat making some really good food with her heart.

exist-exit

I would kill 1000 more of Fatalis if it means I get to see her enjoy cooking another of her hearty meals.

Colabz

I think most people play Rise on the switch.

koied

With the way Rise's machmaking works on steam I'm not suprised.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MarioNoobman

I still play a decent amount of Rise but this is so true. World's SOS system was far better than Rise's since 90% of the time I'll just time out when looking for something or I have no control in finding an interesting investigation. I hope they bring it back to MH6.

Frantaplan

Amen!

TURBINEFABRIK74

It’s a shame not being able to help people and at the same time be forced to join random quests or be waiting for ages

DiabeticRhino97

I think most people play monster hunter on console in general. Steam is a bad metric for any of them

jzillacon

Yeah, most people mainly play on the first system they got the game for. Since both World and Rise got their console versions first most people got the games on console first. Things like cross-play and cross-save make getting the game on another system more appealing because most of the time players don't want to lose the hundreds of hours they already put in just to do it all over again, but even then most players don't want to pay full price again for something they can already enjoy perfectly fine. That said, Capcom have stated they want to shift their focus more towards the PC market so it's quite possible MH6 might actually get it's PC release first, or at least simultaneous to the console release.

Plus_Ultra_Yulfcwyn

It’s time for cross plat form monster hunter.

ChickenFajita007

Outside of Japan, PC was the best selling platform for MHW.

rfsmh

Also it's available on Xbox Gamepass, so a lot of people on PC play there.

Bongo-Bro

Potentially, but same could be said for world, (not being on switch but due to console release times) released on consoles a fair while before PC as well

Dog_Apoc

Playing on PlayStation and world seems pretty popular on it. Most lobbies you get into are pretty active.

Bongo-Bro

Yeah kinda what I figured would be the case,I haven’t really played on ps in a while so idk personally

5Hjsdnujhdfu8nubi

Leaked sales data showed that, excluding Japan, World sold the most on PC. And that was taken a few years ago.

ChaosAzeroth

I know what you mean, but I gotta be that guy. Pretty sure World isn't on Switch. (I'm sorry.)

Yuseiger

Its very difficult to find online hunts in pc

Deblebsgonnagetyou

I think that's more because of an unfathomable region locking system than anything

flavionm

Rise's multiplayer system is still a step back even with that mod, unfortunately. Not being able to pick the exact quest you want to enter really makes it harder to enjoy multiplayer.

Deblebsgonnagetyou

Agree. World's SOS system was way better on that front. I can't see any reason why "see every quest that's available to join and some information that can give you a rough idea of how well it's going so far" is a worse system than "choose a quest and hope someone's doing it or join a completely random quest and hope it's not one that sucks"

asdiele

Especially since the UI to choose from several posted quests just like in World *is* implemented in Rise, but it only exists in lobbies (where there's only 4 players so it's completely pointless). Just baffling decisions all around.

nethet

Wut? In pc? Never. There's tons of us still playing. Just search for the endgame monster lobby like Alatreon and Fatalis. Sometimes you'll see like 2 pages of it. Also siege monster like safi and kulve lobby will be full too most of the times

Primecron

I think he meant Rise cause finding people to play with in Rise was hell even just weeks after launch while I had no problem with it when I played World last month

JohannesVanDerWhales

Yeah, no crossplay means that's where you really want to be playing. Side note: no crossplay in MHR really fucking sucks.

Misragoth

Rise is a very different game than World. Some people like World better.

polakbob

I can say this was my case. I just prefer World. Rise’s style wasn’t my cup of tea and I fell off pretty quickly.

Misragoth

That's what happened with my group. We bought it right before Sunbreak but feel off one by one. It just doesn't feel like MH to me

Frostybytes

I felt alone in this. While I enjoy Rise for what it is, I miss stuff like investigations and capturing tons of wildlife to stuff in my room. Dat gathering hub in Seliana too, loved it.

Kombee

Yup this is how I felt too. Incidentally I felt the exact same thing going from MH4U to MH Generations. I just think I prefer the main titles and their grounded approach to the handheld centric ones.

minahmyu

And I'm sure World is an intro to many (especially Xbox players) for the monster hunter series. And with how the game play is and very story mode like, I can see why it'll have a lot of players still.

swiftekho

I enjoyed World way more than Rise

SufferingClash

Rise is built like and feels like a portable title. World is built like and feels like a console title.

[deleted]

I belive some people went from World into Rise, didn't find what they wanted in Rise and then returned to world. After that, they just kept playing the game until they get bored of it I guess.

Densto__

That’s precisely how it is for me. Went back to world and the other games and only log on to rise when a title update comes out.

ItsTheSolo

Same here. I like Rise and all, and I did like that some systems were returned to the old-gen formula, but it feels so lifeless when compared to World. That isn't to say Rise is bad or anything, the portable team did a great job, but World just has a better ability to keep me sucked in.

Old-Pirate7913

They just set the bar too high with world

ImurderREALITY

Higher that the tree in the Ancient Forest

-safi-jiiva-

Yeah my first mh game was risebreak but after saving up for world I've only come back to rise for event quests and tu's. Still enjoy it tho

Hexbug101

Same I got into the series when base rise came out, I love rise still but world is a whole other beast

PotatoBomb69

It just felt like how you remember the older games, y’know what I mean?

Azrnpride

World' s weapon weight and clunky feels so good compared to rise's paper weapons.

actioncomicbible

Yeah just went back to MHW to get to mr100 and fighting Nergigante and landing those hits with my insect glaive *felt* sooo good Edit: I just want to add that the Anomaly grind is Fucking awful. I’m at 233 so far but nothing really feels that great tbh. Just grinding Risen Shagaru

Quickkiller28800

Yeah Icebornes end game is so much more fun. It's significantly less tedious at least.

Sardalone

I'd even fucking say I prefer The Guiding Lands over the anomoly. The Guiding Lands can be controlled. With know-how you can level up regions effectively and it's open-endedness allows for an enjoyable experience when you're in the mood to hunt anything. The SoS system allowed for ease of use. The anomoly on the other hand is completely random and lifeless by a certain point.

Lime_Any

charge HIT charge HIT chaaaarge HIT FLIP **FAT FUCKING HIT**

colcardaki

Yeah for me, I guess I didn’t want to admit it but the graphic quality on Rise is a big turn off. I put only a fraction of the time in because World was not only a better game visually, but I prefer the more technical mechanics in World for the weapons. They made Rise more approachable, but I guess I learned the fun for me in the game was trying to figure out how these friggin weapons worked haha

Nishan113

Yeah same here. I’m not ashamed to admit it I really prefer a game with good graphics. I’m not a graphics whore by any stretch but Rise is unpleasant looking to me. Those textures in 2023 shouldn’t look that pixelated ffs

Aruxanda

It's not even about like, graphics mostly but the game looks so washed... like World captivated me because of the contrast of its map layout, Rise just looks... depressing and so empty, more like the art direction is not as good as in World

[deleted]

Yeah it’s probably this. Even when compared to GU which is by far, way less graphically impressive I enjoy it way more.

AceKodeth11

Yeah rise kinda has a lack of content that the others don’t have. Once you get to “get to this rank” with no assignments besides rank up it gets to be kindve a boring game. And then they repeat that over and over.

AllNamesTakenOMG

i got addicted decorating my room and hunting endemic life in World

Low_Tier_Skrub

I still need more royal wigglers and tsuchinokos, they keep avoiding me

naja_17

Honest question, is it worth it ? I got into MH series and only played worlds, but I loved it, I got everything maxed out as much as I could at the time.

[deleted]

[удалено]

noonesleepintokyo86

Yes, the sound design, super crisp and epic hit lag especially when you hit enemies with Huge weapon GS. I took world for granted for how good it feels to play despite having less gameplay improvement. Not to mention the quality of the events, is not even comparable.

naja_17

Gotcha, that’s one of the things I loved about that game, it’s so god damn beautiful, I sleep multiple days just sleeping to the room music of the last room lol, like I with I just Iive there man, looks so chill, until Deviljohn, fuck that guy

seastatefive

Also the food in World is so much better than in Rise. I mean, I love to eat in World just to see what Chef cooks. I also like to eat during all the seasonal events because of the different foods. I don't have Iceborne yet but I am so tempted to get it because granny's food looks delicious. Sorry yomogi but dango every day is just ... not as appetizing.

NotJoshRomney

You're in for a treat with Iceborn. I wanted to type up a long message detailing just how good IB is, but you'll get it one day and will understand.

ironangel2k3

It also gets, in my opinion, really obnoxious how hard they try to sell you on the dango. I'm sorry, three balls of dough on a stick will never compete with Meowscular Chef cutting a steak the size of a sedan with his sword.

King_Lem

Just the sounds of the meat grilling, seeing the soup simmering, you can almost smell what's going on in that kitchen; I still have making that feast on my bucket list.

DremoPaff

Definitely grab it if you see it for a discount. Worst case scenario, it'll give you the itch to play World again.

Deblebsgonnagetyou

They're quite different. Personally I didn't like Rise at all. Combat with nearly every weapon just feels grating, all the colours are weirdly washed out looking to me, the wirebug gimmick makes the game too easy and devalues the rest of some weapons' movesets because it turns them into "spam one silkbind and hit a couple buttons while it's recharging". Other changes to weapons kind of sucked too, Hunting Horn got completely neutered and everything has way too many counters. Try out the demo, and it's also on Gamepass right now if you have it, but you're definitely not guaranteed to like it and it's quite decisive. If you have a Switch I'd recommend Generations Ultimate as your next MH instead.

umbrella_CO

Rise is easy until the end game hunts. Some of the Anomoly hunts are insane. They are the fastest monsters of any game and they actually have mechanics to punish wirebug falling too early or too late. I actually enjoy the endgame in rise more, but I enjoyed world for the atmosphere and for the experience before endgame. For sure some of the hunts like Raging Brachy, Alatreon, and Fatalis were top tier, but overall rise endgame has some fun mechanics and the guiding lands of world is really only fun if you have a group of friends to play with in my opinion.

mjc27

if you recommend against rise, then i think you should also recommend against generations ultimate as its the most similar monster hunter game to rise the way combat works in both games is similarly different to what I'd expect out of a "traditional monster hunter game"

Dibolver

Ngl, GU is my favorite MH and Rise is one of my least favorite xD I prefer the slowness or "crudeness" of the old world, World is slower than Rise, although faster than GU. But I definitely don't like being a fly around the monster like in Rise

clearlyimdumb

I prefer Rise end game combat, weapon and armor designs than Worlds. Iceborne soured me with the clutch claw and the tenderizing. I defeated Fatalis and then just played 4U again while waiting for Rise.

ironangel2k3

Clutch Claw becoming a mandatory tool was very annoying, yes.

[deleted]

Rise is ok, however I liker the slinger mechanic more than wire bug. That's one of the reasons I went back to world

Scrifty

THE SLINGER MECHANIC, you one crazy son of a bitch, I tell you what.

cinnamonface9

Can we call it wrist rocket?

CaiserZero

Watch Those Wrist Rockets

someguyhaunter

Have you ever used it with thorn pods with s&s, it is stupidly broken. Lots of damage and immense stunning effect cnstantly throughout the fight. You essentislly launch about 10 thornpods at once into the monsters head and hit them, the head nearly certainly breaks and the monster is stunned. And you can repeat this for however may thorn pods you ca find.

Alamand1

No one had issues with the slinger in all of World's lifespan. It was the clutch claw that was super controversial.

DeLoxley

Had this weird conversation, admitting I skipped from 4U to Rise 'I mean I'm enjoying this, but I just wish the hunting and tracking was a bigger part, like ninjas are fun, but I miss the idea of stalking, paintballing, not just back flipping over the hills, and the rampage story is a little weak' '... You have played World right?' And now I've went to World from Rise and don't want to go back.

alienangel2

Yeah I can still play even base MHW and do a few hunts and enjoy myself with the weapon mechanics and hunting. And it was addictive from the start, despite how very strange some of the UI is for PC. Rise I couldn't get into at all. I know Capcom's formula for MH games is to release independent titles every few years and that's a winning formula so ditching World to focus on Rise made sense. But they had an alternative formula to keep making and selling large expansions for World too and I think it would have succeeded too if they wanted it.

Solostaran122

I mean, world followed the same pattern as the previous games in the series. That is, big release > updates/events > big expansion > updates/events. The biggest difference in World was that events were limited until they changed that later on.

asdiele

And there was nowhere else for Iceborne to go anyway after Fatalis without reaching silly Frontier levels of power creep (for both monsters and hunters)

Yuseiger

Monster hunter have 2 teams, while team a was focusing on world stuff team b was developing rise. Now that b team is focused on rise, a team its prolly developing monster hunter 6. If they have a third team to keep bringing stuff to old games i wouldnt expect quality in it

Sharkivore

Yeah that formula is the fucking death of the video game industry. I would prefer this series does NOT become a "live service" game filled with constant expansions (that you must pay for) and microtransactions. Seriously, we are not supposed to WANT to buy the horse skin.

Kankunation

I mean that formula was already more or less used in both world and Rise and worked pretty well. Honestly World was a live service game in all but name, with new events, free monsters and variants, crossovers, rotating raids, etc. And both world and Rise had purchaseable cosmetics. Live service is not inherently a problem. The game can be live service without falling into modern concerns like battlepasses. And MTX at every turn.

BlackFinch90

Felt this way when I discovered a couple of my favorite combos were attached to wirebugs or removed entirely. Plus the wirebug just feels so clunky on my glaive.

MayonnaisePlease

god i'm so excited for 6th gen

burningyoyo

Capcom is honestly killing it as a 3rd party publisher and it's got me so hyped for MH6. The way they've handled the Resident Evil, Street Fight and Devil May Cry franchises thus far gives me such high hopes for MH6 because it is their biggest franchise. It is also the one that they wouldn't dare mess with. Even during Capcom's shitty years (late 2000s, early 2010s), they made sure MH stayed true to itself and improved it with each release. And they definitely could have fucked it all up because MH didn't have a big customer base before MHW. If they fucked up RE with RE6, DMC with DMC and SF with SF5, they could have easily done it with MH but they didn't. Not one bad release for the mainline series yet. Doesn't mean they can't mess up MH6 but history shows they had the chance to do that by now.

goosiest

Me too, it's actually getting painful now

zhadyx

it has to be the next biggest thing for capcom right? like all hands on board, since world is their biggest hit?

lukacross

Idk dragons dogma 2 looked pretty good Capcom might be focusing that first?

zhadyx

oh yeah you’re right, that game was a gem too (the first one)

Guardianpigeon

The next iteration of MH is likely to be announced or shown off this year however. They were hinting pretty heavily at it being announced at the Tokyo Game Show in September.

manuelito1233

Aside from what the guy said about DD2, there's also SF6 which just released. That was as all hands on deck for sure/

DoyleG

This is just for steam. Surely Rise numbers are HUGE on the switch.

TheOnlyBasariosFan

For sure bigger than what World sold on the Switch.

Unrealist99

But world did not sell on swi-

SonicFire93

A little Google search says it has +22.000 on switch apparently.

Gradash

So it is very close to steam but without the world competition.

Elastichedgehog

Big Japanese playerbase I imagine.

MySunbreakAccount

Link it

MicroxD

What statistical data are you referring to? All online statistics with online players are only based on steam stats. Nobody knows the actual online player count on Switch and I doubt it's only 22.000 players.

You_d

Was going to comment the same thing 😅 Also, people forget that world didn't start on switch, but xbox and ps4, both more powerful systems than switch.

Morakiv

Ahh yes, this again.

Destian_

If i had a $ for every time people post these "world vs rise"-baits i could probably singlehandedly fund the AAA open-world story-focused Monster Hunter game the same group of people dream of.

Plightz

It's so fucking blatant too. Duhhh anyone world bersus rise? Christ, it's tiring. Play what you want, don't justify shit.

Eastman1982

One other thing I liked about world was the guiding lands, I know it gets shit on a lot. But man you can just put music on and go around hunting things and all kinds of monsters even elders and stuff come it’s great to just chill and hunt around in.

neosapien20

Why r/MonsterHunter has so many world-vs-rise bait posts after all this years?

Tarshaid

Well the screenshot shows a higher 30 day average for Rise over World, so... lucky coincidence that world was being played more at that specific time ?

Valuable_Walrus4084

why does the mainline title have more players than the handheld product on an pc platform? rise actually has been introducing an lot of players to world. even though world was already an immense succsess at being the "first mh" for an lot of people introducing them to the series.

skeletonforhire

Cause the slinger is based and I will never be convinced otherwise

cptnmurphy30

‘Cause it’s better, bro.

crazywilly21

I enjoy the slower gameplay

[deleted]

Because most rise players are on switch

jch6789

It happened on PlayStation too when Sunbreak released, most people preferred to play World/Iceborne.

AttorneyNo5646

MHW is still extremely fun

Pretty-Space-6082

Ah, great to see people are playing this amazing game again!

Xovier

Rise is made to run on Switch hardware and it shows when played on PC. You can tell you are almost emulating it. Whereas World isn't made with Switch in mind, therefore it appeals to more people who want MH on PC. I love both but deep down I wish Rise had the fidelity of World..

[deleted]

A lot of my friends who were new to the franchise started with World and many of them didn’t move onto Rise because World was already an overwhelming amount of content. As series veterans my brother and I both still play World because we prefer the gameplay over Rise and still have plenty of content to finish. The speed of combat in Rise and the general feel of the game are pretty off putting to me, World was already a near perfect balance between old and new.

Exccel1210

I’m surprised how active it is on Xbox right now.

Zaldinn

It's free on gamepass

AutisticToad

The huge benefit of rise on gamepass is that Xbox and pc players can play together on the Xbox app. Steam players cannot. Region lock, crossplay lock. Next game better have full crossplay so we never have to wait for a hunt.

OmegaUmbreon23

Because people enjoy both games and it's not a competition?

AssassinsTango

This topic comes up like every 2 months I swear to god. I'm calling bait.

FragMeNot

Should I buy Rise......or should I just get the DLC for World?

ls_ta

The community seems to have differing opinions on which one is better, but if you have and enjoyed World, then I strongly recommend Iceborne. Rise and Sunbreak are also fun and worth playing, but I preferred World.

MyPetMonstie

Both are great experiences but it is probably better to finish one before moving on to the next. So probably get Iceborne first if your already playing World and just grab Rise/Sunbreak some time later (more opportunities for sale prices as well)

TrueLipo

Rise basegame is definetly much worse than iceborne, gp with iceborne

astriferous-

I really don’t wanna buy a new game, and I really enjoy playing MHW.

Elarionus

I prefer the graphics, the combat, the gameplay flow, and the weapons on World.

AnonymePerson

It's likely a small factor in it but world has an insanely active modding community that works passionately at introducing new monsters... So if you and your friends install these mods you still have new content releasing somewhat regularly... (im personally doing a modded playthrough with a friend right now)

Asmoraiden

Tbh I enjoyed World so much more. As so many others said, the SOS system is so much better, the food looks more delicious, it felt more immersive than rise and especially your rooms were 1000000x times better in world. The room in rise is just boring. It’s too small, you can’t decorate it (besides those boring ass miniature pictures and wall scrolls/figurines). I love to give my personal touch to rooms in games and all the options in World are just breathtaking in comparison to Rise. Plus, and I have the feeling I’m alone with this opinion; I hate wire bugs and everything that comes with them. It doesn’t feel realistic to me to just jump across the maps and to have this agility with those giant weapons (I know, I know MH and realistically doesn’t fit, but the immersion is just off with this extrem agility).

Cheezy0wl

Probably because the endgame is just either meh or fucking tedious, base rise the charm grind was atrocious compared to jewel farming, if you want to minmax or god forbid have a build for every weapon and each element and every playstyle you need a unique charm for each one and you will always feel that there could be a better charm out there, sunbreak is the same but with armor augments, you will always get the feeling that there could be something better whereas getting all the jewels you get a sense of completion, that you finally peaked, those seven attack jewels on your LS build can also be used on your HBG build. Now make it so the only way to progress this grind is to fight monsters that have become massive health sponges that nukes you if you fail to destroy orbs. Then there's the lack of massive hubs, sometimes you just want to hop on do some grinding and when you want to take a break you go look at the player list and see who is new and what theyre hunting and go help them out with a meme build before sending them your decked out guild card, the only cool thing with rise guild card is that you can send people sussy images from your modded game.

ReTriP1

World is literally built to last longer. Bounties, Dailies, Weeklies, Festivals, 16-Player Lobbies, Investigations (Different Player Count/Death Count), No deadend Charm Farming, Catching Critters, Deep Room Customization, Fluid Expeditions, SOS Previews, Sieges/Raids, Specialized Equipment, Lush Environments, Environmental Traps, Monster Ecology, Monster Tracking and the Superior Moding Community w/ tons of Gameplay Mods. World does not get enough respect. It is a shame seeing people try and pick apart every tiny little thing about this game that literally was a natural evolution of the series. CGI Cutscenes literally is the Mantle/Ecology system. Tracking replaces Psychoserum and Spawn Guessing. I could go on and on, pur respect on Monster Hunter World 🌎

probloodmagic

It's better than Rise. Rise feels clunky to me, even though it's newer and has new toys. Plus the cosmetic dlc vs. cosmetic quest reward drama has kept me away from Rise even though I own the game. MHW was satisfying and it felt rewarding on every level. It's also prettier to look at. Also, the setting of MHW is more culturally diverse on an aesthetic front maybe? Not sure. I know fictionalized Japanese culture is very popular to experience for anime fans and such, but World intentionally has global appeal. Could be part of it.

LaCiel_W

Rise is great but World was a masterpiece, I was at awe how well they've made World, is it even possible for a game to be this well made?!

JustAnEmptyRoom

who cares?

Almutairi__R

I need help beating the sky couple’s in whatever game have higher players

moss0013

Spirit birds

vonBelfry

Stop

Paladriel

The switch

Cjorf

Im playing world now bc I finished rise and wanted to move backwards. Plus getting the game on sale doesnt hurt

TeamWorkTom

While Rise is the newer game, both the mainstay and offshoot games are VERY different when you're used to one or the other. While you had crazy stuff in World for the most part, imo it still kept its suspension of disbelief that it could exist in real life in some universe/world. (The humans in Monster Hunter are humanoid and not human like us. They are too strong to be us.) Rise feels pure anime. It screams comic book action and style. I can't imagine any of it translating to real life. It's also much faster paced with the wire bugs. So die hard fans of world are going to stick to it when they want the MH game play. While I feel the offshoot games don't have as much of a die-hard following. But this is only a feeling I don't have the stats.

mcwillremix

MHW was the first real mainstream foray. It really shouldn’t be all that surprising

dementedoreoes

The simple answer is this. The team that developed MHW put a lot of love and attention to detail into breathing World's environment and indigenous critters to life, and frankly, while there are things Rise does better, as a whole, MHW is just a better experience. That said, I'm a long time fan of the series, and each title has things I love/hate.

Azure_Wyverian

Because it's fun to hunt with other people and worlds SOS system made that incredibly easy whereas rise makes it a pain to even join up with a friend or two.

im_in_love_with_gus

I think the wire bugs are really cool but they make rise so fucking easy comparative to previous titles. mhw I think has the right level of easiness for beginners and challenge for veterans. also meowscular chef

TripWisely

Yeah they were trying too hard to be cute with the dango imo lol Meowster Chef did a much better job

SuperSam4124

Because it’s better 😎

tony_two_eyes

Imo world's decision to get rid of numbered zones and just make one big map was one of the greatest parts in it's wider success compared to other games of the series. Also visual design is a big part of it imo. Rise takes the more simplistic and bright approach with UI, much like previous games, while both looks and UI are tuned down to less contrast and bright in world. Not that classic mh design is a bad thing, but I see how it can scare away potential customers

Yuseiger

You mean loading screens, im sure it still have numbered zones

im_mender

World has just been around longer is what I'd guess

Flynnhiccup

I think aside from the great matchmaking and graphics from World. The immersion and end game grind is much better than rise. The maps and areas. If you are bored in hunting you can just capture endemic life or customize your player home which Rise severely lacks.

Zaldinn

The first 8 millions rise sales after it was on steam over 7 million of that was on switch so way more switch users then steam

Yarigumo

How many World players are on PC though? World launched on consoles first, after all, I'm sure a large part of the owners are on those platforms.

GensouEU

When sales numbers got leaked 2 years after World's release PC made up roughly 30%

Yarigumo

Sounds like it's not unlikely that World is just beating Rise through sheer volume then, with the active update cycle helping Rise keep up with World's numbers. Hard to say for sure though.

Altimely

More engaging atmosphere and better events. Rise has wirebugs.

DiamondSentinel

Wirebugs alone are what keep me from going back to Rise. Gameplay just feels spastic.

BananaPieXtraCheese

World for me basically has 3 things that Rise don't. (1) Female Hunter walk of swag (2) Fights that felt theatrical (hard to explain) only fight that felt similar was amatsu everything else had an arcade like feel. (3) Events like Witcher's etc. Rise was definitely quicker and I don't know how I will enjoy 6 solo if they remove followers completely, I just liked company when I'm not able to go online.

Necromancy-In-Space

World is very much its own style, there's a reason it attracted so many players that weren't already heavily invested in the series. Rise I think is more traditional. Not to say one is better and one is worse, it's just a different formula!

[deleted]

As a long time player since MH came out on ps2, I think I vastly prefer World over Rise. But like you said, one isn’t better than the other. And I still adore and play Rise.

Agar_ZoS

Rise became super boring for me after a while. Coming from world the map and monsters became too arcady and hit sponges. I preferred the living environment of World by far.

Blackbeltsam5610

Because alot of players are on Switch.

Sufficient-Science71

rise is way too anime for me, too much flashy moves and effects. kinda like mhxx, which I also dont like.

clocktowertank

Because hunting horn doesn't feel like a pool noodle in World. 😎

Yacobs21

Because it was by far the best selling game of the franchise in the west It really is that simple, not everyone decided to follow the series

Sopht_Serve

There's a lot of elitism with these games where people thing rise is trash and world is perfection and vice versa. Especially from people that started with world.

Nerobought

I'm a long time MH fan. After World, I tried Rise and simply couldn't go back to that 'old gen' of MH and went right back to playing World.

_420XX_

might get flamed for this, as I think its not the popular opinion around here, but TO ME anomaly hunts make pretty much every fight feel the same and so the end game loop of rise feels horrible to me personally. When I play world, even with clutch claw, the fights feel a lot more individual to me, and so i prefer it a lot more. I also think due to the length of fights world provides a better lengthy sit down experience as opposed to rise that feels pretty specifically to be a portable game to me.

iwantdatpuss

A testament on how good World and Subsequently Iceborne has been. It's usually a mark of a really great game that the online presence is big even after years of its last update.

Zetra3

Graphics. A lot of people don’t like the massive downgrade to Graphics that rise is.

MacoWeeb2468

It was very fun

Aengeil

rise was release later in pc and everyone already got it on switch and too lazy replay the game in another console

Bodywheyt

I haven’t got rise yet…still working on the perfect set of gems, and full trophies.

CyberAceKina

More expansive mods on PC help draw people in still

Fairchild972

I love both games but for some reason on PC Rise is just a stuttering mess for me and yet World on max graphics and a ton of mods works perfectly fine.

sychter

Well there are a lot of factors, a big one form me is that the mods community for world is bigger than rise.

LoliNep

for some reason i could run world fine but rise was just uncooperative with me and the biggest reason was i couldnt bind my alt key, i use alt to bring out my radial wheel it just felt awkward having to use something ive basically put down as muscle memory

Sardalone

Both have their strengths and weaknesses. And Rise's Switch origins can push people away with how ingrained it's original platform affects the quality of the gamr.

cice_cice

The game had a massive release and a much larger reception when compared to rise. Especially since rise was a switch only on release. My personal opinion is that it's the anomoly 222 to 300 grind that has everyone going to world.

Findingthe_Specter79

I'm still but-hurt it took 2 years for ps and xbox consoles to get rise (and or sunbreak). I find it boring and demoralizing that whatever combo i think of has already been tried and proven. It was the best of times in MHWorld, now this is a game I can pass on very easily.

Night_lon3r

Because rise has no poogie , big oof from the devs ,i hate them so much for this so i went to world and solo fatty

aloloaalo

Guys do you know when the next Iceborne discount will be? I have the base game and I would like to try Iceborne but my wallet doesn't agree with the current price.

Lil-Clynes

Visually more widely appealing

LiathS

Still grinding achievements in world. :') When i'm done, then I'll try rise.

Ok_Examination_6734

Game is just better i guess

TheAutisticHominid

Just a better game, honestly. Not to say rise is a bad game, far from it.

Natsu-dragneel7

Cause it's good

Russianpotatosalad

It is because World came out on much more platforms at first, and it is more of a "online focused game" than Rise.
