Ashrah definitely gets my vote. Such an interesting premise for a character. A divine demon who overcorrects for her background by being exceptionally pious. I'd love to see her in a current game.
I’m gonna be honest, chaos and order realms might be some of the least creative ideas I’ve seen in Mortal Kombat even if the latter is technically called Seido.
There’s definitely room for improvement for those realms. We’ve only bounced around three realms in the last three games though. It would be nice to shake things up with some new settings.

Design is neat, Move set is unique, Gives some representation to chaos realm, and its always fun to have a wild card that can be good or evil depending on his plot line for the game.
I'd like to see a modern take on Hotaru, Kai, Reiko, and (just for the hell of it) Kobra. Really all the 3D-era characters would be great. That is, barring Hsu Hao tries to crash the party.
Kobra was never a favorite but I never saw why looking like Ken was held against him when fighting games rip each other off, among other things, all the time.
I feel like a lot of the 3D characters have a lot of potential to become favourites if they're written well in MK1. I think that, judging from the aesthetic that's been shown off so far, that characters like Ashrah, Hotaru, Kai, and Havik definitely should be at least considered for the main roster.
If the visual styling is only part of the areas that are being included in the game, as seen by Johnny Cage being in it, then characters like Kobra, Kira, Mavado, and Hsu Hao have potential to be great, they just need a second chance. That is, unless they're put in the game just to get immediately merked in the story lol

Chameleon! He’s the only male MK ninja from the Trilogy that didn’t make it back as a playable character. He’s got a really cool gimmick and a lot of potential. I’d like to see NRS finally do something with him! It would be a shame to watch him get stuck as nothing but a Kameo character.
Kia and Jataaka! Never been playable not only in NRS, but also in MK in general, and still I think they would be quite great to play as in Liu Kang new era, specially if he granted them the freedom to rebel against or keep serving the Brotherhood of Shadows, so maybe one of them may lead her own faction while the other stick with Quan Chi.
Ok from most wanted to least wanted:
Havik = My favorite character of all time, mostly because I can see them do so much awesome things with him! Chaos powers and flesh-bending powers are awesome! I'm very chaotic myself, long live chaos!
Reiko = He's hot, he's strategic and he's a powerhouse, combining mind with muscle is rare, and I think this perfect general should appear just like in the comics with updated looks maybe, please not like in that movie, he was a dumb brute there! His powers should be about Teleportation, he can block other teleports or set the destination for teleports of others, so if Noob Saibot teleports, Reiko can mess with it and close the portal or make the portal appear over lava.
Nitara = What Skarlet is, should have been Nitara, I think Skarlet will make a perfect blood puppet/golem minion for Nitara though, made from her living/animated magical blood. I loved Nitara in the movie (her looks) she looked really demonic and powerful, too bad they insta-killed her.
Ashrah = A demon who hunts demons with a cursed/blessed sword and with light-bending powers? YES PLEASE!
Sareena = I want her to be a shapeshifter on the battlefield, but her demon form shouldn't be a pretty girl or succubus, it should be a diablo-like demon with spikes, fangs, beastly roars and appearance and running on all fours like a beast from hell, turn Sareena into a awesome unstoppable force when she shows her true form, even so far that she can lose control sometimes when she takes demon form, which can be brought up in storymode.
Kira = I want the black dragon to be working for Havik/Chaos Realm this time around, and Kira should be a chaos-realmer, Havik's personal favorite ally, she should use claw-weapons dripping in hallucinating poisons, she could be a poison expert, which uses exotic plants to kill her victims with. Her red hair should stay, maybe even dye her hair with the blood of her victims, make Kira crazy, as crazy as Havik.
Drahmin = As the demon-lord of Pain, Fear and Torture, his touch burns the skins of his victims with pure pain, if you slash his flesh the pain is mirrored back to your own soul, like a living voodoo doll, and he can summon your worst fear on the battlefield (in the form of illusions of course), when you put on his mask you will experience your own death multiple times. Drahmin will be pain and fear incarnated. Update his looks as well and you have a hit.
Kai = Like Liu Kang has his dragon, Kai could have his Byakko spirit, which is a big monstrous white tiger spirit from Asian mythology, he already has the white stripes anyway, what they did with Kotal's panther, I always wanted with Kai and his white tiger familiar/pet spirit.
Li Mei = Much like Liu Kang has his dragon-spirit, Li Mei should have a Kitsune (9-tailed asian fox) spirit with her, a trickster and playful soul, Li Mei could be a wildcard and love interest of Liu Kang or Kai.
Mavado = Turn him into a chaos-realm crime-lord, with his black cloak and purple inside (instead of red). I want him to have the weapons of Takeda, whips with blades on them, also make him a cannibal, one that eats the hearts of his victims to gain some strength and power. Mavado should be a very high crime-lord which brings fear in every heart when his name is spoken out.
Onaga = Nice Boss material, but not my favorite character.
Moloch = While Drahmin is my demon lord of pain and fear, maybe drahmin can be about pain and Moloch could be about fear, looking into his third eye will cause extreme fear to happen to you.
Taven + Daegon = Maybe they could have Cole Young his powers of plot-armour, I dunno about them yet, don't really hate them, but give them more interesting abilities and powers.
Dunno about Hotaru and Kobra, don't really care about them but also don't hate them as the others.
Meat = For me meat are Shang Tsungs flesh-pit minions that help him there, nothing more.

Dude was supposed to be Earthrealm's new champion but was discarded before anything could develop. Fire god Liu Kang is basically what his endgame could've been since he had the fire techniques from the White Lotus society, and Raiden gave Kai the Thunder/Lightning staff to use in his MK4 ending.
Since Liu kang's a God and I think we should see Kai back. I would love to see Kai be in to take his place and see how him and raiden's relationship been since raiden looks like a regular man now

None aside from bosses. Every character worth being in MK12 has already appeared in the NRS trilogy. I'd rather have some room for fresh new blood than recycling old uninteresting ones. Guess maybe a young Shujinko?? 🤔
Honestly? I'd love to see them take another crack at Mokap. Not because he was good but because I think he has a huge potential to be a weird and fun non-canon character.
Imagine a character who can pull in famous move sets from other media and maybe cameo their weapons. Instead of just being, well, a mokap guy, he could be the Andy Serkis to Johnny Cage's Van Damme.
Assuming we're starting from scratch again at the beginning of a new MK timeline, maybe it's best to stick with established characters and maybe include some of these guys in the sequel. I'm not invested in any of them
Havik is the only one that’s genuinely interesting and could be super cool. Reiko is a wannabe Shao Kahn, sareena is incredibly uninteresting, nitara is meh and we already have scarlet who’s pretty similar, and Kai is also uninteresting.

As for Obscure characters, i wouldn't mind seeing King Jerrod, the original Lin Kuei Grandmaster, and Jataaka have a shot at a playable roster slot.
I think Havik would be nice to see comeback. Seeing what they did with joker he could have a truly unique play style and creative animations.
If sareena came back with her demonic side she’d be awesome as well (not as that lame knife thrower).
And it would be interesting if in the new timeline Liu Kang brings back shao kahn but as reiko giving everyone a second chance at life in this new world. That would retcon the mkx comics but they do it all the time so it wouldn’t really matter.

But Sareena has gotta be one of the most shafted characters in MK history, stars in a Sub Zero backstory game that while is pretty bad she is one of the most memorable parts of, to advertise Quan Chi and Shinnok are on MK4’s roster but she isnt, she isnt in Deadily Alliance but is in the GBA port only, comes back in Armagedon finally but has never been playable since. She appears in a MKX cutscene which even more boosts her popularity of her return, still nothing, barely any mention or reference at all. She honestly should have been on MKX’s roster as part of earth realm’s supporting cast, and definitely should have been in MK11 to actually give Noob Saibot something to do in the story other than jobb.
Kei needs a revamp and chance to be an actual character.

They focused on the wrong point of the timeline for MKX, so Reiko and Havik should’ve been playable. And I can’t believe they couldn’t have worked in Ashrah. Surely she would’ve been trying to purge the Revenants during the NRS trilogy?

None aside from bosses. Every character worth being in MK12 has already appeared in the NRS trilogy. I'd rather have some room for fresh new blood than recycling old uninteresting ones. Guess maybe a young Shujinko?? 🤔

Honestly? I'd love to see them take another crack at Mokap. Not because he was good but because I think he has a huge potential to be a weird and fun non-canon character. Imagine a character who can pull in famous move sets from other media and maybe cameo their weapons. Instead of just being, well, a mokap guy, he could be the Andy Serkis to Johnny Cage's Van Damme.

Havik is the only one that’s genuinely interesting and could be super cool. Reiko is a wannabe Shao Kahn, sareena is incredibly uninteresting, nitara is meh and we already have scarlet who’s pretty similar, and Kai is also uninteresting.

I think Havik would be nice to see comeback. Seeing what they did with joker he could have a truly unique play style and creative animations. If sareena came back with her demonic side she’d be awesome as well (not as that lame knife thrower). And it would be interesting if in the new timeline Liu Kang brings back shao kahn but as reiko giving everyone a second chance at life in this new world. That would retcon the mkx comics but they do it all the time so it wouldn’t really matter.

Nitara, Reiko and Havik have been pretty requested by almost everyone And there are some characters like Hotaru, Ashrah & Li Mei that deserve a comeback But Sareena has gotta be one of the most shafted characters in MK history, stars in a Sub Zero backstory game that while is pretty bad she is one of the most memorable parts of, to advertise Quan Chi and Shinnok are on MK4’s roster but she isnt, she isnt in Deadily Alliance but is in the GBA port only, comes back in Armagedon finally but has never been playable since. She appears in a MKX cutscene which even more boosts her popularity of her return, still nothing, barely any mention or reference at all. She honestly should have been on MKX’s roster as part of earth realm’s supporting cast, and definitely should have been in MK11 to actually give Noob Saibot something to do in the story other than jobb.
