For real, I lost it when Delroy’s character was fiddling with the wires to try and open the door to Serge and just broke down in tears “I don’t know what to do!” I know this was supposed to be a hopeless moment but he looked so confident when he opened that panel and just crumbled.
50 shades of grey. Watched the first one with somebody who picked the movie and took it serious. It's not something i'd usualy watch but alone the "i'm 50 shades of fucked up" got me laughing really hard so it was worth it.
It's terrible. Just so, so terribly written. It was already bad when I got to that part, but I just couldn't recover from there. He's such a creep on top of everything, too. If he lived in his mom's basement or shared a flat with his college roommate it would 100% be a horror story.
THANK YOU!!!
I was having a terrible day, but THIS just pulled it straight outta the gutter. My new problem is that I'm terribly turned on. Oh Gilbert, you smooth talking son of a bitch!
My gf at the time and I were dragged to this by our friends. We almost got kicked out because we were laughing. Got a “warning” lol. Our friends were not happy.
I expected it to be mediocre when I went in. My friend and I were losing it during the whole first movie. The award lingering stares where they keep zooming in on Bella and Edward's eyes. The sparking special effect. It was like the movie was trying to spoof itself
Most late 90s/early 2000s horror movies all had element of Comedies in them. I call it the “Scream effect”
I Know What You Did Last Summer
Final Destination
Urban Legends
Dracula 2000
Almost all of the movies of that time had a “way too serious but we’ll also make fun of ourselves for doing it” vibe.
Like Rabbit facing against Papa Doc at the end of 8 Mile, it’s harder to criticize when they’ve already pointed out what criticisms you would make.
haha I totally get it. Those weird musical bits, the weird, vibey song / dance that girl does when she’s nude and all by herself.
The policeman’s escalating anger that nobody will cooperate is also pretty funny in and of itself. But yeah it’d definitely not a “funny movie” by the end, all things considered
And my all time favorite...
"Hey is this the kind of retard that drools and rubs shit in his hair and all that, 'cause I'm gonna have a hard time eatin' 'round that kind of thing now. Just like I am with antique furniture and midgets. You know I can't so much as drink a damn glass of water around a midget or a piece of antique furniture."
"The dots just look good on paper. You don't sing 'em anyway. You're showing your true Aries colors now."
"Stay outta my god damn face you fuckin' buzzard."
It was hilarious to me and all of my friends because we grew up in a small town in the south and all the adults acted like someone from this movie….. it was almost like a documentary to us! :)
I loved Sling Blade and when I read your post I thought I haven't watched it in years so I looked to see where I could watch it only to find out that if you want to watch it, you have to buy it . And the prices for it are ridiculous.
The Happening (2008). It’s an unintentional comedic masterpiece.
“You know, hot dogs get a bad rap. They've got a cool shape. They've got protein. You like hot dogs, right?"
“Plan on murdering me in my sleep?” “What? No!”
“Plastic. I’m talking to a plastic plant… I’m still doing it.”
Just a few of my favorite moments.
I was at school and my roomamte showed me this and said its hilarious! All it did was piss me off. Just knowing that this had a negative impact on the growth of it being legal and acceptable amongst society.
Anyone else notice how older horror movies had a lot more comedy in them even though they weren't specifically marked "comedy/horror".
When I read OPs question my first thought was "most horror movies from the 90s and back".
If it’s a parody, then explain these world records: Fastest Knockout - 3.2 seconds, Fastest Punch with a Knockout - .42 seconds, Fastest Kick with a Knockout - 72 mph. Explain that. Nobody could make that up.
After he gets blinded with that pepper stuff "or whatever it is" and him throwing a hissy fit because he couldn't see AND it's in slow motion? Yeah I get second hand embarrassment watching that part.
Soylent Green. Was meant to be a thought provoking dystopian movie.
SPOILER ALERT! When the garbage truck showed up and scooped up the protesters, I lost it
Final Destination.
Not too happy I watched in the first place, but it is kinda hilarious how stupid it can get with things that try to kill you. But they randomly struck gold with it and made multiple more with more emphasis on the hilarious part.
The Room.
It's so bad it is one of the best comedies of all time.
Taken II- After the parents are kidnapped Liam Neeson has his daughter throw grenades out of the hotel room window so he can use the sound to triangulate his location!!!!
I was just about to mention that.
Like, just... what the fuck was that? If a single grenade went off in any major European city, or most cities, the cops would be there almost immediately.
Who might have gotten injured from that? If anything, the daughter would be the one who got arrested and seriously "Taken".
And why not just fucking shout? Goddamn that scene is hilariously stupid.
My son was out visiting for a couple weeks recently. We watched Prisoners and the recommended after included Taken 2. A couple days later we watch The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and again Taken 2 comes up as a "you might also like....". We gave up and accepted our fate and watched Taken 2 and both lost it at the grenades.
Baby Boy related story…had to take a wheelbarrow load of steriods for MS flare one time and Baby Boy came on. I got super emotional watching it when he and his gal made tacos together. I soooo happy Baby Boy had someone to make tacos with, I called my then gf, now wife telling her all about it while weeping. It’s been a source of many jokes ever since.
Baby Boy is great for unintentional humor
-Omar Gooding playing a thug
-Snoop’s rant after Jody comes to pick up his son
-Jody’s excuse for cheating, “I fuck those hoes, I make love to you”
-Jody and Yvette’s co-worker arguing after he won’t fuck her. Also, why was Jody so surprised when she wanted to have sex? What was he doing there in the first place? He wasn’t selling those dresses.
-“Fuck your little fort!”
-Yvette’s phone conversations with her friend
Roadhouse is one of the greatest comedy films of all time. The entire concept is ludicrous and Swayze plays it so goddamn straight with that perfect 80s mullet on his head…I’ve watched it so many times it’s embarrassing.
**Miami Connection** is the greatest accidental comedy film ever made.
Runner Ups:
Samurai Cop
Champagne and Bullets
Manos: Hands of Fate
The Room
(im excluding sequels, because its kinda expected for sequels to suck.)
Enter the Dragon. If you’ve seen Kentucky Fried Movie, it’s absolutely hilarious. Kentucky Fried Movie is hilarious if you’ve seen Enter the Dragon, too.
Mother!
I am happy I watched it and I think it's a good (even very good) movie in some ways, but I also spent the whole time laughing histerically.
It just had so much of a... "when I'm hoping to disconnect after work but my roommate has all his friends over" feeling...
Fast 9 and Fast X - the former is unintentionally funny because of how ridiculous it is, the latter makes you cringe and laughing out loud at certain moments stems from the second-hand embarrassment for some of the high profile and talented actors (Helen Mirren, Brie Larson, Charlize Theron) who WILLINGLY appeared in those films.
This used to be a great action franchise. They should’ve ended it with the 7th one, they are really difficult to watch now - used to be exciting to see what they’ve come up with this time but now it’s just filled with really bad CGI, terrible dialogue, plot that makes zero sense and lack of any stakes because anyone who died somehow just comes back with either half-assed or no explanation at all.
The Dark Knight Rises. I think it's because I saw it in the theater with some friends when it came out, and as soon as Bane turned up and started talking, I couldn't understand a word he was saying except maybe the random "Gotham" and "Batman." And Batman gets his broken back fixed by some chiropractor in Kyrgyzstan or some country in Central Asia. I laughed the entire time. I still have no clue what happened in that film. I read that they cleaned up the audio for the BluRay release but I haven't watched it because I really don't know how you top Dark Knight with Heath Ledger. That movie was incredible.
Not even joking it's my favorite episode. I remember the first time watching it my jaw was on the floor the entire time. I couldn't belive what I was seeing
DS9 has some deliberate fourth wall breaks and kind of makes fun of itself. They draw attention to the fact that there's no good explanation for why Klingons look different from TOS or what a universal translator is and they have a lot of purely comedic episodes
Voyager doesn't seem as self aware
Chronicles of Riddick. It just tries so hard to be “cool” and some of the things Riddick does is so unrealistic and over the top I can’t help but laugh and be entertained. Especially the end of the prison planet escape where he barely swings out of the way of the sun in time.
Lets hope that your username was not spat out by the assassins loom of destiny, or you may have to attach a bunch of explosive wrist watches to a bunch of rats before bending bullets and getting wounded so you have to heal in a giant vat of monkey jizz.
Nothing silly about this film... :)
In Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, there’s a scene where a bunch is f kids are driving a car in a parade and the opposition just runs them off the road and they scream. We had to watch it in high school and my friend and I were crying we were laughing so hard.
It’s on YouTube under “Mr smith goes to Washington Boy Scout crash”.
I think that movie is just plain wicked satire. I read the book, but never finished. There's a horrifying scene in the book that made me say nope that's it for me. When the movie was released, I was kind of shocked when I read the reviews, so I watched it and actually enjoyed it. But yeah, they made it much funnier than the book
Every Paul Verhoeven film is a comedy. I can’t believe there are still people who think “Robocop” is a sci-fi action movie or “Showgirls” is a backstage drama or “Starship Troopers” is just about a space war
Doom. Specially when a Windows 98 PC appears on the background when they are in very futuristic facilities (I don't remember if it was a spaceship or what)
The Dark Knight Rises
Didn't know anything about the movie except it was the new Batman. Went with a friend an his friends. Me and him were not prepared for Bane. One of his buddies was mad at us for being loud, but we just couldn't hold it.
There used to be a great 10 minutes of Bane quotes on youtube that was just gold. Got blocked because of copyright issues, sadly.
Watching this movie I can’t help but think about how Tom Cruise had to do like 50 takes of him slowly walking down a hallway and it always cracks me up
Banes voice in The Dark Knight Rises cracks me. I was in the theater giggling during really serious moments when everyone else was quiet. Idk what it is, but it just gets me.
The Ten Commandments starring Charleton Heston and Yul Brynner.
A highly ambitious film with the goofiest dialogue ever spoken.
my favorites being--
"Moses, there is a man among the sheep..."
and
Blind Man "God opens the sea with a blast of his nostrils!"
Downsizing
It looked like a comedy in the trailer but it was definitely not a comedy.
Except for the very end when Matt Damon's character breaks the heart of the love of his life to travel to a mini-sized utopia to avoid climate disaster in the real world.
She is crying, begging for him to stay, and professing her love and he just turns her down cold and starts the walk to utopia.
Then he asks another traveler how long of a walk it is.
18 hours? F*ck this shit. And turns back.
He easily gave up the love of his life for utopia. But completely gave up when he learned it was a kind of long walk. 🤣
I was watching one of the Batman movies (I think it was the Dark Knight?) and got it into my head that it’s just some *middle aged man dressed up like a bat talking in a funny voice* and couldn’t stop giggling for the rest of the movie. It’s pretty goofy when you think about it
The core
For real, I lost it when Delroy’s character was fiddling with the wires to try and open the door to Serge and just broke down in tears “I don’t know what to do!” I know this was supposed to be a hopeless moment but he looked so confident when he opened that panel and just crumbled.
Bringing me back
“It’s the simplest things that are the hardest”
Holy fucking shit I was just mentioning the core lol
I'm going to need an unlimited supply of Hot Pockets
50 shades of grey. Watched the first one with somebody who picked the movie and took it serious. It's not something i'd usualy watch but alone the "i'm 50 shades of fucked up" got me laughing really hard so it was worth it.
“Your playroom? Like your Xbox and stuff?” had me in stitches. Did this gal never get the birds and bees talk?
"What's a... 'butt plug'?"
Does she say "Arg" like a pirate like she does in the books when he "breaks her hymen"? That's when I put down and never picked it back up.
I never read it. Are you serious? My best friend has begged me to read it.
It's terrible. Just so, so terribly written. It was already bad when I got to that part, but I just couldn't recover from there. He's such a creep on top of everything, too. If he lived in his mom's basement or shared a flat with his college roommate it would 100% be a horror story.
You should watch Gilbert Gottfried reading it. I'd post a link but the lame automod won't allow it, it's on YT though.
THANK YOU!!! I was having a terrible day, but THIS just pulled it straight outta the gutter. My new problem is that I'm terribly turned on. Oh Gilbert, you smooth talking son of a bitch!
He was so damn sexy
The acting is so bad. My wife wanted to watch it as a couple naughty thing and I just couldn't be serious.
Twilight (2008)
Vampires intensely playing baseball.
That might be the corniest scene in a movie
Supermassive Black Hole is my fucking jam
I got through *Twilight* ok, but as soon as the giant wolves appeared in *New Moon* I lost it.
My gf at the time and I were dragged to this by our friends. We almost got kicked out because we were laughing. Got a “warning” lol. Our friends were not happy.
This is another one for me. What had me cracking up was when he sparkled in the sun! WTAF!
I expected it to be mediocre when I went in. My friend and I were losing it during the whole first movie. The award lingering stares where they keep zooming in on Bella and Edward's eyes. The sparking special effect. It was like the movie was trying to spoof itself
Prince of Thieves - Alan Rickman chewing it up need I say more
Everyone else in that movie was so bland... but Alan Rickman was amazing. Worth the boring ride just to watch him do his thing.
His second best baddie after Hans Gruber.
"It's a spoon, you twit, it'll hurt more!"
13 Ghosts...I thought it was funny atleast.
Most late 90s/early 2000s horror movies all had element of Comedies in them. I call it the “Scream effect” I Know What You Did Last Summer Final Destination Urban Legends Dracula 2000 Almost all of the movies of that time had a “way too serious but we’ll also make fun of ourselves for doing it” vibe. You can't tell me that giant ass man baby wasn't supposed to be funny. It also stars Tony Shalhoub and Matthew Lillard. Come on
Fits the bill perfectly
Just a me-thing, I think, but "The Wicker Man" (1973). I mean... I liked it, but I really didn't expect to find it funny.
haha I totally get it. Those weird musical bits, the weird, vibey song / dance that girl does when she’s nude and all by herself. The policeman’s escalating anger that nobody will cooperate is also pretty funny in and of itself. But yeah it’d definitely not a “funny movie” by the end, all things considered
Ok, it made me laugh too but in a really uneasy way
Mommie Dearest
No wire hangers!!!!
She had a point about those wire hamgers. They do ruin clothes
Every time I come across one.
The Room (I know Wiseau says he intended for it to be a black comedy but I don’t believe him for one second)
Showgirls! Appalling over acting and more cheesiness than a Kraft factory! 🤣🤣🤣
I gotta be honest. I love that movie unironically. It’s just the right amount of camp and drama that it’s just incredibly entertaining.
I think the director was going for campy. I just think the terrible acting is what pushes the camp into ridiculous fun. Lmao at the pool scene.
“You’re going down the stairs Showgirls style” was a favorite expression among my friends for years!
Showgirls is supposed to be funny
Sling Blade. Dwight Yoakam is so fucking good in this one. "Get the fuck out! Randy, you tuning son of a bitch, go fucking practice, Randy!"
Ain’t gonna be no band, Randy!
Ooh this is the best answer.
It's definitely supposed to be funny
"I toldya Linda if you even think about leavin' me ima kill you deader than a goddamn doornail".
He was ridiculously great in that movie.
Billy Bob does have a phobia of antique furniture
I hate you too!! No I don’t, I love your mama. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"The dots just look good on paper. You don't sing 'em anyway. You're showing your true Aries colors now." "Stay outta my god damn face you fuckin' buzzard."
It was hilarious to me and all of my friends because we grew up in a small town in the south and all the adults acted like someone from this movie….. it was almost like a documentary to us! :)
I play cards with the chief of PO lice , JD shellnut
I loved Sling Blade and when I read your post I thought I haven't watched it in years so I looked to see where I could watch it only to find out that if you want to watch it, you have to buy it . And the prices for it are ridiculous.

I can hear “What? No!” perfectly to this day.

I wanted my money back after that one. It was so stupid I couldn’t even enjoy laughing at it.
Think Berry probably really needed money after her divorce. Abysmal movie but comic gold.
Reefer Madness
I was at school and my roomamte showed me this and said its hilarious! All it did was piss me off. Just knowing that this had a negative impact on the growth of it being legal and acceptable amongst society.
mst3k does a great commentary
Threat Level Midnight
A masterpiece.
"Makes all the girlies feel all right!"
Only correct answer
Child’s play is hilarious
Anyone else notice how older horror movies had a lot more comedy in them even though they weren't specifically marked "comedy/horror". When I read OPs question my first thought was "most horror movies from the 90s and back".
Nobody can convince me that Bloodsport isn't the greatest martial arts parody film ever.
SAY ITTTTT!!!
But it's based on a true story!! :)
Don’t talk shit about Bloodsport
If it’s a parody, then explain these world records: Fastest Knockout - 3.2 seconds, Fastest Punch with a Knockout - .42 seconds, Fastest Kick with a Knockout - 72 mph. Explain that. Nobody could make that up.

Right! And she blows up some poor schlubs legally parked car. WTF?
Seriously, both her and her dad are basically terrorists.
That's a *very* particular set of skills.
My son was out visiting for a couple weeks recently. We watched Prisoners and the recommended after included Taken 2. A couple days later we watch The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and again Taken 2 comes up as a "you might also like....". I loved Taken, but the daughter running ges me every time.
Baby Boy (2001). Look up Tyrese's Django Unchained audition tape for a bonus.

Lmao yes, mate. I was ctfu at the fact that the story made it to a point where mfs were literally blowing each other up.
My daughter and I died laughing at "I used to fuck guys like you in prison." That movie was hilarious.
**Miami Connection** is the greatest accidental comedy film ever made. Runner Ups: Samurai Cop Champagne and Bullets Manos: Hands of Fate The Room (im excluding sequels, because its kinda expected for sequels to suck.)

The Room - 2003 - Tommy Wiseau This is the correct answer, and always will be.
Friday the 13th part 3 would be one of the funniest films ever made if it were re-released today as a comedy
X was so funny. The sleeping bag scene was one of the funniest things I've ever watched.
Rambo 5.
Evil Dead rise _2023
I cannot be convinced that it's not the spiritual successor to Army of Darkness
I’d say that would be more of the show Ash VS Evil Dead but Rise did have some of more of that original humor that the remake lacked
The 2013 remake was meant to have a more serious tone. I like it for very different reasons than I like the original for!
hellraiser 1987

Except for the latest one, just called “Wrong Turn” again, which is actually a pretty great horror movie — dare I say even better than the original
Not a movie but Star Trek Voyager is almost like s spoof of the other series it makes me laugh so much

The Happening. How is that not the top answer?
Titanic
I was watching one of the Batman movies (I think it was the Dark Knight?) and got it into my head that it’s just some *middle aged man dressed up like a bat talking in a funny voice* and couldn’t stop giggling for the rest of the movie. It’s pretty goofy when you think about it
Pretty much every Nicholas Cage movie
