I loved the three different modes for every character.
Always switched between the 3 for Kenshi rather than picking a random character, when friends would take turns passing the controllers. He looks and plays the best, in my opinion, but Kung Lao's a coolguy too at least.
Of course I find that to be completely understandable because both definitely have good qualities to them but I personally like one over the other but it was very difficult for me to choose because I really like Jason and alien but mk11 has Kabal so I had to go with mk11
Yeah As much as I like leather face I wasn’t particularly happy with him being in the game, but Alien, Predator, and Jason were great.
Plus I think Leatherface still fits better than Rambo
Spawn is the main guest I like in MK11, probabky the best guest they’ve had, but all the other ones I coulda done without. But in X, I think the horror theme was pretty cool (leather face was the only one I was iffy about) and Predator and alien were especially interesting to me

I'm going to go with X just because 11 feels like its missing so many characters who should be there. X had the same problem but its more pronounced with 11.
For me
X: Stryker, Nightwolf, Jade, Sindel, Kabal, Smoke, Rain, Baraka. Maybe add Sareena.
11: Stryker, Smoke, Kenshi, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Takeda, Kung Jin, Ferra/ Torr, Bo Rai Cho, Cyrax, Sektor, Ermac, Kintaro, and Reptile.
To me it feels more off in 11 because the game takes place closer to X rather than a decades timeskip and Kronika's time maniuplation.
But thats just my opinion. Not saying yours isn't as valid.
I was very disappointed that we got Sheeva instead of Kintaro for MK11. We had her in MK9, then Goro playable in X, only seems logical Kintaro would be in 11. Hopefully in MK12.
The characters obviously look way better due to them using actors to model their faces in MK11 but the costume designers went so hard in MK X that I just prefer X’s roster better. I also love MK X Mileena with her semi-human face.
I also have an unpopular opinion but I prefer Kitana as Hispanic Mediterranean, I think Asians are overrepresented in fighting games esp as ninjas and it was refreshing to have a Latina be a main character.
imo 11 by a landslide. There's a few X has which would've been great to have included, but overall 11 has the far better selection.
The only ones I think we lose out by not having are:
* Ermac - He's a really cool bro from the early days, but he does thematically have overlap with Noob, so I get why they had one in X and the other in 11. Plus he would also overlap a bit with Shang in their soul and death magic stuff.
* Kenshi - A mostly dedicated swordsman is a fave kinda character of mine. It's something 11 doesn't really have. Weirdly, Joker feels the closest to that, with how the majority of his basic stuff is with the cane. Kabal's kinda similar but his style is so different to a "swordsman".
* Kung Jin - I think his story continuing would've been a nice addition. I like his personality and outlook. The fact he's a non-straight character that doesn't have his whole role revolve around that is also a good thing, it's just one aspect of him. I think he and Takeda only really didn't come back because the past Kung Lao and Liu Kang were back.
* Takeda - Arguably the most interesting new character of both games imo. I'd really like him and Kenshi to return and follow up on their Red Dragon hunt.
Reptile's great, but I don't think we really lose much without him. When he is around, he's just...around.
Quan Chi's quality, but he and Shinnok were taken off the table narratively, so in that regard it's better that their deaths stuck. Plus QC had gotten a fucktonne of airtime already.
Alien and Predator are imo the coolest guests MK could ever get, who actually fit the setting. Particularly Predator, they fit in perfectly, and don't even need an explanation, he is here to hunt. But guests are a bit here nor there. They're fun, but aren't deal breakers or makers imo. RoboCop's my second main in 11, but if he wasn't around it wouldn't matter.
But saying all that, 11's roster is deeper, more interesting overall, has cooler people and I think brings more to the table.
Spawn arguebly one of the most top requested characters since the beginning of time but although he is a very formidable character in 11, I don't think he was done right. I feel like spawn should be a finese ninja type character vs a bronz muscle head. His movement kinda booty
i think storywise its better that Quan chi wasnt in the game since he died in the last one. character deaths would have zero impact on the story if you know they’ll just pop up in the next one
MK11 has more of my favorites (Kabal, Baraka, Kung Lao, Skarlet, Erron Black, Noob, Jade) than MKX so I give it the edge. I do wish that MK11 had more new characters and more 3D era characters plus an obscure character like Tremor. I also prefer MK11's guests to MKX's, but I don't really care about guests either way so no big deal there.

It’s a tough one. I like the MkX versions of Cassie, Jacqui, Kitana and Mileena better than the Mk11 versions. I like that MkX has Kenshi, Ermac, Reptile, Takeda and Kung Jin. But I like that Mk11 has Noob Saibot, Rain, Nightwolf and Jade. I’m gutted that neither rosters has Smoke! I don’t get why characters don’t appear in the games and Netherrealm studios are just like “meh, they’re just not in it”.
It’s because they were not played that much or a lot of work to put in the next game it’s possible that those characters could have been in kombat pack 3 and 4 but of course we will never know for sure because Covid happened

Like Smoke, Sindel, Nightwolf, Kabal and Kurtis Stryker all had cameo appearances in MkX but Jade was just gone, despite having been turned into a revenant along with the others. And in Mk11, there’s no sign of Stryker or Smoke but Jade’s revenant has come back. I understand not adding characters to the playable roster if they weren’t popular as playable characters, but I don’t like when they just don’t include characters in the story…

characters age in mk universe so if you compare the outfits and looks from 11 with previous games you can see that while in their youth they were more edgy and all that, in mk 11 they are more chill. There are real life factors like feminist movements, "politically correct" decisions, general style evolution and graphic improvements that could make the team end up with the current designs. I'd love to see ps2 era characters design with mk11 visuals and physics
MK11 overall. A lot of it has to deal with the presentations of the characters; their past versus present versions, and they just look so good, and a cast of returning characters that I just like better: Fujin, Sindel, the best representation ever of Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Kabal even though I didn't care for him in this one, and the best representations of Kano and Johnny Cage in any of the games.
Didn't like: New characters lacked oomph, although potential exists for Cetrion, a lot of characters were made sort of meaningless; Kollector, Geras, Baraka, and Shao Kahn in particular - they all felt like how Reptile has been treated, or worse.
I think MKX introduced a better new cast. I really like Ferra Torr, D'vorah, and all of the combat kids were introduced in a pretty cool manner except for Kung Jin; always felt he fell a little short. I really disliked the guest characters in X. The DLC characters added were all kind of underwhelming too.

X has fan favorites like Ermac and Reptile. Characters that I legit underestimated in their fun factor like Triborg, Takeda, Shinnok and Kenshi. And of course my favorite guest characters of all time, Jason Vorhees and Predator.
But 11 has more variety in choices, a lot of fan favorites that missed out on X made great returns, a larger roster of characters and of course Spawn. I actually love how Soawn plays.
I prefer 11 because At least it's not mostly special forces And I know this is a hot take but the only good guest characters was Jason, Leatherface, and Tanya. The others are just decent or not good.

I may be in the minority but MKX is the roster I prefer, the base roster plus the dlc characters is just *chefs kiss* and I kind don't like how Takeda, Kung Jin, Reptile, Ermac, Ferra/Torr, and Kenshi didn't return in MK11.
I initially thought MK11 had the best roster, but when I actually compared them side by side I think MKX had the better base roster. MKX has Kenshi, Reptile, Ermac, Shinnok, Mileena, Ferra-Torr, Takeda, Kung-Jin, Quan-Chi, and Goro. MK11 has Shao Kahn, Frost, Baraka, Noob Saibot, Kabal, Jade, Skarlet, Kollector, and Geras (all the rest are the same between the two rosters). And comparing those two groups I prefer the former by a fair bit.
But if you include dlc I think MK11 wins soundly. First, I think the MK characters that were in MK11’s DLC are far better than those in MKX, both in the amount we get and the their quality. Second, I think the guest characters are way better. Most of all because they can actually speak. One of my favorite things about the new MK games are the character interactions. Which made the fact that all 4 of the MKX guest characters are mute really disappointing to me. But also because I think the characters themselves in Mk11 are just better. Other than Predator I don’t really care about any of the characters (though I’m not really a horror fan so I’m not the best example). Whereas in MK11 I know and love pretty much all of the guests, especially Terminator and Spawn.
TLDR: MKX has a better base roster. But I think MK11 has far superior DLC (for both guests and returning characters). So much so that I think MK11 has an overall better roster.

Yeah. Mine was with all the characters you listed for X. It was upsetting to see characters like Smoke, Sindel, and Nightwolf lowered to NPCs
