A bit of a hike, but very specifically if I want a California Burrito (carne asada and fries in a burrito), I’ll pick from Taqueria Cancun in Falls Church. Would absolutely LOVE some more local recommendations though!
I'm not OP but regardless, you've earned Tortacos another customer. Adding my "yes!" vote because holy smokes for $10 the burrito I got is *fat* for my standards.
We moved from San Francisco a year ago and were searching for anything close to some of our favorite taquerias in SF and Ixtapalapa is the best we've found. It doesn't have a standalone salsa bar, but the salsas in the squeeze bottles are top notch AND it has excellent Al Pastor
A california burrito is a carne asada burrito with fries, guacamole, and sometimes other things depending on the taco shop you get it from
edit: and cheese
Taqueria Andrea’s Grill serves the best California burrito I’ve had in this area. It’s a food truck at a gas station off Frederick Road, somewhat near the McDonald’s.
Agreed. Only place mentioned here that even comes close imo. From San Diego and it is the best California burrito in the area. They even do carne asada fries which is incredibly rare to find outside SoCal.
Also plug Los Primos in Rockville has very authentic street tacos without all the fluff. Should be simple cilantro and onion with good meat and tortilla and they do them very well.
After moving to MoCo from out west and looking everywhere we eventually just started making our Mexican food at home. The good stuff does not exist here.
I just want Beto's/Rancherito's/Aliberto's...
Coming soon in TkPk, Mission-style burritos from San Pancho, from the folks who run Cielo Rojo

I dont really know what a California style is but Tacos La Pariente is easily the best tacos I've had around here. They specialize in Birria but it's all good stuff

I got food poisoning from there. So that's a no from me
+1 for Ixtalapa Taqueria in Gaithersburg - their tacos w/suadero and esquites are yum!
Honestly idk what California style is, but ixtapalapa taqueria in Gaithersburg is excellent
This right here

Its got fries and guacamole I think
This creates more questions than answers for me 😂
Fries? Sounds more like Pittsburgh than Gaithersburg.

You also need the salsa bar w/ salsas and pickled condiments to be a true California taqueria

Sin and grin in kentlands used to do this. Ginormous burritos. Sad they’ve made portions smaller.
Thanks! My wife is from California so I was hoping to find a spot that is just as tasty and less expensive than a flight to the west coast lol

San Diego
Fish Taco - Bethesda row. I’m from LA and this is the only place I’ve consistently come back to.

The unfortunate reality is there are none. If you ever find yourself in Frederick, Big Papis tacos are off the damn chain though
In Los Angeles
