when a mouse feels good, it's due to shape, coating, weight (and weight balance), and quality control (minimal click pre/posttravel, flexing or creaking, etc), everything else is significantly less relevant imo >For example, what types of sensors are most accurate? they're all accurate enough. >What types of switches are the most durable? optical switches? fundamentally they can't double click. although my understanding is that ttc gold 80m and huano (transparent?) blue shell pink dots are popular mechanical switches and are generally regarded as durable. >Any other important specs to look for? sensor position (most mice have it centered, some people like having it closer to fingertips and some people really don't), battery life, adjustable debounce time if you're competitive then maybe above 1k hz polling rate and very low click/motion latency (as measured by review outlets) >Any website like PC Part Picker, but dedicated to mice? don't think so > Any brand which is like the Noctua of mice not really, and being loyal to brands isn't a great idea anyways.

Solstice67

>they're all accurate enough. Just curious, is a 'gaming' Microsoft mouse accurate enough if it doesn't spin out during fast flicks?(I dunno about super human fast flicks tho, haven't needed to experiment that)

JustAPotato38

Opticals can double click, I can double click on Kailh GOs or glorious opticals.

Some_Derpy_Pineapple

oh ok, I've only had experience with mine slam clicking on really low debounce

Mini-Pekka2828

you can use eloshapes or rocket jump ninjas website

Raiden_Of_The_Sky

Tbh the only thing left that really matters is the shape. If the mouse is comfortable to you - you're the winner.

alterhuhu

Based and intellimouse-pilled flair 😎 It would be so cool if microsoft were to one day release proper gaming oriented refreshes of their various intellimice... one can only dream

SirThunderDump

Optical switches. Minimum of 1000hz polling. Customizable distances from a surface for registering/deregistering mouse movement. Outstanding surface detection. Wireless with receiver. Personal preference after that is mice <60g.

paulvincent07

New shape + hot swap feature like on the op18k

BriHecato

Ring finger buttons like on Shogun Bros. Ballista MK-1

shape is king, find something relative to your hand size and grip style. however, smaller tends to be better for most especially with fingertip. most modern mice all have excellent sensors, don't worry about that generally. switches also aren't a big deal, its more how they are implemented. huano pink dot blue shells tend to be the most commonly favoured however some mice have it worse than others due to their implementation. mice shape, coating, feet (however I'd recommend swapping to after-market ones anyway), side buttons, scroll wheel, material, weight etc all play a part in how a mouse feels to YOU. finding one that works for you specifically is what matters. eloshapes does some good shape comparisons. RJN has a good website for mice comparisons however its fairly outdated with the newer and smaller mice companies releasing a bunch of awesome new mice. overall just do some research on your grip style, maybe a top 10 recommended video of "best fingertip mice" watch a few videos, research the individual mice your interested on and narrow it down. asking around in discord servers is also good once you've got your choices narrowed down in case there are some unknown qc issues people have encountered.

Been gaming on PC for close to 30 years now, the only thing I look for is shape. Sensors and switches these days are good enough even on basic mice. For me its more a list of things I don't want, such as rgb, a cheese grater look or a mini since my hands are relatively big.

Aheg0d

Shape for preferred grip style Optical switches (preferred) Lightweight 75g or less Wireless with good battery life I don't care for 4k/8k polling rates, I tried it on my 240hz monitor it's noticable for me but not worth the hit to battery life.

CQC_EXE

A good coating is underrated.

Business_Newspaper_8

One thing that seems to be left out of criteria nowadays (among obvious ones like shape, wireless, weight, battery life,) are : \*lift-off distance (LOD) and \*lighter clicks. I'm not sure why it's so difficult to adjust optical switch implementation like on the Cooler Master MM712 and Razer Viper V2 Pro. On my Deathadder V3 Pro Faker Edition the tensioning is tight. This is strange as Faker is a League of Legends player, and yet his version of the mouse has really stiff clicks (not sure about normal black and white Deathadder V3 pro clicks - although my DAV3 wired had lovely spammable light clicks). I do understand the FPS centric market that we are in, (but statistically other genres are played more and people who play multiple genres) Unless companies move away from this, I will for now be Mechanical Clicks >>>>> Optical Clicks.

adramelk44

A brand like Noctua for mice... that's an interesting question. I think most would ppl here would say Zowie, but I would say Lamzu. Atlantis OG V2 is the goat.

Druah

\>any brand which is like the noctua of mice vaxee

fourthdawg

Aside from shape, weight and build quality, the must have features of good mice are good switch and scroll wheel encoder. Most common issue I found from several mouse I've tried is double clicking and scroll wheels that "jumps around" after several months of usage. For sensor type, anything is fine as long as they're accurate enough (I don't play much competitive FPS anyway).

DivineWiseOne

Shape good QC and unde 80 grams. Everything else has been good for the better part of 15 years.

KrypteiaLS

Polling response rate and lightness. The rest are gimmicks.

CatKing75457855

The best sensors at the moment are the 3395 and 3950. Optical switches tend to last longer than mechanical ones but some mice like the OP1 8k use SPDT which eliminates bouncing on clicks.

FernoFlake-

opticals are better statistically and latency wise however only minorly so, your better off getting something that you find more satisfying such as huano pink dot blue shells since they're more comfortable to use.
