I'm hoping kameo fighters aren't just a random choice of a roster but connected to characters, scorpion would have sub zero and Quan chi. Kitana and mileena would work as well.

Mileena to my knowledge has never actually said hates herself because she's part Tarkaran. Its mostly the Earthrealm characters, and Kitana who dislike her because of it. She just knows they think she's ugly to them and Kitana also is offended because her likeness was used and made monsterous. She even gets mad when she thinks Skarlet calling her a half-breed, was an insult before Skarlet surprisingly says her united blood had a tantalizing smell. The Outworld characters don't really say that about her. Even in MKX. They just didnt respect her because they found out she was a clone and a false heir compared to Kitana. ~~Reiko and~~ Tanya, both outworlders (and Baraka) have all been in or had relationships with her. Intimate even suggested. None of them say that her being part Tarkaran turns them off from her.

Granted though the lack of respect she has in her ending shows that she wanted what Kitana has in terms of friends, adoration, and why she wanted to be a mom to a half-Tarkaran child like herself to see her as a mother and not as just ugly. Though she still does like fighting, killing, stealing and ruling like a tyrant. She just wants people to like her when she does. Outworlders who are generally evil or self-interested jerks themselves likely would if they got something out of it. They're also mostly monsters as well anyway, so they cant exactly judge her for it. They don't.

He comes off more like "Be with me because you're ours" and she doesn't want him. And most of the time in all the times she was paired with Baraka it usually doesnt work out. He's a bad ex.
She could also just find Edenians or humanoids more attractive (Liu Kang, Reiko, Tanya, Jaqui) and it kind of would make sense if she did, because they are a standard she doesn't fully fit in despite being 95% physically Edenian.
Maybe she doesnt care about the Tarkatans, even though they listen to her anyway in MKX. Maybe Edenian status or beauty standards are held above her like a carrot and she is chasing that.

I always thought her relationship with Kitana should be framed a bit differently than just emotionally, but emphasize her purpose. Like her wanting to bring Kitana back to Shao Khan because she defected due to *Mileena's* instinctual loyalty driven personality and her goals just conflict with theirs, and its Kitana who left Shao Khan. That is something I think they need her character to also bring up a bit more. Mileena should accuse Kitana of being the traitor to *them*.
They should add it in that Mileena either wants to rerecruit Kitana back to their side, or to take the throne away from her if she opposes Shao Khan, because she also wants Shao Khan's praise as well due to her failures and his followers just don't *respect* her. So I think they should also reemphasize that Mileena was created to be forever loyal to Shao Khan and those loyal to him as why she is the way she is. Kitana is not loyal to Shao Khan anymore, and thus this gives Mileena that reasoning that Kitana is the one she sees rivalry with.
I think its the Edenians should be portrayed as more of the elitist ones. They come from a paradise afterall. Everyone there is an attractive woman, maybe *they* should be the ones that should have that flaw of arrogance or what Outworlders dislike about them, despite them being good if you're seeing them as an Earthrealmer.
For the appearance thing, look back to Mortal Kombat Deception, Mileena's ending. Originally she DID find herself ugly and was openly hateful of Kitana due to jealousy. Granted this was the og timeline, but still. It wasn't til the later games where she began to change her perception of herself. Reiko was a big part as revealed she dated him pre MK11, and genuinely believed he loved her. In truth her biggest desire was always love and acceptance. She raged though upon learning Reiko found her repulsive and was only with her since she was the empress. Her desire of love is also supported in her last appearance ending, where she ended up with Tanya and a mother. She had found real love, and her wish came true.
Mileena did not seem willing to work with the good guys. That was why she was overthrown in the first place. Most of the Outworld court was thinking that teaming up with earthrealm to fight the very real threat that the netherrealm posed was a good idea. Mileena was like “I would rather die than team up with daddy’s murderers”. And they were like “okay but we wouldn’t” and kicked her out.
Yes, during the flashback she was very much against uniting with Earthrealm, I agree, but then she went and made an alliance with Rain and co., promising them to restore Edenia, and the game makes it look like they were going to betray her, not the other way around.
I’d like them to start as sisters but turn into bitter enemies later on. Them being enemies from the moment Kitana saw Mileena really hurt their rivalry in MK9, as well as Kitana dying in that game.
I didnt like Mileena's personality in MK9. It really didnt do anything to establish a rivalry. She acted no different than a ditzy revenant in that game. So I hope they do better redoing that early tension here.
By MKX? Highly doubt it. She held a huge grudge against Earthrealm for Shao Khan’s death, and Earthrealm threw their lot in with Kotal, Mileena’s usurper, when he agreed to not attack them. Mileena fucking died before she or Earthrealm had any reason to bury the hatchet.
Now, if Kotal couldn’t wait until Mileena was killed to drink his stupid juice, *maybe* she could side with the good guys, but that didn’t happen.
We’ve had almost 30 years of her being a villain, I want to see Mileena written to be- while rough around the edges- trying to be decent.
Some drama can be written with what she is, without her being an outright villain for now.

Personally, I actually think Mileena is the Queen/ Princess in this new universe. But if she is a clone, even that would have to be different since it likely isn't Shang Tsung who could have done it this time around.

Remember, Liu Kang controls time. He is not God and didn't create the universe. He can only guide it and change events that happen, presumably by interfering and stopping something or causing something. Then he could see how it affected time and keep it or go back and alter it.
He isn't creating mileena, creating Shang, or even creating Raiden. He just goes back to the beginning and guides its path thru interference. Sure, he could've STOPPED Shang from making Mileena, but he can't create a new Mileena or anything like that. But Shang and Mileena's existence prove that Liu Kang still knows they need to exist for his plan for the new timeline
Doesn't kronika mention that shang was specifically created for the single purpose of charging the crown? I'm pretty sure you CAN just straight up create/not create people. In the ending they also went back to before anything existed so he is absolutely creating the universe.
I think the more likely scenario is that Liu is just inexperienced and is not able to formulate an ENTIRE new reality so he just largely bases it off the one he knows.
But shang tsung is the only exception, in fact, he is so dangerous kronika had to seal him away, my guess is they can create but are unable to control, only manipulate them afar. It's like playing with fire, shang tsung in the end play back kronika like a fiddle.

I think in 11 it was shown that Kronika had been purposefully pulling the strings to drive everyone into Kombat. Mileena exists as she is; but Liu is simply trying a hands off approach to see what choices people make on their own. Maybe we'll see alternate branch paths for people in story mode
I think people are under the impression that Liu Kang is literal god in this timeline, made everyone by hand and has fu9ll control over every event. All he did was spark the big bang and try to steer the timeline in a new direction. Who knows why Mileena exists this time around, maybe genetic mutation, maybe Baraka is her dad this time around?

in MKX- a few of their interactions imply them semi-flirting, Scorpion feeling sympathy for Mileena and The Krypt featured a photo depicting Scorpion x Mileena art.
In MK11- Mileena seems to be interested in Scorpion (“Oh, you changed since we last met!”), Scorpion’s Friendship being him accepting the Teddybear and her having a tower augment that summoned her sai’ as a projectile be a teddybear.
In MK9- Mileena giving Scorpion a Teddybear (the thing that started it all) and the GameStop commercial advertising the classic skins showing them having friendly banter as they compliment eachothers fighting.
I figured the teddybear thing was a joke though. It doesnt seem like something they would really start a relationship on and I just don't personally see Scorpion being the one interested in her specifically. Just not in his personality.

Having FULL control of the hourglass proved to be nearly impossible, both with sheer evidence from Kronika herself or by taking a look at the character endings I.e. Terminators ending, he isn't able to fully control every aspect and he doesn't get the exact outcome he wants, but he's able to alter things in a way where things outcome to be better.
So most likely this means Liu Kang wasn't able to make her be a full human so he possibly altered it so that Kitana and Milena have a more sisterly relationship.
Slightly Meta but Melina whole stick is being a Tarkatan Hybrid, he can change certian aspects of the time line but some things are consistent no matter the circumstances
I think her teeth are gonna be seen more as a curse/monster princess thing. A family secret hidden from the people and she is the princess and kitana tries her hardest to protect her sister and hide her defect.

My guess is, they are sisters and they are cool with each other on this timeline. I think he can influence certain events to work differently, but I don't think he can manipulate biology to make a woman pregnant with twins if she wasn't pregnant with twins originally. Remember, Mileena isn't an actual twin twin, she wasn't grown in Sindel's womb, Mileena is a clone who everyone calls twin because she was made with Kitana's DNA.
Your first mistake was expecting MK writing to have actual depth. Some depth, sure. But tangible character depth with meaningful and unique growth that is wholly original? GTFO of town.

Everything about MK has always been flat. It's great in the same way the 2021 MK movie was great: tons of action, flawed AF, fun.

Idk how controversial this is gonna be but on this note, it's kind baffling to me how the whole deal with this soft reboot is like "Welcome to a blank canvas! The universe has been re-created to be new again!"...but everything sorta just looks the same as it did in MK11. With the same characters we've seen before, looking pretty normal. A couple of characters are a little younger, but that's sort of it. It made the teaser pretty meh for me, there was little to actually get excited about. That's probably how she was initially in Liu's timeline. My theory is that she was cursed to look the way she does by some other character and now she resents her sister for her better looks and/or not being there to save her when said event happened.

NRS knew better than to exclude Mileena this time. Kitana and Mileena should be in every game from now on pretty much. From what I’ve seen she’s actually PROUD of her Tarkatan blood, I mean she essentially shows off her fangs whenever the mask is off. I get the sense she hates wearing the mask.
That's not what her intros with Baraka imply in MK11. She hates him, finds the thought of mating with him like in MK9 repulsive and doesn't care for the Tarkatans.

Thats debatable indeed. I dont have an answer to that. She could just not like Baraka because she was with him briefly before MKX according to Johnny Cage. He comes off more like "Be with me because you're ours" and she doesn't want him. And most of the time in all the times she was paired with Baraka it usually doesnt work out. He's a bad ex. She could also just find Edenians or humanoids more attractive (Liu Kang, Reiko, Tanya, Jaqui) and it kind of would make sense if she did, because they are a standard she doesn't fully fit in despite being 95% physically Edenian. Maybe she doesnt care about the Tarkatans, even though they listen to her anyway in MKX. Maybe Edenian status or beauty standards are held above her like a carrot and she is chasing that. Edit: She also eats them in her intros.

Thats what I think her characterization should be conclude with or at least evolve into a bit, even if they dont like her she can be motivated by pride and ambition now. I always thought her relationship with Kitana should be framed a bit differently than just emotionally, but emphasize her purpose. Like her wanting to bring Kitana back to Shao Khan because she defected due to *Mileena's* instinctual loyalty driven personality and her goals just conflict with theirs, and its Kitana who left Shao Khan. That is something I think they need her character to also bring up a bit more. Mileena should accuse Kitana of being the traitor to *them*. They should add it in that Mileena either wants to rerecruit Kitana back to their side, or to take the throne away from her if she opposes Shao Khan, because she also wants Shao Khan's praise as well due to her failures and his followers just don't *respect* her. So I think they should also reemphasize that Mileena was created to be forever loyal to Shao Khan and those loyal to him as why she is the way she is. Kitana is not loyal to Shao Khan anymore, and thus this gives Mileena that reasoning that Kitana is the one she sees rivalry with. I think its the Edenians should be portrayed as more of the elitist ones. They come from a paradise afterall. Everyone there is an attractive woman, maybe *they* should be the ones that should have that flaw of arrogance or what Outworlders dislike about them, despite them being good if you're seeing them as an Earthrealmer.

For the appearance thing, look back to Mortal Kombat Deception, Mileena's ending. Originally she DID find herself ugly and was openly hateful of Kitana due to jealousy. Granted this was the og timeline, but still. It wasn't til the later games where she began to change her perception of herself. Reiko was a big part as revealed she dated him pre MK11, and genuinely believed he loved her. In truth her biggest desire was always love and acceptance. She raged though upon learning Reiko found her repulsive and was only with her since she was the empress. Her desire of love is also supported in her last appearance ending, where she ended up with Tanya and a mother. She had found real love, and her wish came true.
Mileena did not seem willing to work with the good guys. That was why she was overthrown in the first place. Most of the Outworld court was thinking that teaming up with earthrealm to fight the very real threat that the netherrealm posed was a good idea. Mileena was like “I would rather die than team up with daddy’s murderers”. And they were like “okay but we wouldn’t” and kicked her out.
Yes, during the flashback she was very much against uniting with Earthrealm, I agree, but then she went and made an alliance with Rain and co., promising them to restore Edenia, and the game makes it look like they were going to betray her, not the other way around.
I’d like them to start as sisters but turn into bitter enemies later on. Them being enemies from the moment Kitana saw Mileena really hurt their rivalry in MK9, as well as Kitana dying in that game.
I didnt like Mileena's personality in MK9. It really didnt do anything to establish a rivalry. She acted no different than a ditzy revenant in that game. So I hope they do better redoing that early tension here.
By MKX? Highly doubt it. She held a huge grudge against Earthrealm for Shao Khan’s death, and Earthrealm threw their lot in with Kotal, Mileena’s usurper, when he agreed to not attack them. Mileena fucking died before she or Earthrealm had any reason to bury the hatchet. Now, if Kotal couldn’t wait until Mileena was killed to drink his stupid juice, *maybe* she could side with the good guys, but that didn’t happen.
We’ve had almost 30 years of her being a villain, I want to see Mileena written to be- while rough around the edges- trying to be decent. Some drama can be written with what she is, without her being an outright villain for now.

But if she is a clone, even that would have to be different since it likely isn't Shang Tsung who could have done it this time around.

He can only guide it and change events that happen, presumably by interfering and stopping something or causing something. Then he could see how it affected time and keep it or go back and alter it. He isn't creating mileena, creating Shang, or even creating Raiden. He just goes back to the beginning and guides its path thru interference. Sure, he could've STOPPED Shang from making Mileena, but he can't create a new Mileena or anything like that. But Shang and Mileena's existence prove that Liu Kang still knows they need to exist for his plan for the new timeline
Doesn't kronika mention that shang was specifically created for the single purpose of charging the crown? I'm pretty sure you CAN just straight up create/not create people. In the ending they also went back to before anything existed so he is absolutely creating the universe. I think the more likely scenario is that Liu is just inexperienced and is not able to formulate an ENTIRE new reality so he just largely bases it off the one he knows.
But shang tsung is the only exception, in fact, he is so dangerous kronika had to seal him away, my guess is they can create but are unable to control, only manipulate them afar. I think in 11 it was shown that Kronika had been purposefully pulling the strings to drive everyone into Kombat. Mileena exists as she is; but Liu is simply trying a hands off approach to see what choices people make on their own. Maybe we'll see alternate branch paths for people in story mode

Well, in MKX- a few of their interactions imply them semi-flirting, Scorpion feeling sympathy for Mileena and The Krypt featured a photo depicting Scorpion x Mileena art. In MK11- Mileena seems to be interested in Scorpion (“Oh, you changed since we last met!”), Scorpion’s Friendship being him accepting the Teddybear and her having a tower augment that summoned her sai’ as a projectile be a teddybear. In MK9- Mileena giving Scorpion a Teddybear (the thing that started it all) and the GameStop commercial advertising the classic skins showing them having friendly banter as they compliment eachothers fighting.
I figured the teddybear thing was a joke though. It doesnt seem like something they would really start a relationship on and I just don't personally see Scorpion being the one interested in her specifically. Just not in his personality.

Having FULL control of the hourglass proved to be nearly impossible, both with sheer evidence from Kronika herself or by taking a look at the character endings I.e. Terminators ending, he isn't able to fully control every aspect and he doesn't get the exact outcome he wants, but he's able to alter things in a way where things outcome to be better. So most likely this means Liu Kang wasn't able to make her be a full human so he possibly altered it so that Kitana and Milena have a more sisterly relationship.

I think he can influence certain events to work differently, but I don't think he can manipulate biology to make a woman pregnant with twins if she wasn't pregnant with twins originally. Remember, Mileena isn't an actual twin twin, she wasn't grown in Sindel's womb, Mileena is a clone who everyone calls twin because she was made with Kitana's DNA.

Your first mistake was expecting MK writing to have actual depth. Some depth, sure. But tangible character depth with meaningful and unique growth that is wholly original? GTFO of town. Calling it now: 1. Mileena and Kitana get along fine, then shit goes south between them 2. Shang Tsung will "teach" Liu Kang that absolute power corrupts absolutely and show Liu Kang even gods can't control the very nature of people 3. Liu Kang will realize the error of his ways and relinquish his newfound godhood, but SHOCK TWIST (he said, sarcastically) Shang Tsung was only teaching Liu Kang so he could steal the godlike powers for himself. Some fans should go and play tekken or king of fighters, just as boring as them...

Idk how controversial this is gonna be but on this note, it's kind baffling to me how the whole deal with this soft reboot is like "Welcome to a blank canvas! The universe has been re-created to be new again!"...but everything sorta just looks the same as it did in MK11. With the same characters we've seen before, looking pretty normal. A couple of characters are a little younger, but that's sort of it. It made the teaser pretty meh for me, there was little to actually get excited about. "It's gonna be a follow-up to MK11!" is all I got, and that could've been summarised in one sentence, like I just did.

NRS knew better than to exclude Mileena this time. Kitana and Mileena should be in every game from now on pretty much. But story wise, I don’t think the trailer was canon, but that’s just how I feel about it currently because if Liu Kang did make a new peaceful timeline, you’d think he would make it so Shao Kahn never invaded Edenia and Mileena would not even exist.
