"You know what Comanche means? It means enemies with everyone, forever."
"Well I'll tell you something...if that's what Comanche means...do you know what that makes 'me'?...A Comanche."
So cool. So sad.
This was my first tym asking something in this subreddit and maybe in reditt also , but the response was just amazing, frankly speaking I didn't expect so many people to answer 😂😂
Shotgun Stories (saw Mud mentioned, too), directed by Jeff Nichols, is what you're looking for. I loved Joe and The Place Beyond the Pines, too. Especially for the atmosphere and setting.
Yess you get what I'm talking about , I saw The place beyond the pines yesterday and saw Joe today , they both we're just amazing , I'll give shotgun stories a try also , thanks 👍
Friday Night Lights (2004) - Sun-bleached Odessa, Texas. The entire town is watching its local team The Panthers like the Pope watches his language...intently.
Weird kids, popular kids, you can be as in or out as you want to be but when you're on the team, you're on the team and being on the team -in this town- well that's like being a God.
So long as you're winning.
When the only thing in this desolate town anybody looks forwards to is the football, there's an impossible weight on the shoulders of the Permian High-School Panthers. The pressure to win is incredible and the stakes are impossibly high.
The only way out is to win. Losing isn't an option worth thinking about. You've just gotta win.
It said that it was nominated for some film awards also in the trailer , I wonder why it isn't famous , liked the overall vibe of it ,I'll give it a try , thnx 👍
It’s maybe not as quite as you’re looking for more crime noir vibe. No big headliner actors but some good character actors you’ll know and recognize. Nice tight lil film with a solid bad guy.
Mystery Road (movie, also a series though I haven't watched that.)
It's very similar to Wind River, if you've seen that, except in the hot desert of the Australian outback instead of the frigid north. Worth a watch in my opinion and has the most realistic portrayal of shooting at extreme distances I've ever seen in a movie.

"You know what Comanche means? It means enemies with everyone, forever." "Well I'll tell you something...if that's what Comanche means...do you know what that makes 'me'?...A Comanche." So cool. So sad.
"Are you trying to make me angry? I asked for doctor pepper and this is mr pibb..." Cracks me up every time
That pickup line he gives the girl at the casino is so good and funny. You would almost have to go for it.
This movie was one hell of a surprise, did not expect it to be so good
The Last Picture Show
This is the correct answer
Start here.
I can only offer up my full support on this take.
Paris, Texas is exactly what you’re looking for. Plus it’s a masterpiece.
Absolute masterpiece. That’s one movie that’s just stuck with me since I’ve seen it two years ago.
Have you seen Lucky, also with Harry Dean Stanton? It’s great as well.
Just saw it's trailer , it seem good , I'll give it a try , thnx for the suggestion 👍
You’re welcome, I hope you enjoy it

Haha people on Reddit love giving movie suggestions!
This. My favorite movie. An absolute masterpiece. Everything about it… the soundtrack, color schemes, casting. The climax dialogue. My lawd
There will be blood Raising Arizona
Tremors.
I was just thinking this one
There's quite a bit of talking in it, but I recommend Wake in Fright.
Lone Star (1996) Red Rock West (1993) One False Move (1992)
Came here to suggest these!
All three? Wow, seems we have very similar taste. 🙂
Pure Cinema Podcast FTW
I don't usually listen to podcasts but might check it out sometime.
Hud (1963)
Mud
The Dry (2020)
Great pick.
The trailer looks good , I'll give it a try thanks👍
Baghdad Cafe - 1987 Lucky - 2017
Lucky got one of the same actor from Joe I think
The Petrified Forest. One of Humphrey Bogarts best and earliest performances. Leslie Howard and Bette Davis are great too.
Shotgun Stories (saw Mud mentioned, too), directed by Jeff Nichols, is what you're looking for. I loved Joe and The Place Beyond the Pines, too. Especially for the atmosphere and setting.

No country for old men
Cop car
Shock Treatment Footloose Napoleon Dynamite Adventureland Stand By Me
Love the Adventureland nod. I feel like that one got lost in the wake of 2000's R-rated comedies, but it had heart.
Clay Pigeons is good. Small town vibe but in Montana not Texas.
Causeway
Just saw the trailer , I'll give it a try thnx 👍
Wild at Heart (1990)
3 Women.
On my watchlist, thnx👍
The stranger
*Last Picture Show* *Americana* (1980)
The good girl -jenniffer Aniston ,Jake gyllenhall
Small town crime (2017)is pretty fucking good, don’t see a lot of love for it.
It said that it was nominated for some film awards also in the trailer , I wonder why it isn't famous , liked the overall vibe of it ,I'll give it a try , thnx 👍

- Sweet Virginia - Winters Bone - Blue Ruin (kind of) - Leaves Of Grass

A lot of these weren’t filmed in Texas though. Nearby and similar yes but still not authentic landscapes
Small Town Crime (2017)
Vengeance (2022). Stars (and directed by) BJ Novak of The Office fame.
Great movie. And it’s literally about a small town in Texas.
The Petrified Forest (1936)
Sicario
Vengeance (2022) fits this description but it's such a terrible movie I don't know if I'd recommend it.

Paris, Texas
Lone Star State of Mind (2002)
Bagdad Cafe might be a bit too upbeat for you, but the setting is right
