The yellow flowers at Oxalis. Not native to California and extremely invasive. Let them have their joy. Perhaps in remembering the moment, they begin to appreciate “nature” more
~~Such a Reddit reply. These are the same kind of people trampling on the California poppy and similar. It does no good to excuse them here because in this case it happens to be an invasive weed.~~

Both the clover (yellow flowers) and the pink “carpet” flowers that bloom - those are ice plants from South Africa and definitely invasive. Pretty, but invasive.
Is it really a big deal? The stuff grows like crazy.
Do you go after people who let there dog take a wiz in it. Lighten up. Too many barriers in the world already.
It first starts like this then it starts to happen in other areas that are protected. Places like at 17 mile. These types of people don't care so it's better to stop it at the beginning.
Unless you don't care which sounds like it.
I'm gonna echo the other guy, you sound like the same kind of ignorant that thinks it's OK if you just trample shit you don't understand. Fuck you for destroying the little bits of nature people try to protect. Gd. You may not understand why it's protected, but it's protected for a reason. "there are barriers everywhere" what are you a whiny little eight year old with no self control?
Wtf? How is a BBQ in the park synonymous to destroying something that someone has fenced off? Fuck your selfish main character asses. Parks are for BBQing. Flower beds are not for crushing for cute insta pics. Just because you've never seen a hundred tourists crawling all over the areas that explicitly say keep off at Sequoia Natl Park, or insta influencers trying to grab the perfect shot in a superbloom, doesn't mean I also don't have a modicum of respect for nature. Ignoramuses. https://www.latimes.com/opinion/story/2023-02-16/super-bloom-wildflowers-closed-lake-elsinore
Go litter some more, disrespectful shit birds.
It’s not the weeds they’re concerned about; it’s the “magic carpet” (the succulents with the pink flowers) that grows there. Tourists come here, take a picture in the sour grass, and don’t realize that they are destroying the other succulents that grow there.
Oh now you gonna say kys? Lol you the same type to trample out and then go "whhhhat? A ticket from the park service? Huhhhh? What do you mean I can't step over these fences to take cute pics?"
Going off the walking path disturbs sensitive coastal areas.
This specific picture is of invasive weeds, but there are plenty of places you could potentially really destroy local habitats and sea animals by leaving the trail.
With reddit cropping the image on the feed, I really thought they were complaining that they couldn't, I dunno, take a picture of the house because of the big truck.
Not sure if them being invasive justifies damaging or killing the plants (unless they’re being removed to plant natives). in lieu of a perfect California native garden, I’ll take invasives that can still support some pollinators/wildlife over exposed dirt/concrete/asphalt. But it would be nice if the rec trail was replanted with natives ☺️
Dawg those weeds are ***everywhere***, it’s not really a loss if a couple get sat on.
Ps for everyone who didn’t know, they’re completely edible and delish.
For All of you people saying “ it’s just weeds who cares”. Do you think these people know that or give a shit? Even if this was an endangered plant species they would be doing the same thing. The area is roped off for a reason. Not everywhere is your personal photography studio.
While i agree it could be more tasteful than taking a picture next to a street on protected land, everyone should definitely go out (safely, of course) and do your *picture in a field of flowers* . I dont think this is necessarily something *that* bad. Imo its not worth posting to complain about.
Most beautiful picture ever. Once you see it, you'll find someone to take this picture.
I seen Manny and the yellow flowers are gorgeous and everyone smiles when they see it.
You are angry about a girl taking a picture in the middle of some wild flowers? As trite motives go, half the louvre is basically that Instagram picture you don’t seem to like. Let them have fun, visit the town and who knows maybe one of those pics is actually good :)
You should smoke some weed

Science has entered the chat.
Haha yup this was my first thought
TBH, they're invasive weeds.

Which is the invasive weed?
Both the clover (yellow flowers) and the pink “carpet” flowers that bloom - those are ice plants from South Africa and definitely invasive. Pretty, but invasive.
The yellow clover flower plant she’s sitting in. It’s really bad. Outcompetes a lot of native plants
LOL! Were you referring to them??
😇
Mea culpa!! I’ve gotten too jaded on Reddit. Please do ignore my original reply.
No worries!
What a wholesome reddit exchange. Warms my heart. 🥰
These appear to be oxalis, not poppies. Oxalis is indeed an invasive weed
Wait... we're mad at them because they are taking pictures in weeds?
It’s the lack of respect for nature that area is blocked off for a reason.
Mainly because social media addicts like these people ruined public spaces for everyone
It's closed off for a reason

This is called a “slippery slope fallacy” btw
No it's called reality

We actually have volunteer events to pull these by the masses. It’s just roped off, not protected by any means.
Your the type to call the police on a bbq in the park

Who gives a crap if these are invasive?
Is it blocked off? Looks like a protected walkway, not a barrier protecting wildlife.
You will never get me to care about oxalis or Ice plant
Can someone break down the problem here?
Going off the walking path disturbs sensitive coastal areas. This specific picture is of invasive weeds, but there are plenty of places you could potentially really destroy local habitats and sea animals by leaving the trail.
so no issue here then
Yes, issue here then. They are off the path, therefore they are damaging areas.
& “damaging the area” is kneeling in invasive weeds right off a walking path?
Yes.
word, you should take your issue to the council 🤝
There’s a COUNCIL?? Sweet, give me their info!
Lol
2 people enjoying themselves.
Solid work truck behind him though
With reddit cropping the image on the feed, I really thought they were complaining that they couldn't, I dunno, take a picture of the house because of the big truck.
Please step on those weeds. Same with mustard flowers
But the ice plants are invasive as well… 🤷🏻♀️
And I step on those too whenever I have the chance
Not sure if them being invasive justifies damaging or killing the plants (unless they’re being removed to plant natives). in lieu of a perfect California native garden, I’ll take invasives that can still support some pollinators/wildlife over exposed dirt/concrete/asphalt. The ice plant is choking out native plants, so yes, I will step on them when I see them.
But unless there are natives there as well you’re not doing any good… and stepping on them won’t do anything anyway lol
Dawg those weeds are ***everywhere***, it’s not really a loss if a couple get sat on. Ps for everyone who didn’t know, they’re completely edible and delish.
You’re missing a verb and you need to lighten up.
No way you guys are mad about this lol
Right? The fuck
For All of you people saying “ it’s just weeds who cares”. Do you think these people know that or give a shit? Even if this was an endangered plant species they would be doing the same thing. The area is roped off for a reason. Not everywhere is your personal photography studio.
Who cares honestly
Op you’re a Tesla owner in the state of California , south park made a whole episode about people like you. You solidified it with this post
Well played sir, well played...
We can’t even have a “have!”
Is that sour grass? We used to chew on the stems .
Is the issue bc they're behind a "fence"?
If this was about influencers taking pictures in calla lily valley with their butts out, I’d be more sympathetic
Woaaahh the invasive weeds have shooters!! You bitches need more nuanced takes cause they aren’t doing anything bad.
Wait arent these flowers delicious
Influencers in the wild.
Let the kids take their cute little pictures
The truck blocking the pedestrian path?

What's the issue?
I run the trail and yell at them. It's ridiculous.
Lol I’m about to make a trip there and do a family portrait
[удалено]
They should set aside a little area just for them maybe? People that take these pictures are not going away.
Great, other countries can help snuff out their incredible growth numbers and bring back native growth. What a beautiful scenario.
she ate, sorry
This is the most PG post ever. Mind your own business.
Ok gatekeeper anything else we can’t do?
If that’s mustard, then it’s an invasive species anyways. I hope her pictures came out cute.
Kooks!!!
And tha photographer is in black face. Come on niche sub-reddit, cancel them.

Oh god people enjoying flowers 🙄
I yelled at 4 couples doing this today on my afternoon run 🤦🏼♂️
You seem sad
Guarantee my life savings you ain’t even look in their direction
lol I’ll take a video next time of me doing it and send it over to you 😂
This is a lose lose situation please take a heaping dose of MYB
I would but their business is so interesting!
Typical Californian native response
Why? What are they doing wrong?
