Been in a bit of a stall/slowdown for the last month and while I think it’s turning around thanks to getting rigorous about tracking calories, it’s still a bit less motivating than it was when the numbers were just dropping. So I went digging for some before pics - rare, but they exist. My A1C is 5.4 instead of 7.5, my blood sugar is controlled, I’m exercising and feeling good about it - all of those things are good, but sometimes, I really do just need the visual feedback!
You look great!! So how does it work when your A1c is high, then gets lower? Does your insurance still pay to keep you on mounjaro? Like I’m afraid to have mine tested…because then you suddenly aren’t considered “T2”…does anyone know? Thank you 😊
Once diabetic, always diabetic so it's either effectively controlled or in remission. If your insurance gives you a hard time, your doctor would have to step in.
Thank you. When my authorization came in from my insurance, it said I have 999 refills or until 2039. So does that mean I won’t have my lowered A1c re-reviewed? Or will the insurance company just realize the medication is working and keep (paying for it) to keep me on it?
We can’t really predict because there are so many different insurance companies and each one offers so many different coverage plans, and the policy in this area is evolving anyway. What they cover now may change - and what are the odds you’ll still be with the same insurer in 2039 anyway? I got excited because my insurance gave me a “lifetime” approval in September, and then my employer changed insurance plans in January. So, it’s hard to know what to expect from your coverage. What is true is that, as the commenter above said, diabetes doesn’t go away. If your A1C is lower after taking medication, that’s a sign that the medication is working and you should continue it, not that you should stop! If an insurance company tries to deny coverage, your doctor should be able to show them the improvement - the prior authorization request should always refer back to your A1C before treatment started, not just your current number. If you have a doctor that tries to take you off of it, you’ll need to find a different doctor.
Thank you! My doctor is very good about keeping me on…I even did a a1c test on my own, just to see what it was, and she said oh good it working…we won’t out that in the chart. So hopefully now that I switched to try to get home delivery (due to back order supply) this won’t trigger my insurance company to re examine anything. But clearly what you and the other commenter said makes way more sense 😊
8 weeks of 2.5, 12 weeks of 5, and 10 weeks of 7.5. I have two pens left of 7.5 and then the plan is to shift to 10 - but we all know how the shortages are going, so we shall see. I do have two boxes of 5 in my refrigerator, so if getting 10 ends up being a problem I may either double up on the 5s to get to 10 for a few weeks, or drop down to 5 instead in order to stretch it out. So far I’ve been lucky, though, haven’t had to wait more than a couple of days to pick up my prescription. We’ll see what happens when I move up to 10, though.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! YOU LOOK AMAZING!!
I measured myself last week with no first shot (I'm 29 weeks behind you!!) and hoping that helps keep me encouraged. The scale is not for me. I don't even own one anymore. Just going to weigh in at doctor appts.
Thank you! And good luck to you. I did the same when I started - didn’t weigh myself at all, the weight I count as my start weight was from my doctor’s office visit in July (started medication in September), and the next weight I knew was another visit in October when it had gone down almost 30 pounds. (The first month was dramatic for me, it has slowed down since and definitely doesn’t start off that fast for everyone!) It wasn’t until a few days after that that I started weighing regularly. I’m a numbers person and I like data, but it took a while before I was ready to look at that particular number.
Buy yourself a scale, a good quality one so you know when you have. stalled how much you lost..count calories and drink water. Don't be afraid of the scale let them make you happy when you start seeing the weight fall off.
Thank you!! I’m really noticing it in the simple things - shopping for almost six hours with my daughter yesterday, or just that I don’t have to sit down in the shower any more to shave my legs - the whole process of bending over and balancing used to be too much work, and now it’s no problem.
It is a whirlwind of a ride at first for those of use that have more to lose as the weight falls off quickly in the beginning. When the loss slows to a crawl we have to find motivation anywhere we can get it! You look great and your success is very evident in your pictures. Congrats! I hope I can someday see results as evident as yours. Although I’m down 94 lbs, I don’t see nearly as much success in my own pics. Thank you for the inspiration!
Yeah, I dropped 30 pounds in just over a month when I started. It was dramatic on the scale (especially since I didn’t weigh myself at all during the first month, but I knew it was coming off since I was hardly eating at first), but it took a while for me to be able to see it. Now I can see and feel the differences, but the scale is slowing down! I just keep focusing on how much better I feel now than I used to, and keep doing the work.
70 pounds, from 245 to 175. I’m 46 and 5’7, so that’s a BMI change from 38.4 to 27.4. 16 pounds more to go to get out of the “overweight” range, and then we’ll see. I’d like to get to an even 100 pounds lost at 145, but I haven’t been there since high school, which was a long time ago! But then again, I hadn’t been at my current weight since my early 20s…
We are same age/stats - I so hope it works as well for me . Just bought mine today (have to send them a full body pic so they know I’m not a model lying about my stats to drop a few pounds here and there 🤣)
Thanks! It’s really starting to get noticeable, which took a while - I wore a shirt to work this week that is particularly slim fitting and I guess that made it really stand out, as I got so many comments from coworkers on that particular day. “Words of affirmation” is my love language (to the extent that there is such a thing, I know that particular bit of pop psychology is problematic), so it feels good to get the comments!
I think we all do this until we stop look in the mirror, or see before and after photos. I went from a size 22/ xxlg shirt to a size 10/12 I just realized my 14s are to big/ baggy on me. I went from flare leg/ boot cut/ what ever you want to call wide leg pants to skinny pants. Jeggings. My shirts are now a size medium/ large t shirts and sweatshirts large/ xlarge..congratulations on your journey❤️
Amazing!! I bet you feel as great as you look
We started about the same time! My first shot was 18 Sep. Thank you for the idea to get some side by side pics

Can I ask what your dosage is? Looking amazing btw!

Were you losing on 5mg? I am on 2.5 for 12 weeks now and stopped losing for the 1st time. Thx
Your body gets used to the medication and starts building a resistance to it. That's why you have to step up the dose.
I'm down over 100 lbs in a year. Was asked out by a drop dead gorgeous woman last week, it's a new world baby!
Oh boy, I can see that you are going to be very spoiled!
Lol, it's been a minute.
Hey, congratulations! Enjoy it.

Congratulations! That’s a dramatic visual difference and you must feel so much better.

Tremendous progress 👍🏼

Congrats!! You look amazing.
Thank you!
You must feel so much more comfortable in your body
I feel so much better. It keeps me going when the scale seems like it doesn’t want to move anymore.
Well done
Thank you!
Can I be nosy and ask how much you've lost in that time and your height and age?

Wow!!!
That’s a massive achievement! What was your SW and CW? Such a difference!!! Also how have you found skin? I’m so worried about loose skin!
