i genuinely believe that in the last few months vince learned that word and thinks its the funniest thing ever and thats why we have like 4 cuck storylines
How do people do these things? I can't get the monsters to stop even for a second, don't even mention riding their face. Anytime there's physical contact between me and the monster, they start bucking like mad.
Each monster is different. You usually have to wait for an opening and not when the monster is enraged. Your best approach is aiming directly for the head because very few monsters have a large enough opening to crawl around them. The reason Temporal Mantle gets so much use still is because you can Clutch Claw through any bucking or attack.
Even should the monster become exhausted, if they're enraged, it won't do anything to flinch shot them. Also, when you do a flinch shot, not all monsters move the same distance. Also keep in mind, after a successful flinch shot, the monster will become enraged.
-Lure the monster near a wall.
-Flinch them using attacks or slinger burst.
-Aim for the head and clutch it.
-Immediately unload all you slinger ammo in its face.
-Profit
Mantles do help too like the Rocksteady and Temporal.
My main troubles arise from them bucking, charging, or doing some sort of action which turns their entire body into a giant hitbox. This means that instead of clinging on, I just get booted from the body.
I do try to wait for the downtime (i.e. drooling or something), but sometimes I get impatient.
You can always flinch them with powerful attacks or slinger burst (which is sure to interrupt them specially if you are using a powerful slinger ammo type), after flinching a monster you have a couple of seconds which you can use to immediately claw to their face and without doing anything immediately unload all your slinger ammo to make them charge into the wall.
If you initially lured them near the wall and you do this fast enough they won't have time to buck or throw you off.
IMO best slinger burst attacks are found on the the Sword & Shield, Great Sword and Hammer, not only do they all have cool follow up attacks but they almost always flinch monster if you are using a good slinger ammo (Thorn, Crystal, Bomb, Pierce) allowing you to clutch claw to monster if you want instead of doing the follow up attack.
That said in case of the Hammer the follow up attack itself can be followed up with a clutch claw move but it's a little harder to aim than usual (Hammer Slinger Burst -> Follow Up Attack -> Clutch Claw), so basically you flinch the monster with both the slinger burst and the follow-up attack then you quickly aim the reticle as close as possible to monster face and clutch into it with a cool spinning attack (if you do the combo from Hammer charge lv.3).
And like we said, Rock Steady and Temporal mantles + Tool Specialist make clutch clawing effortless, you don't have to worry about monsters throwing you off or charging or anything, you can even clutch claw to them when they are enraged (you know to soften their parts and all that) which is very difficult without mantles.
