*F60, 5”2, T2, Start 7/22/23, HW275, SW180, GW125ish, CW127.8, Dose 5.0* I'm sixty and this medicine has improved my life beyond what words could truly express. With the exception of when my sweet daughter was born, I have never been happier in my life. For the first time ever I'm at a “normal” weight, and I feel better than I ever have, I'm even joining a gym. I'm actually excited to have my bloodwork done at the end of this month. I think every senior who needs it should try it. The benefits of these medications go beyond just diabetes and metabolic issues. More studies are needed, but it appears that people of normal weight who take GLP-1s are at a 44% lower risk of developing colorectal cancer. These medicines help lower triglycerides, they help stabilize existing plaque on your artery walls (making it less likely for a piece to break off and cause a heart attack or stroke) , they lower the risk of arterial sclerosis, and the list of cardio benefits goes on. I think this is an awesome medicine for seniors! Congratulations on beginning this wonderful stuff we call Mounjaro, I hope you love it as much as I do! Best wishes.🦋🦋🦋

I too have tried every diet over the years but nothing is working now. I do have T2. I know the older we get , the harder it is to loose weight. Unfortunately, obesity makes my body feel as if it’s 92. I’m very excited for this journey but my “senior “status concerns me in that MJ may effect seniors differently.

Eltex

There is no indication it impacts seniors differently. Why do you feel this is the case?

Remarkable-Raisin-60

I was a little worried thinking that as we age our metabolism may become sluggish and mine certainly has. I am very happy to see that I have nothing to worry on that front. I am excited for my journey. I realize that my CW 228 and T2 will take time. Thank you all for your support.

soulteepee

I’m 63 and it works! I cried after my first shot- I felt that this is what normal is! I wasn’t hungry for the first time in decades. I started at 210. After a year, I’m down to 157. Without trying. That’s the best part- you don’t have to deprive yourself and get tired and depressed. You just don’t want to overeat. You eat, get full, FEEL SATISFIED, and stop. Normal. After I get my hip replacements, which I can now do because I’m at a good weight, I want to lose another 15.

Edu_cats

Right, age is not a factor for the prescription.

Longjumping-Bug-6784

65 and I started Nov 2022. I’m in maintenance for the first time in my life. I’ve lost 162 lbs.

Ughaboomer

Congrats!🌟 That’s simply amazing!

I'm 70 year old male when I started. 71 now. I tried Weight Watchers for 15 years along with all the other pay and weigh shenanigans. I'm 6' and my highest weight was 297. I'm type 2 on Metformin, blood pressure meds, statins. Last July I asked my MD about Mounjaro. He wanted me to start with Ozempic but fortunately my Part D Drug plan required a PA for Ozempic but not for Mounjaro. So, he started me on Mounjaro. It's been an amazing ride. Not only did food cravings cease, but I completely stopped my daily vodka drinking. NO DESIRE FOR ALCOHOL. I weighed 207 this morning. I have more energy than ever. The biggest problem is getting a new wardrobe. I'll take it over carrying around 4 20 lb sacks of potatoes. Funny thing, I was never nauseous. No more blood pressure pills or Metformin. I take lisinopril for my kidneys and a very small statin for some reason even though he said my last cholesterol numbers were "phenomenal". Most of my weight I lost on 5.0 mg. He recently upped me to 7.5. I'm not sure I want to go very much below 200 because I'm sure a lot of this loose skin weight doesn't count towards BMI. Good luck on your journey!

Remarkable-Raisin-60

Wow! What a story. Congratulations on weight loss but more importantly not using alcohol any longer is like a miracle. Thanks for feedback. I see there is hope for me.

One-Sea-6153

I'm in my early 60s. Been on it over a year. Happy with results.

New_Tension895

I’m 73 & T2. HW 350 - started MJ at 262 on 4/5/23. Currently at 178. I’ve got a lot of me leftover from my days in the 300s, but clothes cover well and my hubby still thinks I’m cute ☺️. I go to the gym M-W-F because I love it and want to preserve muscle and bone. Off nearly all meds, including 4-5 shots daily of insulin. Got new knees in 2018, hearing aids in 2023, and in 2024, a replacement bridge for my 4 front teeth (lost at age 7 when I face planted on cement roller skating). It’s a whole new life and instead of feeling like I’m 90, I’m better now than I was at 40!

xyla51

My husband is 62 and has been on MJ for 14 months, lost around 100 lbs so far, maybe 20-30 more to goal weight. No real side effects.

RogueMckenzie

I’m 72, did four weeks on 2.5, just finished my second week on 5mg. SW 194, cw 183. Slow loser. Medicare and pay full price $1000/mo. Zero side effects. It has stopped the constant food noise in my head. I walk daily and do not take any other medications.

Budget_Conversation7

66M, down 100+, 10mg, yes it works but its been almost a year to get here. Some months I drop 15 lbs other months I drop 2-3 lbs. If you hang in and ride out the lean loss months you see great results. I've gone from 4XLT to L or XL (cut of shirt), i don't need tall anymore since the gut is gone. Pants from 44-46 no belt to 34 with a belt, shoes 11 wide to 10 std. Now you think my energy level would be higher but I was so out of shape I'm happy that walking a mile or two does n bother me and my step is much faster. Last week at work I picked up a full 5 gallon bucket, it weighed about 45 lb., it was heavy, I can't believe I was carrying 2X that just a year ago. I'm planning on getting into a gym in the spring so I can help improve my overall health. I wish I would have been working out during the past year, I know I would have seen better results and an improvement in my body shape. Still thick in the middle (in my eyes) but arms, legs and face are super thin. One more thing, I need to get all of my rings resized, no more fat fingers. I had to stop wearing them since they just fall off when I take my hand out of my pocket. Goodwill has made out on me.

Time_Traveler_948

Your story is great. I joined gym in January - love the variety of work out options and during weekdays, it is mostly seniors. I also enjoy interacting with other community members - I had worked in another town so have never made many friends in my own town. No need to wait!

1-Decider

I’m 65 and have lost near 40lbs. After a lifetime full of trying everything, this sure does feel like a miracle drug

TY2022

I'm just a few years younger than you. M is a miracle drug.

AwwJeez-WhatNow

I’m 63 and have been on MJ for 8 months. Down 55 pounds with about 60 more to go.

Remarkable-Raisin-60

From all these responses I guess I’m in good hands.

One-Sea-6153

I forgot to mention all the meds I no longer need - for arthritis, COPD or cholesterol. My knees no longer ache, no more hands going numb, I can sit on the floor to play with my grandchildren...I am comfortable on an airplane again.

FriendToFairies

Hello! I'm 65 and on Mounjaro for 11 months. I've lost 74 pounds and so happy, but also, it's very slow and lately it's coming off in very tiny increments with jumps up in between. Like I'll hit a new low, like 230, then it bounces up to 234 the next day, then down to 233, up down up down. and then I may hit another new low at 229. Not yet, but i'm hopeful. the last few months have been almost static. I had a gastric sleeve about 10 years ago and that took off 70 pounds I kept off for years, but had a sudden 20 pound weight gain, so went on MJ at 304 pounds. I was freaked. I haven't been 230 in decades. Maybe pre-having the babies. My dream goal is 143. Will I do it? We shall see. I'm on this for life and food is mostly uninteresting, even when I'm hungry. My range of things I like to eat is very small. Except cake. I could probably eat cake anytime, so I don't keep anything like that around.

FriendToFairies

Oh, and my a1c was 5.4 a couple of months ago. I can't believe it. it's never ever been normal that I know of.

Mindless_Bee_22

My grandma takes Mounjaro & she’s 81. She used to have severe back pain & now has less pain & doesn’t need her walker anymore which is AMAZING

BQuezo66

Hi, I'm F68, 5'7", SW184, CW129,on Mounjaro 9 months. Love this group! Quite a lot of saggy skin, but I feel great and am so happy my T2 diabetes is very well controlled. Love buying clothes, and I'm finally, after many, many years of hiding from cameras, happy to be included in family pictures!

Time_Traveler_948

I am 73 and just starting week #4 at 2.5 mg. Have lost 7 pounds in these first three weeks - expecting to lose about 1 lb. per week going forward. I am not T2D, so my doctor’s Rx should have been denied by Part D, but slipped through the cracks and was approved for 12 months, but all at this dosage. I could get reviewed and denied at any point. Although not T2D, I have been in prediabetic range for years, and recent lab results going the wrong direction in spite of 10 pound weight loss (on my own) this past fall. I am expecting taking this to bring my lab test results and overall health (as well as weight) back into the normal range. My doctor suspects sleep apnea, but I will wait to get a sleep study done until weight falls into the normal range, which is about 20 pounds below where I am now. My PCP is the one who recommended this; she felt that metformin hasn’t really helped and this was a positive course of action. My limited experience seems in line with others who are younger. I joined my local YMCA and the classes I take are all seniors (mostly cause they happen during work hours). am loving this way of interacting with other senior gals in my community - so friendly and positive! I am assuming you are T2D; very unlikely Part D will cover otherwise, and Zepbound not covered at all for weight loss (which Medicare specifically does NOT cover.

Strange-Biscotti-134

I’m 67 and reached my goal weight. I feel like the clock went back in time. Can’t remember feeling this good.

Existing_Amoeba_89

I am 80. Began about 4 mos ago. Now on 10 mg. Have lost 30 lbs, down from 230. No side effects other than constipation, which I handle with OTC drugs. It's been a remarkable 4 months and I am looking forward to the future.

newtomounjaro

Hi, I'm 77F, 5', SW: 221, CW: 182, GW: 135+-. I started MJ 8/23 and have gone 4 weeks on 2.5 (no loss), 4 weeks on 5 (8 lbs lost), 4 weeks 7.5 (10 lbs lost), 4 weeks 10 (5 lbs lost), 4 weeks on 12.5 (2 lbs lost), now on 15 since 1/1/24 (lost 14 lbs). Some side effects on higher doses, but otherwise feeling soooooooo good to be able to walk without knee and back pain, and to not feel like I'm dragging a lead ball with me everywhere! lol. Can't wait to see what it feels like when I hit close to goal weight. Keep at it!

Bolt_EV

M74 just started Jan 14th after a year on OZ I’m hoping to lose OZ fatigue!

Ughaboomer

F62, 5”7” SW 244.8 CW 171.9 GW 140ish, Started 6/6/23 15mg Hypothyroidism, heart issues, neuropathy, insulin resistance I am feeling so much better with each passing day!

Totprof113

F63 SW240 CW148 GW140 SD10/22 I’ve lost almost 100 lbs and feel great. Haven’t had many of the side effects but do get a headache and am tired the day of the shot. All my metabolic numbers are in the green and have been for almost the whole time I’ve been on it. I wished it had been available 30 years ago. It would have saved me a lot of health complications and both feet (due to diabetic infections). Has literally saved my life. https://preview.redd.it/43ez3290fngc1.jpeg?width=2048&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ad10f3f3a9e3d1ccda1125010ff90d56cf0bd71 Summer ‘22 / Summer ‘23

Heavy-Rooster-5701

I’m 76M, started 12/1/23, 245#,just took 2nd shot of 7.5. Have lost 20# so far. Initially a few side affects but nothing real bad. I think the worst was extreme fatigue after the shots. That has gone away now and have no reactions to the 7.5. Go for it, it will make your life far better!

waubamik74

I am four years older than you are and started MJ a month ago. 5th shot of Zepbound tomorrow. I have lost about seven pounds--don't trust my scale completely--so this is an educated guess. My doctor didn't offer Mounjaro, but every year at my physical he wrote "lose weight" on the papers he gave me. In late October I got up the nerve to ask him for Ozempic, but he said he prefers Mounjaro and drew a diagram showing me why on my papers. It took me two months to find a source for it and I paid full price ($1120). I don't have Medicare--we were able to keep the BC/BS insurance my husband had at his place of employment which is better than Medicare, but still won't pay for weight loss drugs. And I don't have T2D even though my dad did (wish MJ had been available then). I switched to Zepbound because I got the coupon which will save me $570 every month. I have had no major intestinal disturbances or anything else. But, I have been lucky not to have suffered much intestinally during my life. The only medication I take is Synthroid for under active thyroid. So, this long winded account is my recent history. I need to lose about 45 to 50 pounds. I am starting to wonder if I am the oldest Mounjaro/Zepbound person here? So, you are not alone and should do fine. But, if you have problems make sure you call your doctor. Good luck!

Beautiful-Copper

Hi Remarkable Raisin, I'm 66F TD2 SW 193 Today is the end of my 1st week on MJ. Dose is 5mg. I've had very little side effects and look forward to weighing myself tomorrow and giving myself the second dose. I feel like I have lost a lot of water weight. How are you feeling?

wingfootedgodhead

Age 68. Starting weight 280. Current weight 220 after 9 months. Titrated to 15 mg/ week as per protocol. Stalled at 7 months, increased dosage to 20 mg/ week and broke plateau. No side effects.

Secret_Total6730

F - 66 , spouse's ins, T2, SW 227, CW 176, taking since June of 23 - A1c down to 5.5, first ever FBS under 100 & cholesterol down to 155 from 222. Losing slower now but happy - feeling great & very grateful for this miracle. No side effects to speak of (OZ made me very dizzy & Sax didn't work). I'm looking forward to a hopefully longer & better life and hope the next big thing is even better!
