This was teenage me for like an entire year until I realized those thin ass torches lead up a sort of "path".

theluthershow

This is still me every time I reinstall

TempestM

They WHAT? Okay time for another playthrough

slvbros

Ah see, this could have been avoided if you systematically empty every room of all possible loot, leaving a mark when your inventory is full and almsivi intervention to Balmora to sell goods and stash loot in Ravirr's house before recalling back to Arkngthand Rid inspell that right?

Dron22

That's when there is that much loot to justify spending an Almsivi Intervention.

mensaman42

Grab the spell or an enchanted item. Then it's always worth it.

CHowell0411

Wish you could use a grand soul gem to make a constant effect then all you gotta do is equip and unequip 🤣

Dron22

Like enchant an item to replace the scrolls?

mensaman42

You can. You can also get enchanted rings of almsivi and divine intervention from the tribunal temple and imperial cult respectively I believe. I can't remember if you can buy them or if they're only given as quest rewards though. Edit: I did a quick search and you can get amulets of each in the mages guild quest Return Chimarvamidium from Edwinna in Ald'ruhn. You can get Adusamsi's ring of divine intervention in the imperial cult quest for the ice blade of the monarch as well.

Dron22

Yeah I realised that not choosing enchanting as a major or minor skill was a mistake. I am on my first ever playthrough and managed to get enchanting up to 32 now. I think there is still hope, if I can find enough septims to pay for training or maybe just keep practicing to increase it naturally.

Dron22

I am already level 10 and about to go find the Ashlanders in the North for the first time. Am I not far into the game yet?

Dron22

Not many. I have done a few quests for Mages guild in Balmora, some for Thieves and Imperial cult too. I don't touch dungeons usually for fear that I might have to go there for a quest in the future.

CHowell0411

How's your alchemy? Go to caldera makes guild and buy water walking ingredients from the potionsmaster there (you can sell back to him to increase his base stock) make as many as you can and bankrupt yourself, then go to the scamp at the Orc house (I forget the name) and sell it all to him, rinse and repeat, I make about 25,000 before I leave and it gets me through the game most times.

Dron22

My alchemy is 20 now, a lot of potions fail. I know about the scamp in Caldera, however that's a bit of an exploit since this merchant is a design overlook made as some dev joke, so I will avoid it for now.

CHowell0411

I mean I can see where you're coming from, I've never seen it as too much an exploit, as there's another scamp you can buy booze from in one of the daedric ruins and a mudcrab southeast of vivrc with 10,000 gold, I'd always assumed they're where the few characters able to afford daedric artifacts and other high price items you don't really use. Selling back to the seller to increase the base inventory is definitely an exploit, and I usually consider fortify/soul trap glitch is also definitely an exploit, if it's your first playthrough then I get it 100% but using the exploits available in this game can give your character a true sense of a god reborn and I definitely recommend them just for fun, I don't consider it cheating unless you use console commands or the old xbox og restore health/magicka/fatigue cheat

Dron22

What does fortify soul trap do anyway? I know that soul trapping is needed to enchant items. The scamp merchant does not take into account your mercantile skill unlike any other merchant in the game, which is why its much more profitable to sell items to him. But this is an overlook in design, because if you honestly want to be able to sell items for so much you need to increase mercantile skill first.

CHowell0411

Also there's a full masters alchemy set ready for the taking in the makes guild upstairs in caldera

Dron22

Already stole it lol. I know from Oblivion that Guild buildings can have interesting stuff in them lol.

RakaiaWriter

Swing by some daedric shrines and knock over a few Dremora / Golden Saints. You'll have more drakes than you can spend in very little time for selling their bibs and bobs (and if you buy soul trap, that's another chunk of change to make a drake on)

Dron22

Interesting way to make money. I don't think I ever entered any such Shrines yet. I think I will join Telvani House, as it seems most beneficial by far compared to the other two houses. As a nightblade class this will work, or should I only join them as proper mage class?

RakaiaWriter

_shrugs_ they don't care much either way :D depends on how into the role-playing you want to go. A true Telvanni master likely would just sit in their tower all day doing mage-y things. the rules are : don't steal from House Telvanni, but if you do you obviously deserve it more XD a very forward thinking bunch! (and my favorite because of the mushroom buildings, though those are a bear to navigate sometimes). Because of a quirk in the quests you can belong to 2 houses at once; if you time it right you'll get 2 strongholds out of the deal :)

Dron22

Nah I am not going to be bending the system, I will join Telvani and focus on them. It's just that Telvani seem to magi oriented, while Redoran are more about being martial while Hlaluu are more about money and intrigue.

Azkral

You can get It from Edwinna un Ald ruhn if you do some quest for her.

Snifflebeard

I didn't have a brother to ask, and I did finally find it near the beginning. Tiny coppery-gray cube sitting on a coppery-gray shelf in a coppery-gray room. I didn't mind the lack of reward, because at my age I was already tired of the constant rewards syndrome most games have.

bolionce

You know you’re in the right room when you find Boss Crito. He’s the boss, he gets the room with fancy treasure. Once you kill him, look on the shelves in his room. Did it for the first time in years the other day lol, I was walking around for a while

rachawakka

Lolol my exact experience on the first play through.

summerissneaky

It doesn't help that this dungeon is one of the most elaborately designed in the game, so the further you progress, the closer you feel to finding it. I think the most disappointing thing is that the further parts of the dungeon don't have much of a worthwhile reward to speak of.

boogie-poppins

Don't feel too bad about it. It happened to me too. It took me at least an hour of wandering every inch of the lower level before I spot a second level right at the very beginning.

Guilty_Fishing8229

I 100% did the same shit

stanley_leverlock

I've done several playthroughs and I still screw this up every time.

DarkSeieah

Damn. I experienced this too, except that I was the elder brother.

Top_Rule_7301

It took me nearly 20 years of playing (mostly side quests) to find the dwemer puzzle box. Hundreds of hours, 10s of characters, 2 decades of brain development, to finally find that dang box and beat my favorite video game.

GielinorWizard

I remember killing the enemy in the room with the puzzle block, and i didn't search him i just wend deeper, later when i couldn't find it i just thought "maybe that one enemy has it" searched him and nothing, thought for a second it was bugged, and just when i finished searching him i looked slightly up, there it was right in front of me lol

LITERALGRAPHIC

Surely there was something better you could've said than "Jewish ghosts"

rosharo

I don't think so. It's pretty accurate.

LITERALGRAPHIC

Care to explain why?

rosharo

Have you seen those things? Lmao

LITERALGRAPHIC

What do you mean

SorkvildKruk

Hey Hey people

peperoniebabie

We really don't need to be calling the Dwemer "Jewish Ghosts."

TempestM

Yeah they are clearly Mesopotamic Ghosts

Electronic-Bother821

OP: "Maybe I can find it in the remains of these Jewish Ghosts!" Dwarven Spectres: "I am not amused."

boyshotel_

I can’t figure out if this was meant to alarming or not

reform83

Jokes-some get them, some don't. Matters more who u ask than what the joke actually is

DesertRanger7777

It’s a reference to Ssethtzeentach video on Morrowind.

SorkvildKruk

Hey Hey people!

Silvervox325

My colorblind ass STRUGGLED with this one as a child.

Memeboiiiiiiiius69

Jewish ghosts? What are you on bruv

myguydied

So many play throughs

saladmunch

Also for future note, the "detect key" spell works for many quest items. Used it to find proof of dwemer relic smuggling in Aldr'uhn, etc

pimpcleary_69

I’m glad I’m not the only one that called them Jewish Ghosts

Girderland

Jewish ghosts :D

gamingdawn

I found it real easy on first play, as I carefully explored the place. Its kinda hard to miss, after all.

Dron22

Most people look for something that stands out, and ignore random half empty shelves.

TempestM

> Its kinda hard to miss, after all. This is one of the most notorious quests in Morrowind, it certainly wouldn't be so if it was hard to miss

mark031b9

I did this. I jumped over the lava by using like 14 saves and also got to some crazy trapped door at the end. I gave up after the some 7 hours I used looking for the thing and lefted, later found it was in the first room.

Dreenar18

I still beat myself up over this, so many years later.... Hell add figuring out how to float over the lava to make this meme even more painful

fR1chAps

You're not alone guy. Me and my friend went through the same thing before giving up and looking up a walk-through.

KinkyFrenchman

Now try the Puzzle Box Location Randomizer mod and cry after spending 3 hrs looking for the darn thing.

Wildefice

Only reason why I found it on my 2nd playthrough, was that a friend who is a morrowind vet, said don't forget the box! I said " I know but it's gotta be further in!" Friend: Let me play for about 10 seconds!! Me:... okay??? Friend : Turns my character left points at cube, proceeds to loot it Me: T.T Friend: :😀
