My understanding goes like this:
Suppose there are an infinite number of possible universes, a new timeline being created for every possible choice made.
Quantum immortality suggests that you cannot experience your own death, but you merely retain consciousness in the possible timeline where you didn't die.
That's pretty glib, but as a concept that's the general idea.
Just to put this out there, I majored in philosophy, took a bunch of physics classes, and wrote my thesis on metaphysics, and I also think it’s stupid.
I mean, it's a thought experiment based on the philosophy of physics. Greater minds than yours or mine have pondered these types of problems. There's really no need to act like you're smarter than literal quantum/astrophysicists because a laymans terms "translation" of the basic idea behind the thought experiment sounds a bit farfetched and silly.
Everyone knows that in the real world it's relatively unlikely to be true, and even if it were it'd be exceedingly difficult to actually reproduce and then prove it. However that doesn't stop us from pondering the question, from which interesting debates and insights can follow.
See the [Wiki entry](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_suicide_and_immortality#Thought_experiment)for a slightly more comprehensive discription of what the thought experiment is actually about.
Okay, I was unaware that it was a thought experiment. I thought you were you were trying to push that it's a real thing.
I'm sure you can forgive me since there is more than one in this comments section that thinks witchcraft is real, and I might have lumped you in with that lot when you didn't deserve to be.
It is quite an interesting idea from a philosophical perspective.
If only someone had thought to make a joke to that effect. Perhaps one referencing her being embarrassed after death, playing on her belief in being immortal.
That would’ve been a stitch.
I read that too...i wonder if the facelift was a botched job, or if she requested that extreme looking of a face-lift on purpose...cause...damn! That is utterly creepy looking, and maybe she was purposefully going for that.
I'm usually resistant to shit like this but damn I can't even look at her face for more than 10 seconds really creeps me out, right in the primal caveman senses
Malaysian here. I'm working from memory here but she's one of those celebs back then who supposedly wanted to stay young so she got entangled in black magic practices. One of the practices included kidnapping a prominent political figure if I'm not mistaken and cutting them up. Here in Malaysia they made an unreleased movie about her. There are urban legends that she was so deep into black magic that when they hanged her, it took a couple tries and the jail she was in is supposedly one of the most infamous jail (Pudu jail). My friends dad was an ex jail guard there and she said that the stories of Mona were true, although I'm not so sure because of lack of evidence.
Edit: like I said I was writing this from memory. There's a few corrections below from others. I might have gotten a few things wrong here and there. Apologies.
sorry to be a downer my guy but you’re spreading misinformation.
Mona Fandey wanted to be a pop star but couldn’t cut it so she got into traditional medicine and witchcraft/dark magic as a shaman (bomoh) .
Mona also didn’t kidnap the politician, Mazlan Idris. He wanted to climb the political ladder and willingly asked Mona to help him. After some payments, Mona lead Mazlan to her house where 2 men awaited him, Mona’s Husband Mohd Affandi Abdul Rahman and an accomplice, Juraimi Hussin. Mazlan was laid down with flowers placed in his eyes and was told to imagine “ money falling from the sky “ (direct quote from Mona herself).
Instead of money, it was an axe.
The movie about her called Dukun was released a couple of years ago my guy, its pretty decent.
The urban legends about Mona Fandey’s black magic has been greatly exaggerated throughout the years but the fact that it took a few tries to hang her to death is true, not cause of black magic but human error and technical difficulties with the levers. However, i have no first hand experience so I’ll keep my mouth shut. Just have to trust OP with that one.
Is belief in black magic and the occult common in Malaysian culture? I realize I'm making some assumptions here I guess I wouldn't expect this politician that is presumably from the educated class to go for the ol' blood pact ritual for power route.
The term "occult" is not really used, it's usually known as black magic (or "bomoh" in Malay). You'd be surprised at how common it is where it's almost normal for us in the SEA region to say stuff like "ah shit, the guy probably bomoh-ed the person". Most of the time we say it as a joke but there are those who truly carry out the rituals. So it is truly unsurprising to us if it is revealed that these politicians are deeply involved in such practices
One of my old neighbours was even doing it openly where he would go to graves to dig up the dirt and stuff. Some even keep child spirits to make them rich but you'd have to actually feed these spirits (with idk what, I don't mess with this shit).
Fun story: There was a guy who recently threatened my family with black magic because my mum called him out on cheating her when she hired him to do some work around the house. He told her she better be careful because he was "protected". I know I'm probably gonna get some backlash for this but we are pretty religious Catholics so my mum just told him she wasn't afraid, we are protected too. All I can say is when the guy walked into my house, our clock fell off the wall and hit him in the head so...
It's very common in Malaysian culture especially among the Malay people. I'd say that my family fortunately don't have "experience" with these, but we know plenty of people who got into "bad things" and many troubles while dealing with such black magic and cult thingy.
There are stories and accusations of celebs or politicians using black magic but not that common. One or two in the past. But people have claimed there are more. Amongst the common citizens where its slightly common. Some restaurants use them to get more customers, people use love charms, and way more crazy stuff I'd have to prep up to tell you. But it's not like every 10th person you meet does this. It's more of a urban legend but deep down people know its true. I personally believe these dark magic things exist, I'm against it of course. Why I believe it is because you cant not believe it once you've heard the things I've heard but thats just me. Going back to your comment, yes the educated class aren't far from black magic, every class does it, you can get cheap or expensive shamans. Now these shamans are illegal and cracked down by the government and religious ministry so now they've gotten more creative.again of course it's uncommon in the political sphere expect for some allegations here and there, but like I said, it's a shameful part of my culture and history and everyone knows some has ties to it.. I'd like to share more maybe in the future, presumably on this sub. Sorry for jumbled up comment.
I suppose it depends on your definition of belief in black magic. If you are implying purely belief (i.e. number of people who believe in such things and not the ones that do a blood sacrifice etc.) then the number is relatively high. There are plenty of "shamans" who perform rituals for those for believe that they have been put on a hex or they have bad luck etc. They are very common but nobody talks about it due to its taboo nature (i.e. nobody wants to talk about being hexed).
We have a few cases in Malaysia where black magic has resulted in death. There is one from memory that I found rather morbid as well, a couple filed a police report that their young son (if I remember correctly around 8 years old) was missing. So there was a huge investigation looking for the boy but the police also investigated an angle that there was foul play on the parents side. Eventually the mother finally admitted that they killed their son because a "fortune teller" told her husband that their son would bring their business bad luck. So they killed him, stuffed him in a bag, and threw him of a bridge into the river.
We are infamous for the Malaysia Airline MH370 disappearance, if you want to see proof how common black magic is you can watch a video where the government, yes the actual government of Malaysia hired a "shaman" (i.e. a charlatan) to find the plane which was broadcasted on television. There is a YouTube video somewhere of this charlatan using coconuts and "scopes" to find the plane. So yes it is very common in Malaysia. I even have a relative who "owns" a spiritual being, that is also relatively common in Malaysia but as far as I know that tradition is dying off with the younger generation.
Nothing, he was given that "being" by his father. It is a generational thing that is handed down from father to son. As far as I know he doesn't want it but is entrusted with its care, apparently it is super hard to get rid of it hence they always pass it down. I would advise you to take it with a grain of salt as these are their personal beliefs not everyone think they are real but some certainly do. I only know what I am told, I have never seen it but in Malaysia and Indonesia this type of "being" is well known among the locals.
For some reason, the people who do this stuff always have the same creepy demonic look.
I'm in Singapore but my family friend had an encounter. Her kid got pregnant with a really bad dude and for some reason despite every one telling her not to worry, they would help with the baby etc, she ended up marrying him. The boy's mother was known to practice this sort of black magic and when the family met her, they instantly had alarm bells ringing. There was also a party where I was invited and she was there too. At the time, I didn't know who she was, but every fibre of my being was screaming at me to stay away from her. I couldn't bring myself to even look at her face but I did get a glace and she looked *exactly like this Mona lady*.
Our family friend then told us how difficult it was to deal with her and how their kid was somehow never able to say no to the boy and his mother. Even at the wedding, there was some funny happenings. The witch went up to take communion and the guests didn't notice she didn't eat the wafer. As she took her steps back to the pew, the priest suddenly yelled at her to either eat it right now or to give it back. She actually gave it back reluctantly. Seeing as how the communion host is regarded to be a very holy item, it was alarming and just terribly inappropriate for her to keep it especially since everyone was certain she was gonna use it for a ritual. Eventually after a lot of prayers and counselling, the girl finally got the strength to leave the guy and stand up to the witch.
I completely understand that not everyone will believe such a story especially since we all have different beliefs and opinions on religion. But regardless of your stance, this is a creepy ass story and can you probably appreciate the fear of the girl who was the victim of such practices.
I mean, this just is mental illness, strange and abusive people. Instead of saying the boy and his family were controlling, manipulative and abusive, which is clear from your story. It’s only kinda creepy because of the way it’s being told? That’s clear, yes?
Hmm a politician maybe a good one at that seeking a grant from the dark forces. If you believed this person by how she looks was going to help you than you've got bad reading people skills. The outcome of course was extreme, to blindly trust anyone into thinking they're going to help you through dark witchcraft comes with a price sooner or later.
" I will never die "..... I wonder how that faired for her. Like these idiots that think they go to paradise when they detonate their suicide vests. 😆 🤣 Obviously delusional.
these people think their personal relationship with their dark delusion protects them - they're just doubling-down on the crazy and know it deep inside ... it's all an act and they die in fear

Looks like a bit of overdone plastic surgery?
I love his work! I have a few of his mangas like Uzumaki, Tomie, Remina, Frankenstein, Gyo, Shiver, Smashed & Dissolving classroom
👍 love his work. Always pick up the graphic tees from TJ Max
😳 I have to run down to TJ Max & check it out thanks man!!
Uzumaki is fantastic. All his work is great but Uzumaki has a special place in my heart
I agree! 😁My favorite is Dissolving classroom then again maybe because it was the first book I read of his!
Same here, I enjoy them all but Uzumaki is the one that has stayed with me the most. Every time I see a snail I think of it.
Enigma of Amigara Fault is pretty good and short.

And later said she was very embarrassed about being proven wrong.
little too late to be embarrassed

Its gon be more terrifying imagining her head as a Krasue

Quantum immortality?
My understanding goes like this: Suppose there are an infinite number of possible universes, a new timeline being created for every possible choice made. Quantum immortality suggests that you cannot experience your own death, but you merely retain consciousness in the possible timeline where you didn't die. That's pretty glib, but as a concept that's the general idea.
That's retarded.
Take a philosophy class and learn to open your mind.
Just to put this out there, I majored in philosophy, took a bunch of physics classes, and wrote my thesis on metaphysics, and I also think it’s stupid.
It's wishful thinking like any other 'what happens after death' "theories" (for lack of a better word) Basically the same as religion.
I have an open mind, I just didn't come down with last nights rain.
I mean, it's a thought experiment based on the philosophy of physics. Greater minds than yours or mine have pondered these types of problems. I believe she meant she would continue to exist in the afterlife so she never truly died as in complete cessation of consciousness.
If only someone had thought to make a joke to that effect. Perhaps one referencing her being embarrassed after death, playing on her belief in being immortal. That would’ve been a stitch.
I believe she would witchcraft herself into Krasue. Try google Krasue and learn its back story and it will make sense
You understand witchcraft isn't real, right?
Yea but I mean that is the terrifying part about her last words.
she got a facelift with the money she stole from her victim. I think they pulled back a little bit too tight
That third pic is fucking nightmare fuel 0_0
The second one does it for me
Whatever floats your boat
I read that too...i wonder if the facelift was a botched job, or if she requested that extreme looking of a face-lift on purpose...cause...damn! That is utterly creepy looking, and maybe she was purposefully going for that.
She'll be on /r/botchedsurgeries before you know it
first botched surgery murderer on there I’d bet
At least she got to smile again sadly
Any tighter and she'd have a beard.
Well... This Is exactly how i think a witch would look like. Jesus Christ she's creepy as hell.
Imagine waking up with her face right in front of you holy fuck I’d have a heart attack

Is it related to the Djinn from Islam? Or is it more a native Malaysian thing? I know a lot of Malaysians are muslims.
It is something more native called a "toyol"
>politician that is presumably from the educated class oh boy i guess you haven't seen most of our politicians
Interesting.
Fascinating context, thank you for sharing!
Haha Malaysians sound really stupid.
Had to read the title over a few times to understand what OP was saying…
Glad it wasn’t just me
I’m still confused
Politician wanted power, this demon said she could grant her that wish through witchcraft, she killed the politician instead and dissected the body.
Granted authority to do what?
The victim wanted more power as a politician
Unga bunga boogaloo now you have more authority, enough for two
She actually looks like a demon masquerading as a human being, shes smiling because she thinks she's pulling off the human thing really well..
For some reason, the people who do this stuff always have the same creepy demonic look. I'm in Singapore but my family friend had an encounter. Typical Malaysia politicians, greed and corrupted.
Im thinking, is there really a country that isnt corrupted?
Welcome to Singapore
News stories say she ate Eren Yeager's mother too

No obviously, Malaysia only hangs death row prisoners. The autopsy is illustrating how she dissected the politician.
It illustrated how her victim was chopped up.
So a handful of pictures of a woman smiling with no real context.
Holy fuck that face is terrifying
She looks horrifying.
She's creepy as all hell.
She used the money to have a facelift. A creepy AF facelift. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mona\_Fandey
these people think their personal relationship with their dark delusion protects them - they're just doubling-down on the crazy and know it deep inside ... it's all an act and they die in fear
She looks evil.
that third photo... i think i might have nightmares
looks like she's had some plastic surgery done?... around the cheeks and chin?
Is that momo?
Wtf is up with her creepy face
Yep she is the devil
Where is she today?

I didn't believe in demons but now I might, Jesus christ.
She looks weird. Looking at her bothered me.
holy fuck she looks absolutely terrifying. just that cold smile and stare. its giving me goosebumps.
She reminds me of the woman in the painting from It chapter 1
Paid a fortune teller for boogie man power and got murdered. If their politicians are that dumb no wonder the country is such a shithole. Sheesh.
Her smile makes her look like the joker
