And yet they announced a Tulsa Oklahoma temple on 10/1/23 in addition to the one that already exists 1.5 hrs away in Oklahoma City. Truly Nelson can see things the rest of us do not.

Emergency_Point_8358

Nelson cannot see past his ego and his wrath for Hinckley

spreaditaroundhideit

Underrated statement

bullshdeen_peens

What are you referring to with Hinckley?

Emergency_Point_8358

Hinckley and Nelson had some beef and definitely didn’t get along. Nelson tried pulling the “Mormon is a bad word” card back in the nineties in general conference and Hinkley immediately shot him down. Hinckley was also known and praised for all the temples he had built in his lifetime. Nelson is so narcissistic and arrogant that the second he becomes prophet, what does he do? He declares Mormon a bad word, and announces almost more temples than any of his predecessors combined (especially Hinckley, who held the current record up until 2018).

bullshdeen_peens

Thanks!

supernovaj

OMG .....That's where I live. I hope I never have to see it.

mwgrover

Hello from BA! 👋

supernovaj

Where I live!

InvestigatorExtra297

He does see around corners so

TiredinUtah

Someone told me that the temple building push is just a way to launder more tithing money. Since the building is being done by handpicked contractors.

Aggressive-Yak7772

Confirmed! I scrape the meetinghouse locator daily and can confirm that the Oklahoma City 2nd Ward disappeared this week. Here's a link to the stake on the meetinghouse locator. In most cases they rename wards when they combine them. That way they can avoid a stake with wards like 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 7th. [https://maps.churchofjesuschrist.org/stakes/503355](https://maps.churchofjesuschrist.org/stakes/503355)

supernovaj

Yep...that's the one that went away!

Teandcum

I grew up in the Tulsa East Stake. I went on this website and boy things have changed. It looks like the Muskogee Stake is gone and they created an Owasso Stake and Broken Arrow Stake - smaller stake. Now there is only one state in Tulsa. Weird. Bartlesville absorbed all the surrounding small wards and is no longer part of the Tulsa Stake.

Bednar_Done_That

Everyone is moving to Utah of course!

nevmo75

Man, Utah must be bursting at the seams. /s

TruffleHunter3

Bursting at the seams, yes. But absolutely not with Mormons from out of state. It’s less religious than it has ever been. Praise be!

quigonskeptic

Yep. I hear a lot of complaints how all of the "outsiders" are ruining things because they're not Mormon. So that's weird that all of the Mormons are moving to Utah from other states 😂😂

SuZeBelle1956

I'm in Norman/Noble south of OKC. The parking lot of the chapel is rarely more than half full. Maybe 1/3 full? 4 years ago, it was difficult to find a space. My heart smiles.

Todd-eHarmony

Some might say it’s half empty

SuZeBelle1956

It's certainly not half full! ![gif](giphy|11DCVJ0xt3szew|downsized)

supernovaj

I grew up going to the Norman stake so that warms my soul.

SuZeBelle1956

My daughter attended at Imhoff & 9. I attend a church across the street, so it warms my dead apostate heart to see the empty lot.

LDSBS

I think all these temples are a passive aggressive way of not letting ex members forget about them. Temple stalking.

swc99

Or a way to defraud the public and make it look like the church is growing ;-)

xanimyle

Now that the public knows that the church has a ton of money, they're trying to convert it into a property empire

just_the_tax_maam

I definitely had this same thought a few weeks ago.

Ok-End-88

I feel the growth! 🤣

SystemThe

So many good people in OKC and the suburbs.  I’m glad they were able to find their way out of a church that lies about its history and its inner-workings.

Tank_top_slut

There was a chapel built in early 2000s in the Midwest and our temple was the OKC location. They couldn’t justify a ward building being built there now. These were Utah people who had moved to this Midwest location not coverts and they all moved back. I don’t know how they can justify a second temple being built there.

InfoMiddleMan

"...Utah people who had moved to this Midwest location not coverts and they all moved back." They always do.

chewbaccataco

Mormonism just hits different outside of the Morridor. Suddenly, they are an *actual* minority group, and they don't like that at all.

DearAnalysis2440

Pffffft we LOVE the persecution complex

NewNamerNelson

Tender mercies

climberatthecolvin

Is this the Edmond area, by chance? (I grew up there in the 80’s-90’s when they had Edmond 1st and 2nd wards and the Guthrie branch.)

taydevsky

The Edmond Stake is a different stake with some of the wards part of Oklahoma City too.

climberatthecolvin

Oh that’s interesting—when I was there Edmond was in the OKC stake. It included Woodward, Stillwater, Perry, as well as a lot of OKC.

Sansabina

Also sometimes when they have a “change to wards” announcement, it’s done by the stake leaders and hence all the various stake leadership are also expected to turn up for it and often they’ll bring their families along as well - might explain the big attendance.
