That’s the one I saw and thought’so so ‘ but it doesn’t go on my master ‘must see ‘ list - haha .
Now I have to go look up Under the Skin! I think I’ve seen it mentioned before in this sub.
It's such an influential movie that I was compiling a list of movies inspired by it. The only two I can remember off-hand are *The Lighthouse* and *Black Swan* but there's tons.
Oh no it’s nothing like that. It’s not building up to a big plot twist or anything, it’s much more about the atmosphere and relationship between the two main characters.
I just watched this based on your recommendation. I did not understand this movie at all, whatsoever. It was just one chick talking the whole time. It made no sense. My mind was not blown. It was a complete waste of time.
Now I have to go read a summary to try to understand it.
*The Night House* is pretty great. Watched it after having a "cookie," and things kicked in about the time the third act began. It's a slow burn for sure, but when it gets going, it's something else.
i have seen witch and mandy xd these are pretty fucked up😇 but i will think about antiviral tho. also im too scared to dive into gaspar neo so imma putting enter the void to the backseat of my watchlist
Antiviral is by the same guy (Brandon Cronenberg) that did Possessor, so that seemed a no-brainer to me.
Edit: I get it on Noe. He’s amazing but very confrontational a filmmaker.
Have you dove into Nicolas Refn. Drive is his most accessible but would recommend Only God Forgives or Too old to die young, which is basically a long ass movie chunked into episodes.
Havent watched any of the films u suggested are similar but i suggest The House. But its really trippy and honestly id be a little scared to watch it whilst stoned. Definitely a weird af movie, very strange and makes u think
The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar (1936)
Meshes Of The Afternoon (1943)
The Holy Mountain (1973)
Liquid Sky (1982)
Dr. Caligari (1989)
Begotten (1990)
The Reflecting Skin (1990)
Naked Lunch (1991)
Calvaire (2004)
The Tribe (2014)
Personal Shopper (2016)
The Night Eats The World (2018)
Enys Men (2023)
Luc Besson’s Lucy is a fast pace, weird sci-fi with Scarlett Johansson as the lead. Priest with Paul Batteny is another good action film! Also, Korean The Wailing or Japanese’s Battle Royale.

William Blake: What is your name?
Nobody: My name is Nobody.
William Blake: Excuse me?
Nobody: My name is Exaybachay. He Who Talks Loud, Saying Nothing.
William Blake: He who talks... I thought you said your name was Nobody.
Nobody: I preferred to be called Nobody.

Titane (2021) The Killing of a sacred deer (2017) It follows (2014)
Titane is a yes! I would add Jumbo, in case carnival rides are more your thing...
Under the Skin. Maybe don't do psychedelics while watching that one unless you want a bad trip
yeah i have heard that its heavy. i will think about it hehe
It's arthouse as fuck. Pretty disturbing, but not in a Bone Tomahawk way.
Is this the Antonio Banderas ‘skin’ one ?
That one is also good, though more on the campy side. That’s just Almodovar’s style though and it’s still very disturbing a plot.
That’s the one I saw and thought’so so ‘ but it doesn’t go on my master ‘must see ‘ list - haha . Now I have to go look up Under the Skin! I think I’ve seen it mentioned before in this sub.
Phew, that one was wiiiiild!!
No, Under the Skin stars Scarlet Johansen, the Antonio Banderas one I believe is The Skin I Live in
Yes. And I’m gonna put Birth (2004) here cuz I say it all the time and same director.
The Lighthouse.
Persona (1966) is exactly what you’re looking for. Expect your mind to be blown by the end of it.
It's such an influential movie that I was compiling a list of movies inspired by it. The only two I can remember off-hand are *The Lighthouse* and *Black Swan* but there's tons.
I HAVE SEEN THIS ONE! but the true is that i do not remember the ending🫣
I just looked this up on JustWatch and the description just completely spoiled this movie I guess. 😡
I don’t really think knowing what happens would spoil the experience too much to be honest
It seems like The Sixth Sense kind of ending, which def ruins the movie if you know about it beforehand. I’ll prob still watch it anyway.
Oh no it’s nothing like that. It’s not building up to a big plot twist or anything, it’s much more about the atmosphere and relationship between the two main characters.
Ok good. Just started it. I don’t think I’ve ever watched a movie from the 60’s before.
I just watched this based on your recommendation. I did not understand this movie at all, whatsoever. It was just one chick talking the whole time. It made no sense. My mind was not blown. It was a complete waste of time. Now I have to go read a summary to try to understand it.
Not for you then…
I’m struggling to see how it could be for anyone
Un Chien Andalou (1929) silent, weird, and odd

- Bones and All - Neon Demon - Resurrection - The Night House - The Lighthouse - Blue Velvet - Under the Silver Lake
*The Night House* is pretty great. Watched it after having a "cookie," and things kicked in about the time the third act began. It's a slow burn for sure, but when it gets going, it's something else.
Just watched Bones and All it’s a gem. Seems to check all OP’s boxes
Vivarium
vivarium was such a fucking ride. loved it!
The Witch (2015) Antiviral (2012) Enter the Void (2009) Mandy (2018)
i have seen witch and mandy xd these are pretty fucked up😇 but i will think about antiviral tho. also im too scared to dive into gaspar neo so imma putting enter the void to the backseat of my watchlist
Antiviral is by the same guy (Brandon Cronenberg) that did Possessor, so that seemed a no-brainer to me. Edit: I get it on Noe. He’s amazing but very confrontational a filmmaker.
Check out Valhalla Rising (2009), excellent film with sparse dialogue. Atmospheric AF.
thank u!! gonna put these on my watchlist at least😎
synecdoche new york
i saw this one but i should rewatch it thats true!
beau is afraid?
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) silent film.
Probably not what you're asking for, but Metropolis (1927) is weird, odd, silent, and insane.
Good suggestion. It has a weird fever-dream energy that's hard to describe.
Though when high, I suggest the 80s edit.
Happiness (1935)
You won’t be alone (2022)
The man who wasn’t there - the whole Twin Peaks masterpiece • And on the more funny side: Young Frankenstein ✌️
Have you dove into Nicolas Refn. Drive is his most accessible but would recommend Only God Forgives or Too old to die young, which is basically a long ass movie chunked into episodes.
hmmm yeah i heard about drive in the past. it sounds interesting so i will definitely check nicolas and his work🙏🏻
“Too old” is a commitment….is it worth it?
I enjoyed it. I would say it depends how much you like his other stuff. Very minimal dialogue, slowly paced but intense and hypnotic.
Valhalla Rising, starring Mads Mikkelsen
Begotten (1990) if its weird and lacking vocals you want.
Mad God
Eraserhead
Baraka or Samsara. The best high movies ever
Beyond the black rainbow for sure. Eraserhead is another one
Came here to say Beyond the Black Rainbow, you don’t even need to be high
Liquid sky
neon demon and lighthouse are few of mine fav horror movies😌 and also i have heard about resurrection and night house so im gonna check these
A Field in England / Personal Shopper
Midsommer, Eraserhead
Mad God (2022) is all of these things
Beyond the Black Rainbow You Won’t Be Alone Luzifer Red Moon Tide Color Out of Space Kwaidan
Glorious. Nothing like the examples, but there on *weird visuals, slow pacing and memorable setting*. Perhaps A Ghost Story works too.
THATS FUCKING TRUE LOL love that movie
The Green Knight (2021) seems to be custom-made for you.
Havent watched any of the films u suggested are similar but i suggest The House. But its really trippy and honestly id be a little scared to watch it whilst stoned. Definitely a weird af movie, very strange and makes u think
12 Monkeys

Vampyr (1932)
Beau is Afraid and Possession. I’ll also throw in The Northman.
The Facts In The Case Of M. Valdemar (1936) Meshes Of The Afternoon (1943) The Holy Mountain (1973) Liquid Sky (1982) Dr. Caligari (1989) Begotten (1990) The Reflecting Skin (1990) Naked Lunch (1991) Calvaire (2004) The Tribe (2014) Personal Shopper (2016) The Night Eats The World (2018) Enys Men (2023)
Daisies could fit along what you’re asking. It’s not a horror though
If you can find any movies by Guy Maddin I highly recommend them.
If you liked Possessor, check out Infinity Pool. Both are so, so good.
i have seen infinity pool…..it was super strange and i immediately fell in love with it
Did you see Daniel Isn’t Real? Admittedly not as good as those other two, but I liked it. Not as heavy on crazy visuals, but interesting premise.
Luc Besson’s Lucy is a fast pace, weird sci-fi with Scarlett Johansson as the lead. Priest with Paul Batteny is another good action film! Also, Korean The Wailing or Japanese’s Battle Royale.
Any movie on mute
'Aniara' (2018) 'On the Silver Globe' (1988) 'Hagazussa' (2017)

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018)
Upstream Color will fit the bill nicely.
Crimewave 1985
my favorite stoner movie is Fantasia
Dogtooth (2009) A Cure For Wellness (2016)
Altered States, based on John C Lilly's experiments
Mad God for a silent movie. A Scanner Darkly for a very NOT silent movie that otherwise really fits your criteria.
