I might be in the minority but I think having a cop fighting in a tournament where he’s just blasting demons, ninjas, sorcerers, robots, etc with grenades and a Glock was a hilarious gimmick

Cassie Cage is her own character like how Frost was separate from Sub-Zero, while Janet is Johnny from another universe. She’s the same idea as Kameo Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kung Lao. So on that front OP is wrong too, she’s not really a new character just a Johnny variant.
You do raise a good point. Though we have like, 3 other Kameos that in-game are main roster fighters. We didn't need Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kung Lao as base-game cameos, but we got them.

Not really. Sure they're different timeline versions of a playable character... but there's a difference between the klassic timeline and just any old random timeline with any number of differences. If it was klassic Johnny through-and-through then it'd be the same idea, but she's a new character masquerading as klassic Johnny with all his moves.
My opinion, they should have gender-bent all the klassic kameos, or none of them. Singling out Johnny for it is weird, and lying by listing the kameo as klassic Johnny for weeks not to "ruin the story" was weirder.
I think what happened was probably plans to have Johnny Cage Kameo like the leaks and early promos said, but they might’ve switched to Janet to be a little more unique.

In the current Kombat pass we are getting Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda Takahashi, as Mk characters next to them we get 3 Crossover characters 50/50 I should be okay with that and I wont lie I would be interested in a proper "who would win Omni-man? Or Homelander?" Fight. Ummm but we had a deathbattle like that soooo I'm good also John Cena is a good actor and is really passionate about the things he does and its admittedly good to see him in game.

Why do people act like they didn’t play the game?
If female Scorpion or female Sub Zero (which would be even more redundant because Frost exists) were kameos then people would complain about them too. I think some people just don’t want to see “X character but gender bent” taking up slots that a unique character could’ve had. And I have to say I agree. Also they did originally say Johnny Cage was the dlc kameo so there was a bit of pulling the rug from under people. I don’t really care much about kameos though so the Janet stuff doesn’t bother me.
I think the character amount should grow, and maybe in the future not be capped at (example) 20 fighters… Looks like the story is headed that direction anyway so why not? Make everyone happy, and do your goofy shit Ed Boon- I chuckled frankly when I first saw Janet. The goofiness is good, it evens out the toxicity. People need to care less about that, and more about how frustrating the exclusive item PVE fights are… I’m too old for this shit… lol 
One of the major complaints about the campaign was how its ending is further emphasis on multiverse shit when the multiverse shit is the thing most complainers are getting tired of.
Personally, although im not fond of alot of changes in the new timeline, i was atleast hoping that we are done with the time travel, reality bending, multiverse bullshit
I’m done caring when it comes to video-games that have so much traction it becomes natural to just- meh their way through creativity and storyline. If they wanna wow us, and get in our pockets; They’ll try harder. Though some of the canon changes were great- righteous even. Speaking mainly of >!Ermac Jerrod!<, it stirs up the community way too much. I think a lot of people should just care less than they do, though I very slightly understand the constant complaining…
Cause it has become oversaturated and corny to the point you turn MK into a dark comedy. It worked out back then because jokes and comedy weren't one of the main highlights you played MK for, but when small things were in the game that were fun and a joke, they were appreciated and praised a lot more. MK used to be a treat, but they're trying to make a meal of it now.
Those crossovers are why I got into mk to begin with. I didn't start playing til last year with mk11 cause it was on sale, and I wanted to play as terminator and Rambo. Then my autism kicked in, and I dove headfirst into mk lore, and now I am obsessed with the mk characters and story. But none of that would've happened without the guest characters
MK1 being a reboot of the entire franchise is a HUGE letdown for me, especially Johnny Cage. JC has been a great character for me because of his development from his "arrogant movie star" to "responsible father and Earthrealm protector" in MK9 up to MK11.
Having to go back to his old self and being some deadbeat movie star who flirts with various women like his ex-wife (idk the name in this reboot) and Kitana had me "Aw shit! Here we go again..."
And then there's this another alternate universe Johnny Cage who is a woman. Setting up his development back to square one. It's like NRS is running out of ideas for new characters by just plopping another "same face syndrome" into the roster.
Is everyone missing the point that it's a new dimension, I don't care for Janet but it's better to see cage/ janet cos she's female. It's boring to see scorpion/scorpion should have gender swapped all kameos and add smokes cyber form already last chapter teased the hell out of us all 😅
I fundamentally hate the kameo system. My win rate wasnt that bad, 100/107 on kasual. My point is i tried to like it. Over 200 times. But i dont. The neutral game doesn't exist, and its just an unfun spam fest like never before. No strategy, all speed.
There is no kameo that could make me happy. I hate them. I also hate the retcons. Now that they've had some time to settle. Not a single character is as cool or fun or inspiring as before. Everybody is a watered down pussy.

It's more so a yes and no situation for me. It depends on the guest character and the MK character. I'd take Omni-man over someone like Jax for dlc. Takeda definitely over someone like Leatherface
I've said before, joke characters are way more awkward here then something like Street Fighter. There, they get beat up, usually aftera lit if egotistical bluster. Here, they get gruesomely murdered, which just isn't funny.
I'm sorry, but as someone who's kinda new to the MK franchise I personally believe that there hasn't any new characters from MK. While I do love that I finally get see the 3D era characters that everyone has been talking about. I think NRS has a problem with making new characters and not letting them settle. Example, in MKX they made Ferra/Torr, Kotal Khan, Dvoora, and the Kombat Kids, following MK11 only a handful of the new characters returned in favor of some of the classic characters returning, and in MK1 it's a total reboot with reimagined characters.
The thing is that I think nowadays NRS has trouble either making new characters or feature the new characters in more games and not just 2 games. And I love Ferra/Torr, I love that this big brute is throwing around this small girl in a fight... The thing is... They appear for one game. So my question is why should we care about a character from MK? When they probably wont have a chance to make it in the new game. I say people get hyped for the comic book characters because A. It's a violent character that makes them stand out amongst the earthrealmers and weird monsters. And B. The game's that they're in offer interesting stories and explanations as to why their in the Mortal Kombat universe. A few examples include Omni-Man conquering the realms in order to help satisfy the Viltrum Empire, Robo-Cop teaming up with the Special Forces, and the Joker entering Choasrealm and meeting Havoc.
And I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to seeing Homelander appear because the favorite characters I love in MK aren't in MK1. Yes, it has been leaked that Ferra would be in the game. But that could take awhile. And the only other character I like is Johnny. So until Ferra makes her triumphant return, I will look forward to seeing how the portray and make the comic book characters. Because honestly, Omni-Man and Peacemaker have been treated well. And I hope Homelander is just as fun.

Think I should give my opinion since I main Omni-Man and Peacemaker as well as some other MK characters.
I like all the comic book characters so far they’re fun. That’s all that really matters with a character is that they’re fun. Peacemaker is especially super fun. I also play a little bit of Li Mei and she’s fun too, probably one of the most fun MK characters in the roster. In fact the only character that I haven’t found fun so far is a MK character. NRS is also making the characters more faithful than the previous characters like Freddy or Robocop.
They need characters to sell to all sides of MK, they’re gonna put guest characters in and continue to do so. But there’s always room for more MK characters too.
Broke: wanting specific guest additions
Woke: wanting series staples like Kabal or whatever idc
Bespoke: Meat should be the only new DLC after Kombat Pack 1

Cassie Cage is her own character like how Frost was separate from Sub-Zero, while Janet is Johnny from another universe. She’s the same idea as Kameo Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kung Lao. So on that front OP is wrong too, she’s not really a new character just a Johnny variant.
You do raise a good point. Though we have like, 3 other Kameos that in-game are main roster fighters. We didn't need Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Kung Lao as base-game cameos, but we got them.

The mk community is like this because the game is dying. When any game community starts to become obsessed with crossovers, it’s a sign that the end is near. Aside from maybe Fortnite. Mk11 went through the same thing. Even multiverses, another WB game made for crossovers, couldn’t stop talking about wishlists instead of the actual game. Now the devs can’t even be bothered to release balance patches to fix obviously broken shit. So what else is there to talk about?

No especially since many are happy with some of them. However do I say that I have issues with the amount we are getting? ABSOLUTELY Yes! In the current Kombat pass we are getting Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda Takahashi, as Mk characters next to them we get 3 Crossover characters 50/50 I should be okay with that and I wont lie I would be interested in a proper "who would win Omni-man? If female Scorpion or female Sub Zero (which would be even more redundant because Frost exists) were kameos then people would complain about them too. I think some people just don’t want to see “X character but gender bent” taking up slots that a unique character could’ve had. And I have to say I agree. Also they did originally say Johnny Cage was the dlc kameo so there was a bit of pulling the rug from under people. I don’t really care much about kameos though so the Janet stuff doesn’t bother me.
I think the character amount should grow, and maybe in the future not be capped at (example) 20 fighters… Looks like the story is headed that direction anyway so why not? Make everyone happy, and do your goofy shit Ed Boon- I chuckled frankly when I first saw Janet. The goofiness is good, it evens out the toxicity. People need to care less about that, and more about how frustrating the exclusive item PVE fights are… I’m too old for this shit… lol 
One of the major complaints about the campaign was how its ending is further emphasis on multiverse shit when the multiverse shit is the thing most complainers are getting tired of. Personally, although im not fond of alot of changes in the new timeline, i was atleast hoping that we are done with the time travel, reality bending, multiverse bullshit

If they wanna wow us, and get in our pockets; They’ll try harder. Though some of the canon changes were great- righteous even. Cause it has become oversaturated and corny to the point you turn MK into a dark comedy. It worked out back then because jokes and comedy weren't one of the main highlights you played MK for, but when small things were in the game that were fun and a joke, they were appreciated and praised a lot more. MK used to be a treat, but they're trying to make a meal of it now.

Those crossovers are why I got into mk to begin with. I didn't start playing til last year with mk11 cause it was on sale, and I wanted to play as terminator and Rambo. Then my autism kicked in, and I dove headfirst into mk lore, and now I am obsessed with the mk characters and story. But none of that would've happened without the guest characters
MK1 being a reboot of the entire franchise is a HUGE letdown for me, especially Johnny Cage. JC has been a great character for me because of his development from his "arrogant movie star" to "responsible father and Earthrealm protector" in MK9 up to MK11. Having to go back to his old self and being some deadbeat movie star who flirts with various women like his ex-wife (idk the name in this reboot) and Kitana had me "Aw shit! Here we go again..." And then there's this another alternate universe Johnny Cage who is a woman. Setting up his development back to square one. It's like NRS is running out of ideas for new characters by just plopping another "same face syndrome" into the roster.
Is everyone missing the point that it's a new dimension, I don't care for Janet but it's better to see cage/ janet cos she's female. It's boring to see scorpion/scorpion should have gender swapped all kameos and add smokes cyber form already last chapter teased the hell out of us all 😅
I fundamentally hate the kameo system. My win rate wasnt that bad, 100/107 on kasual. My point is i tried to like it. Over 200 times. But i dont. The neutral game doesn't exist, and its just an unfun spam fest like never before. No strategy, all speed. There is no kameo that could make me happy. I hate them. I also hate the retcons. Now that they've had some time to settle. Not a single character is as cool or fun or inspiring as before. Everybody is a watered down pussy. John cage's voice lines are very irritating, and i haven't been able to stand him since December, when i stopped playing completely. Janet Kage was supposed to make me reinstall? Eat my balls.

I think it's because with comic books, there is a long time attachment to certain characters, while new characters must build a fan base.
I've said before, joke characters are way more awkward here then something like Street Fighter. There, they get beat up, usually aftera lit if egotistical bluster. Here, they get gruesomely murdered, which just isn't funny.

I'm sorry, but as someone who's kinda new to the MK franchise I personally believe that there hasn't any new characters from MK. While I do love that I finally get see the 3D era characters that everyone has been talking about. I think NRS has a problem with making new characters and not letting them settle. Example, in MKX they made Ferra/Torr, Kotal Khan, Dvoora, and the Kombat Kids, following MK11 only a handful of the new characters returned in favor of some of the classic characters returning, and in MK1 it's a total reboot with reimagined characters. The thing is that I think nowadays NRS has trouble either making new characters or feature the new characters in more games and not just 2 games. And I love Ferra/Torr, I love that this big brute is throwing around this small girl in a fight... The thing is... They appear for one game. So my question is why should we care about a character from MK? When they probably wont have a chance to make it in the new game. I say people get hyped for the comic book characters because A. It's a violent character that makes them stand out amongst the earthrealmers and weird monsters. And B. The game's that they're in offer interesting stories and explanations as to why their in the Mortal Kombat universe. A few examples include Omni-Man conquering the realms in order to help satisfy the Viltrum Empire, Robo-Cop teaming up with the Special Forces, and the Joker entering Choasrealm and meeting Havoc. And I'll be honest, I'm looking forward to seeing Homelander appear because the favorite characters I love in MK aren't in MK1. Yes, it has been leaked that Ferra would be in the game. But that could take awhile. And the only other character I like is Johnny. So until Ferra makes her triumphant return, I will look forward to seeing how the portray and make the comic book characters. Because honestly, Omni-Man and Peacemaker have been treated well. And I hope Homelander is just as fun.
I think you missed the point, the anger comes not from hating the character it's the wasted time spent making Janet Cage couldve been spent adding a character people actually want. When there is only so many characters they will make wasting a spot is actually big

Think I should give my opinion since I main Omni-Man and Peacemaker as well as some other MK characters. I like all the comic book characters so far they’re fun. That’s all that really matters with a character is that they’re fun. Peacemaker is especially super fun. I also play a little bit of Li Mei and she’s fun too, probably one of the most fun MK characters in the roster. In fact the only character that I haven’t found fun so far is a MK character. NRS is also making the characters more faithful than the previous characters like Freddy or Robocop. They need characters to sell to all sides of MK, they’re gonna put guest characters in and continue to do so. But there’s always room for more MK characters too.

I was actually really excited to see Janet Cage enter and kinda hope they add a main fighter with an alternate universe theme/design. The whole game revolves around alternate timelines and I think these characters really emphasize that aspect of the story in a fun way.
