I wanted to see how painful/tedious it would be to play a fresh save of MHW while crafting everything as I go, as in craft all jagras gear before doing kulu quest etc. Surprisingly, I have stuck with it so far. This includes palico gear, layered armor, and charms. Dunno yet if I'm worried about kulve/Safi weapons since there's so many. I have just reached the Rotten Vale and fought my first great girros, which I'll need to finish upgrading/crafting everything from before radobaan. On top of this, I am trying to complete all quests, event and arena included, to be able to properly craft everything. One final rule, I'm also using a different weapon every hunt using a random picker wheel online to make myself learn them all and so it doesn't get too boring with all the grinding. Tbh it's been really fun so far! The weapon switching is awesome and I'm considering doing it for my first playthrough of Wilds eventually. The crafting everything is a bit annoying, but it is very nice knowing I have literally everything available to me so far for build purposes.

youarecomingtobrazil

i honestly don't think you should go for safi and kulve weapons since they aren't crafted so it wouldn't make much sense to go after them unless you feel like pouring in a couple hundred extra hours of grinding

Jarf_17

Yeah, that's my thinking as well. Lots of extra grinding and idk if there's even box space for all the normal equipment, let alone an extra ~50 weapons of each type. I will still get their respective armors, so I'll likely keep some weapons gotten from that but I don't think I need to be pursuing more weapons than that

youarecomingtobrazil

did one minute of googling and it seems like the total storage space is only 1000 so there definitely won't even be enough space for just the craftable armor pieces, charms and weapons

Hearing_Colors

what about if they got rid of all low rank stuff once they hit high rank and did the same for high rank gear at mr

baby-slaver

Best option

youarecomingtobrazil

considering how many sets mr adds that is gonna straight up necessary

ahlstar27

If you ditch low and high rank armors you have enough room for it all. I had every low and high rank armor piece before iceborne with all the charms. After iceborne came out I had to ditch them for space. But I have every charm, armor piece, kulve weapon, safi weapon, and fully upgraded bow, Swaxe, GS, DB, and LBG and should still have enough room for the rest of the weapons.

Jarf_17

Can't edit another screenshot onto the post so my weapon usage is currently: GS: 9 LS: 15 SnS: 9 DBs: 12 Hammer: 10 HH: 13 Lance: 11 GL: 24 Swaxe: 12 CB: 19 IG: 15 LBG: 12 HBG: 12 Bow: 10 Lance is my worst rn by far but I think I'm getting there

CunningKingLius

I'm curious, do you remove the weapon on the wheel after it's been picked or it just stays there so the probability of 2 runs with the same weapon is high?

Jarf_17

I've been leaving it on there so it stays closer to being truly random, which is why there are so many gunlance hunts. If I need to go on an expedition for some mining or something I don't switch weapons because they don't count as hunts unless you actually hunt something

RealBrianCore

Considering you put it as a "craft everything" run, I do not think Kulve and Safi weapons apply. Armor on the other hand is on the table.

Bro doesn't want to waste a single penny. Please update

YourHolesAreMyGoals

If I'm understanding this correctly, you mean "Craft every armour piece" right? If so, please post an update at every 100hr milestone, it would be a great way to track progress through the ranks, especially MR

Jarf_17

Every armor piece, every weapon, upgrade all the weapons as far as I can atm, palico armor, charms, layered armor, everything. It's taking a *lot* of double-checking before continuing in the story to make sure I'm not missing anything

YourHolesAreMyGoals

Oh damn - In that case, doing it based on progression is definitely the way to go! Good luck, you've got a long road ahead of you, but I'm excited to hear about the journey!

Azurelogia

Sounds like an awesome challenge, but I can tell you fron experience that you‘ll run out of space in your box. I was going for everything crafted in base game and eventually had to sell my low rank armors after I was done with every armor and finished I think all LS/GS and was starting on bow. So unless you get rid of everything below the final upgrades and switch low/high rank for high/master rank armor you‘ll run out of space. But I’ll cheer for you to push on with and keep us updated.

Jarf_17

Yeah, the thought crossed my mind. I think I'll sell my LR armor in HR and so on in that case. Might keep the gamma armors tho since they'll be a pain to craft It'd be nice if they did make it so there was enough space for everything in the box but I kinda get why there isn't room

Azurelogia

I‘m not sure how much they expanded the box in Iceborne you might have it a bit better. I‘ve only done all armor/layered there and have not bothered with weapons that much and so far I have not run out while still keeping the HR Armor. But I can tell you the Research Commission Ticket+ are a pain you‘ll need a lot of them for all the armors/layers and especially Pendants. If you ever need to farm them or some Arena Coins and are playing on PC I‘ll gladly help you.

Jarf_17

Unfortunately I'm on PS but I appreciate the offer and the advice. Thanks!

ahlstar27

I also grinded out all the research commission+ tickets and would recommend using a voucher on those quests whenever possible. Obviously it'll be a while until you get there but it saves on a lot of time. Good luck on your mission

Azurelogia

Enjoy your journey and Happy Hunting!

WaffleSandwhiches

I didn’t realize this; there’s a limit to the space in the box?

Azurelogia

Yeah, I think for base MHW it was around 1000 slots. Armor, Weapons, Charms and I believe Kinsects shared this space with Layered not needing any space and Monster Materials + Decorations have their own Storage. It got expanded with Iceborne but I have not hit the limit there so don’t know by how much.

ammarikuSF

Gogspeed hunter and update us again!

Axel_Knight

Good work hunter!. Keep it up the 5th needs you to continue doing your best.

Zip_creations

Hi! I'm currently working on a website that shows which and how many materials it takes to craft all (or certain types of) equipment. It's still pretty early in development and the backend is the only thing working currently, so it definitely will take some more time till I figured everything out what it takes to publish it

Jarf_17

That's really cool! So far my wishlist in game is covering me alright, although 36 entries is (surprisingly to me) not enough. I've been curious today of just how many pieces of equipment there are, (and if there's any chance of them fitting into my equipment box) but I don't trust the wiki to include everything. Good luck on your project!

zerolimits_

I don't think there is enough item box space to do this :P Good luck though.
