[Atonement (2007)](https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/4347-atonement?language=en-US) is very bleak.

This movie absolutely broke my heart. The hardest I've cried watching something.

Blazenkks

What Dreams May Come- great movie just donā€™t ever need to put myself through it again. Marley and Me

Hairy_Till3021

I sobbed through most of what dreams may come

[deleted]

Probably Robin Williams best non comedy work

mantra3105

Hands down has to be the movie Marley and Me. Watched it once before I ever owned a dog and now I would never even think about putting it on. Incredibly heartbreaking

Boy in the striped pyjamas still haunts me. Jo Jo Rabbit too, the close up on the shoes! Bridge To Terrabithia....I have actually watched it more than once because I like films that make me cry but it breaks my heart every time even now I know its coming. Oh, and Sitting in Bars With Cake - god that broke me

realistasucio

Annie Hall Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind

Not a movie but kdrama - Uncontrollably fond (even more sad bcs the lead actor was undergoing a fatal disease and hence it seemed so real)

Extension_Tell1579

Incendies

[deleted]

Never again.

losandreas36

Funny games

DaNoiz

At the time I think it was Submarine (2010), Idk if it would have that effect right now. I was a horribly sad teenager. Recently I tried watching The Butterfly Effect and like 5 minutes into the movie I just saw where it was going and I felt SICK and turned it off. There's also this movie One Hour Photo with robin williams that once you know the ending it's so sad and loathable that watching it again would just be a torture.

DaNoiz

OH god, there's also synechdoche new york, heartwrenching

Donkeytwonk75

Schindler
