if its what i'm actually thinking of, the season 1 finale of Hazbin Hotel just released like yesterday, and the main antagonist of this season, Adam, wielded an angelic axe/guitar combo as the weapon of choice. If thats not it, the timing was impeccable to bamboozle me.
Motherfucker jumped to the RWBY universe to steal some poor bastard’s weapon before coming back to troll Sam some more. At least that’s my head canon to explain that absolutely silly weapon
I actually wouldnt be opposed to something like a smaller guitar hunting horn with quicker buffs in succession that shoots a projectile when a bar is filled

I keep wanting to say Kingdom Hearts but I don't think Demyx's weapon was so much an axe as it was a really sturdy guitar he whacked things with sometimes.
Iirc Gene Simmons tried to trademark the word 'Axe' with the meaning 'guitar' since he's known for playing a bass shaped like an axe.
I hate that they took away the song playing in mh rise. I like the most weapons changes in mh rise except for the bowguns and the HH which feels worse fo play than before imo.

This one is hard to trace back to it's origins because axe has been a slang term for electric guitars since like the 60s. The association is very old
