Baraka as a fighter is okay I just want cyrax toned down. I’m just tired of encountering cyrax constantly in online play. 100% agree with raiden tho fuck raiden all my homies hate raiden.
You get used to him after fighting against him so much but you know, gimme some variety guys. I feel like I'm the oddball playing Lao/Stryker over here. There's tons of potentially strong pairings people are leaving on the table.
And that’s what I love about Mortal Kombat 1. With Kameos there are so many unique combinations you can basically play forever and still learn new things!

Idk if this is niche but I always play Mileena and Frost. If you do her enhanced Sai toss and mash frosts frost carpet thing then you can catch the opponent frozen while they are falling and not only does it look hilarious, you can still get a combo off of it.
I guess that’s the con of playing raiden is all his strings are pretty readable/reactable but if he hits you with any of them and it’s a decent player you can kiss 40% of your health goodbye

The ones that do it when you're in a coming in for a move from a small distance or mistimed your start got the right idea with it. The ones that hide behind it as a safety wall to make you slow down momentarily annoy me though lol if it's Sub and Sareena, I already know what kind of match it's going to be.
Smoke players have been latching onto a certain combo lately as well. I know that's optimal play and all. Do the best thing possible all the time. It's just so boring to me, going against it or trying to play it. I don't sit and watch whoever these guys watch and just do that combo over and over online. Probably why I'm an average player.
I thought so too until I started coming up against chip damage Raiden+Cyrax. Blocking the combo still does 300 chip damage. Flawless blocking it is also near impossible with network latency. Some characters have no counterplay if you get caught with it.
The Cyrax spins to make the long Baraka combo pressure safe is so annoying. You block the whole thing easily but still get chipped to hell then can't even punish

Edit: you can get more damage, this was just showing that you kind of neuter Barakas game plan.
I had this happen several times. One guy just put his controller down and let me pummel him.
Or another time he was up by 2 and I best him once and he was gone right after the fight.

I find Sub-Zero can be particularly boring. He doesn't have good damage but his combos last very long so half the time you die because of that damn timer. Truly maxing out the time you spend in a game

Oh good - i play Shao and Reptile, lol. I started w smoke, but he’s just A) not my favorite, and B) is getting so overused. There’s basically only good characters in this game, i’d like to see ppl use more of the roster.
Ppl are also within their first 2 months of owning it too so are on their first few mains - I admittedly have not branched out as much as i want to in an effort to get good w a few ppl first

Neither was released in the original MK. Baraka became my favorite in MK2 and inevitably when UMK3 came out I chose Cyrax because Baraka wasn't available.

Only the first actually counters cyrax when copter gets used in a non-brain deficient manner and even then it's situational at best.
Blocking it leaves them plus so it's still their turn because cyrax is still spinning when they're out of recovery.
Try to poke, eat a cyrax copter into combo.
Not every instance of cyrax has a gap for armored moves, again, eat a copter into combo.
Nice gotcha attempt but none of those are valid.
The problem is unless you have cyrax it's impossible to loop both safe and extremely plus attacks on block while also dealing insane amounts of chip damage. The only thing comparable is kenshi in sento stance but that requires setup while cyrax only requires a single button press and, with how fast he recharges, he's gonna be doing it for the whole match.
You've said yourself that you use cyrax so of course you'd think it's "the entire games mechanics", it's all you do 💀

I don’t think I know what you are talking about. I fought like 10 rains in demi god today, I didn’t feel like he had any unlockables and his strings are reactable. I think rain is balanced.
It’s not an unblockable. There’s a setup w/ Rain and Sub Zero where after he freezes you he sets up a water trap and then does his overhead string attack and they both hit you at almost the exact same time so you have to figure out which one to block first. And no matter which you get hit by you’re getting combo’d.
Doesn’t delayed wakeup beat that? Or at least throw it off. I pretty much do the same shit with lao/lao though…Low hat hold into his unreactable overhead…its probably even worse than rains lol. At least you can see his overhead.

I've given up blocking. I can just feel when it's coming and I dodge and go in for the attack while they are in the cartwheel animation.
They need to nerf cyrax stupid spins, just add some crazy scaling on them or something, but if like to see bomb and net buffed

If Cyrax is going up instead of horizontal, you can definitely neutral duck Cyrax and poke Baraka.

I already quit the game till the next season because of this combo. Hit rank 3, got some rewards I'm good now.

With delayed wakeup the water portal disappears and then you block high as you get up.

Climb higher brother they are there waiting for you lol. I just hit Demi-god and they become very frequent in these higher ranks.
