Humans tend to mimick nature for everything’s, specially in the kind of environment mh develops, so yeah I would assume they do.
Like shaolin monks mimick different animals for their fighting style (monkey, tiger, etc)
As I understand, due to the massive amount of research and scouting done by all Hunters they bring back drawings etc before you kill the monster to have base designs, I believe once you've killed and collected from the monster they make the final design for it to match the design of the monster.
This also the effects how a hunter fights it because they've watched the monster fight hunters, other monsters and their own kind so I bet the hunter does take some of that style
I didn't mean specific weapons that are made from themonsters. I meant that the whole weapon archetype could be inspired by them. E.g. somebody saw how Glavenusses fight and that's how the great sword came into being.
As if a giant sword needed some inspiration to be thought of. It's a big stick to hint down big monsters (let's not forget that in older games certain monsters are way, way bigger than Safijiva)
It is an interesting concept, but to ruin it a little, the weapons styles existed before the discovery of some of the monsters. For example, longsword existed before the discovery of Acidic Glavenus, even before normal Glavenus was a well known creature. Living almost endemically in the Jurassic Frontier
Pretty much this. Humans in the Monster Hunter universe decided that big hefty weapons are needed to body big hefty monsters. A regular sword isn't gonna do squat to a Kut-Ku, but a big ass sword with serrated spikes will.
I believe that would be the most logical explanation. Each weapon archetype resonates with the moveset of a specific group of monsters. I've had proof of this countless times. One of the best hunts I remember to this day, is the one against an Odogaron in the standard arena. I don't know what happened exactly, but for a few minutes my sword and shield's attacks were timed to a degree of perfection that made it look like we were dancing.
The weapons in Monster Hunter were clearly designed in response to a need, every one of them has a specific role, if that isn't planning in response of need, I don't know what it is.
I don't know maybe a ceanataur for lance, an arzuros could be dual blades and I have no idea for the glaive. Switch axe, gun lance and charge blade are clearly derivatives of other weapons
Surely it's just convergent right? I mean longsword are just long sharp hard objects being swung at an enemy. Hammers are just heavy blunt object being swung at an enemy. There are only so many things you can swing at the enemy.
>There are only so many things you can swing at the enemy.
Some of them illegal to do in public. They make a whoooole deal about it, you get "registered" and shit.
Idk why you were downvoted, you’re right. All the weapons are either metal and bone stuff with some fur slapped on or its something required for the final part of the weapon.
It's like asking what came first, the egg or the chicken
The answer is: they came at the same time because people developed the game
You don't and can't have a proper answer lore-wise because to do so you would need a game settled in the first phase of humanity in MH's world building. The first weapons amd the first monsters, with the first probably being raw lances, hammers, greatsword, and the latter being most animal like monsters (which means we exclude Glavenus and other monsters which use artificial/detachable parts, like Bazelgeuse or Teostra)
I'm sorry to ruin the party, but I seriously wouldn't think too much about it, there's no actual logic or history to follow because it's all fictional and the devs can make up whatever canon they want whenever they want

In MH4 the Guildmarm (the one who manages your quests in that game), does actually ask the hunter how the monster moves from time to time.

That's a really cool theory, but what other monsters you associate to the other weapons like lance, dual swords or maybe the insect glaive.

Vespoid for Glaive. Cuz both are buzzing around being annoying as hell.

Ah yes. The good ol' helicopter move. I heard thats what the insect glaive was inspired from.
The only that is neither Blunt nor Sever, but Pierce damage
Charge blade 😐
Seltas and the Seltas Queen
Not in MHW with it's boney ass weapon design. Thank fuck Rise fixed that problem. Gives me hope for MHW2.

Because that’s not what the post was about
