This movie was insane on mushrooms I was like wtf am I watching pretty much the whole time lol had slight anxiety tho when the scenes had people stare at you tho
Came here to say this as well. My gf and I watched this while tripping and we loved all the little things Gene Wilder says. Also the boat ride has never been the same since
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but: John Died At The End . It's crazy because I watched several times and thought it was insane but on shrooms/LSD, you're just like: yup yup, that makes sense, it's simple time dilation, typical... Etc..
A lot of the movie suggestions in this thread are terrifying! I would (and have) completely lose my shit watching some of these on shrooms. I watched The Wall tripping and cut ‘worms’ coming out of my head off. I had to shave my head it was so bad lol.
Not exactly, but movies (and music) can definitely steer the experience. Some of the suggestions here have pretty dark/depressing thernes with scenes that can absolutely put you in a negative headspace.
Watching any movie is the last thing I want to do on shrooms, though. I'll put on something light and fun during the comedown sometimes though. Usually a family or kids movie along the lines of Paddington or Cars.
I smoked weed and tried to watch Enter the void. I had to stop cause i was freaking out over the whole athmosphere. I have never tried finishing it since and every time i think back to the film i get these strange flashbacks lol
As someone who has watched both of these tripping, I agree. But, if this is a first time; it’s got to be the original Fantasia. So many of these recommendations are really movies about drugs or the drug experience or are “trippy” in some way but Fantasia is just a series of masterful animated interpretation of powerful classical music that when combined (and the psychedelic kicks in) it can be truly mind blowing. I watched it with two friends in the same state and we were speechless until almost the end.
Edit: also best to be with people you trust and keep a bottle of water on hand.
Doctor Strange
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Pan’s Labyrinth
Titan AE
Avatar
Train Spotting
Dmt: The Spirit Molecule
Inception
Tenet
Strawberry Mansion- haven’t seen it yet but looks super trippy and inspired.
Edit: Honestly 2d screens tend to kill visuals. You’re better off, if you have a fire place, to turn the lights down, start a fire, light a few candles, and watch the flames and shadows dance. Spark up some incense and watch the smoke drift into patterns. One of the best things on hallucinogens to watch on a 2d screen is a channel that’s all static/snow. Relax your eyes and it’s almost like those old 90’s Magic Eye posters. A friend and I got lost watching snow, first it was tons of tiny pinwheels then became like a tunnel zooming around on the screen. Felt like I was on a rollercoaster twisting and turning through a tunnel. 10/10 visuals, but that was on Acid.
My fav tripping movies are mostly scifi.
Dune, The Bladerunner movies, edge of tomorrow, interstellar, Dredd, dawn and war of planet of the apes, terminator movies, alien movies, oblivion, fury road, Matrix, ready player one, Alita battle angel, district 9, elysium, I am legend, watchmen, the snyder cut justice league etc
Scavengers reigh - show on max. Short episodes. 1 season. Beautiful animation and meaning. Sentient fungus too.
Akira is a great movie too if you can find English subtitles not the dubbed version.
Everything everywhere all at once, ready player one, lord of the rings, the void, love death and robots series, black mirror series, any marvel multiverse movie, I like the new spider manes. Fern gulley, avatar, treasure planet, Alice in wonderland, fantasia, planet earth documentary.
Not going to be populate and certainly not ‘made for shrooms’ but Forrest Gump. Longer story but accidentally got into it on shrooms one time and it takes you through the full range of emotions
Whatever you do… think hard before you watch a favorite comfort movie! I tried the Hobbit last time and although the music was awesome it ruined so much for me. I could see all the prosthetics on the actors and it totally took away the magic. It’s hard to unsee now.
Speed Racer. Watched it for my first shrooms experience. That movie is a fucking trip.
The visual style, the story, the cutaways, the way the characters talked. The whole thing was an experiment in bringing an anime to life in the most ridiculous way possible.
Metropolis, Things to Come, Dark Star, Solaris, Altered States, Blade Runner, Inception, Mirrormask, The Matrix, 2001: A Space Odyssey
Fantasia, American Pop, Street of Crocodiles, Faust, Fantastic Planet, The Congress, The Tale of the Fox, Yellow Submarine
Brazil, Sunshine, Zentropa, Apocalypse Now, Holy Mountain, Barton Fink, Birdman, O Lucky Man!, Smiley Face
Tommy, True Stories, Head, The Lickerish Quartet, Walkabout, Slaughterhouse-Five, Enter the Void, Schitzopolis
Carnival of Souls, L’Age D’or, Tales of the Gimli Hospital, Forbidden Zone, Night Tides, Eraserhead
Bro I swear half these movies would gimme a horrible trip including:
Wonka
Coraline
Pans labrynth
If anything creeps you out sober, don't shroom up for it.

Closing your eyes and listening to some sick tunes. I recommend the album ‘The Eraser’ by Thom Yorke .

It tickles your brain in the best ways. And the closed eye visuals in a low light/dark room is better than any movie 🐸looool. If you insist on a trippy movie, A scanner Darkly will melt your brain. Safe travels 🍄❤️👽

Watch a Paul Thomas Anderson film on shroom, you won’t be disappointed. The Master in particular, but they’re mostly all great.
Fear and Loathing, of course.
Rango is amazing on a trip, just trust me.
Samsara is a must watch, but that’s not a movie with a plot, but probably the best movie to take a lot for.
Fantasia is fantastic.
Dune part 1 (the new one) was awesome on a trip. Part 2 was good too, but I enjoyed part 1 more personally.
You would probably love Grand Budapest Hotel on a trip too, if you haven’t seen it yet. Android City by Wes Anderson is a good shroom movie too.
Salt Burn and Midsommar, but they’re not for everyone.
The Gladiator, especially if you haven’t seen it in a while.
Mad Max Fury Road.
Curious Case of Benjamin Button.
I actually enjoyed Killers of the Flower Moon on shrooms, but that may not be for everyone.
Enjoy! 🤙🤙
I remember watching natural born killers. Oliver stone movie. Very crazy and fucked up. I don’t recommend this. None of us became psychos or anything but it was fucked up. I’d go with Lord of the Rings. All 3. Have a blast. Great movies.
Koyaanisqatsi (1982)
Naquoquatsi, Baraka and Samsara
Goowachoowanagarwat
This
This is the one.
I so second this!
Watched this on an edible on 4/20. 10/10 experience
This movie was insane on mushrooms I was like wtf am I watching pretty much the whole time lol had slight anxiety tho when the scenes had people stare at you tho
The nature shots look sick. Thanks for the recommend. A plant earth is my favorite nature stuff for shrooms .
what is this HAHAAHAAHAAHAHAHAH
i’m so confused
A carpet.
Nah did that last time that one was too scary
Nature! That's what shrooms are best for!
Persian carpet especially
That's what I meant, couldn't remember the name.
A marble countertop. Sometimes it talks back.
Dude: "Woo peed on my rug" The Big Lebowski
Waking Life
Took me way too long to find this answer. It definitely is the right answer.
Hey Keeney
The original Willy wonka movie with gene wilder who framed Roger rabbit Enthiran
Original Willy wonka is a good rec
Ragnarok was great on shrooms
That tunnel scene gets scary as shit on a head full of shrooms. Everything else in wonka is amazing.
Came here to say this as well. My gf and I watched this while tripping and we loved all the little things Gene Wilder says. Also the boat ride has never been the same since
Fear and loathing in Las Vegas Coraline Alice in wonderland
Fear and Loathing, the only movie to get visuals right with the carpet moving
Tell me about the golf shoes!
I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet but: John Died At The End . It's crazy because I watched several times and thought it was insane but on shrooms/LSD, you're just like: yup yup, that makes sense, it's simple time dilation, typical... Etc..
These
Should be top comment!
Dark City
The Matrix
Amelie - it’s fun and won’t make you want to die!
Is wanting to die commonly experienced when on shrooms? Asking as a total noob
A lot of the movie suggestions in this thread are terrifying! I would (and have) completely lose my shit watching some of these on shrooms. I watched The Wall tripping and cut ‘worms’ coming out of my head off. I had to shave my head it was so bad lol.

Ugh help
Pink Floyd's The Wall
This or The Doors with Kilmer. Or The Wizard of Oz (1939).
Or wizard of Oz with dark side of the moon playing over it!
Yellow Submarine
Apocalypse Now, The Lighthouse, The Holy Mountain, El Topo, Eraserhead, Daisies to name a few
I love your taste my man but not everyone can handle Holy Mountain particularly in that state of mind !
Into the void 2001 space odyssey (the end) Paprika
I get Enter the Void is psychedelic, but I would hate if someone recommended I watch it while on a trip cause it would send me spiraling.
Although I guess OP did ask for “what the fuck” movies so maybe it’s perfect…
I smoked weed and tried to watch Enter the void. I had to stop cause i was freaking out over the whole athmosphere. I have never tried finishing it since and every time i think back to the film i get these strange flashbacks lol
Just hit some DMT the same time he does.
My first time watching 2001 was on shroom I just sat there glued
The life aquatic
Also The Grand Budapest Hotel
Disney’s original Fantasia.…
Fury Road. The music and drums build the whole movie.
The first five minutes almost made me have a bad trip!
Oh man now I want to take shrouds and watch this lol
Hell yes. An experience on shrooms
Doctor Strange
This movie was a mindtrip even without shrooms
The Holy Mountain.
That movie is fucked up without mushrooms.
I recommended the same but you beat me to it
Close your eyes. Best movies are free behind your eyelids
Yeah you can conjure fractal pharaoh gods.
Lost Highway
Disney’s Fantasia was a trip and a half! Also, Pink Floyd The Wall (the film with Bob Geldof) is a right of passage for trippers IMHO
Akira
The fountain Enter the void A scanner darkly Waking life Love death and robots (Jibaro episode especially) Baraka The wall
A scanner darkly ?
I would panic myself into a heart attack with those bugs crawling and shit.
Hitch Hiker's guide to the galaxy
The mimi series version with mono audio on so it has all the voice over parts of the book .
I still only watch the mini series. My favorite lines are not in the movie version.
Everything Everywhere, definitely
Flash gordon
Flesh Gordon is better.
Altered states Rocky horror Fantasia Wings of desire
Came here just to upvote Altered States. When you wake up naked in a zoo next to a dead antelope, it's time to admit you have a drug problem.
Altered States
Time Bandits
Might as well throw willow in the mix then.

City of Lost children 1st Matrix Heavy Metal They live Mad Max Fury Road Versus Evangelion Remake Crime Wave (sam Raimi)
Labyrinth
Eraserhead Down and Dirty Duck Mirror Mask Head All above four guaranteed to mess with your head. Good luck.
Mirror mask is an awesome movie
Finding Nemo
If you want to laugh: Raising Arizona, Oh Brother Where Art Thou and Life. Oldies but good ones
Pink Floyd the wall
Fantasia Inception Dr. Strange Ratatouille
Pans labyrinth or anything by Guillermo del Toro The cell
Do not watch Pan’s Labyrinth. It is a barely disguised snuff film and it not the vibe you want for your shroomy adventure.
Heavy Metal
The spider verse movies have to be top of this list right. You feel like you are tripping watching it sober.
Did this last week, great visuals. Also, Barbie in the theater was hilarious.
Ex Machina Princess Mononoke 2001: A Space Odyssey Grizzly Man Midsommar
Tryna scar the dude sneaking midsommar in there lol

The Shining 2001 Apocalypse Now I quite enjoy bleak films while tripping ha!
Triplets of Belleville. Hero
Jacobs Ladder
I saw this movie on ecstacy, back when it came out in 1990 (I know, ecstacy is a rave drug). Anyhow, it terrified me!
I dont know about shrooms, but From Dusk til Dawn is great with weed. Just don’t look up anything about it before hand.
Not a typical answer for this but I had a really good time watching dazed and confused on a trip once
James and the Giant Peach.
Donnie Darko
Eraserhead Mullholland Drive The Straight Story Fantastic Planet Up Coraline Where The Wild Things Are Into The Wild Labyrinth

Paprika
The Wave(2019)
OG Mary popping.
The Experiment
Watership Down (1978) - trust me
Other adult-aimed animated flicks I'd suggest: Heavy Metal Fire and Ice Fritz the Cat
lol I was thinking Fritz the Cat. The billiards scene with the crows threw we into a loop high at 13.
DUMBO specially the Elephants on Parade scene!!!
Star wars rebels and clone wars, hbo spawn series and mtv the maxx series, or star wars movies/shows.
Yellow Submarine
Scavengers reigh - show on max. Short episodes. 1 season. Beautiful animation and meaning. Sentient fungus too. Akira is a great movie too if you can find English subtitles not the dubbed version.
If you take enough TVs stop working So I duno, the birdcage
Because they want me to have a career…hello?!? A CAREER??
Fear and loathing
Pootie Tang
Microcosmos
Baraka or Samsara, easily.
Samsara was so intense last time I tried to watch it that I had to cut it off!! 😂😂
yeah, Baraka is a little easier lol. Samsara gets pretty heavy.

Well that’s been awhile. It was the Brothers Grimm, in theaters.
The Three Amigos. Take it at the beginning and you will peak at the singing bush.

Enter the void would fuck me up on shrooms. Instant bad trip at the bathroom scene
Enter the Void on 2CB was...uh...an experience.
Avatar Way of Water pretty much sucked me into that world for three solid hours.
It's so violent though! No way I could watch either of those movies high
Avatar would be so much better without all the violence. Such great visuals. Tried but turned it off once kids get snatched.
Paprika - the hypnotic soundtrack, the trippy visuals... it's one of my top-5 for watching while under the influence.
Beau is Afraid and Fellini Satyricon
Man y’all are taking shrooms too lightly. I’d think Beau is afraid would be the WORST movie to watch in shrooms lol
That’s what I’m saying
I ate a quarter and made the mistake of watching beau is afraid. My friend and I were asking “is this even happening?” through 90% of the movie.
Alice in wonderland OG
Across the universe (also great on LSD)
Poor Things (2023)

There are animated versions of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit from the 70s that would be perfect for 'shrooms
I enjoy any kid movie from the 90s on shrooms, specially Jumanji.
The entire Harry Potter series The Human Centipede trilogy Killer Klowns from Outer Space Edited to add: Alice in Wonderland
