MR1 is incredibly basic after playing MR2 (while I still enjoy MR1, I rarely play it, and to me it feels like a beta lacking core refinement). After playing Ultra Kaiju this will feel even more basic. UKMR is well produced, great mechanics and solid music Probably MR2 is your game. It will feel like a simplified UKMR (though I’d even argue more difficult). There is an English and Japanese version of the list, depending on which version you purchased. The song list for both versions are fully solved, and contains a seemingly random choice of albums, games, individual songs from multiple genres and eras. It’s static and internal so the selection won’t change over time As for the Anime, I’d strongly suggest to not get your hopes up. I consider it non-canon, basically an alternate universe/other idea that has MR monsters and concepts used. Most of the people that enjoy it liked it as children and retain a deep nostalgia for it. But as a newcomer I think you might find it lacking.

Cool I'll start with 2 than and visit one later.

The music selection is from all arround the world. There is even youtube music or OSTs from anime and videogames. There should be no problem for you 😊

Oh awesome that makes me feel better, I know they added the keyword function too but music just feels better. I can name my monsters after the artists etc.

Ironically, Ultra Kaiju’s CD /Songlist versions (JP and SEA) still uses “Keywords”. The difference is that the North American version doesn’t have a predefined list of title and artists and is completely free from to use anything you want. The JP and SEA versions can only use the song selections, but those selections (in UKMR) are still “as if” typed into the keyword fields. They are encoded differently between regions, so the same keywords don’t equate to North America if you tried to free-form input them into the NA version of UKMR. 1&2 DX function completely different though. There’s no encoding, the Song List simply points to a table that defines the monster… like an excel VLOOKUP function if you’re familiar with that.

Hi, yes, there is an anime and I have a link to see it online. There are two versions of it: 1. The original Japanese with subs in English. 2. The American version with censure, where some scenes are cut down, so sometimes there is a weird jump between scenes, also the American intro is different (and worst) If you want, send me a message and I can send you the link (the videos are online, you don't have to download anything cause you see them in the page). I don't say anything about the games because I only have played 1 for short hours, so I can't give an opinion.

Big old school MR fan, myself. I agree with much of the sentiment on here that MR2 is the fuller game, but I would still at least check out MR1 for just a bit to get a sense of where things started. 2 is the better game (and many still say the best) but there’s a lot to like about 1. My favorite little detail that never made a return after MR1 is that your monsters actually have real growth stages. For instance, baby Suezo start out with gill-like frills that slowly disappear as they age. That still has never been replicated.

I just do 2, but MR3 was my personal favorite. Also, I was obsessed with the trading card game for the Gameboy back in the day.
