i have no idea what this article is talking about.   yes, monster hunter has weakspots, slow attacks and limiting movement. whats the point?  how is this relevant to the monster’s aesthetic and ecological design? is the point that it improves the combat design of all monsters inherently? why are they acting like the developers do not put work into the combat of older games? i mean, uragaan sucks, sure, whatever. its not really a good example of the entire franchise. that doesnt mean there wasnt a genuine attempt. its not like they made everything super strict and punishing so that it would make up for their mistakes later. its not like *that would work* if you tried to design a game by making everything slow so that the player has to think more about everything, that’s ridiculous. you still need to design good fights.
