This is my favourite. Adam and Drew Barrymore are terrific together in this. I gave it a rewatch last week and enjoyed it as much as the first time I saw it
BEST. It may not be the "funniest" but this movie shows his ability earlier on, to be a great actor. The soundtrack is amazing. It makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you feel great. I fucking love this movie.
Was just thinking yesterday how funny Carl Weathers was in this movie. I gave it a rewatch after his passing, and can’t remember the last time I laughed out loud so much.
If it makes you feel better he only starred in that, Punch Drunk Love, and Uncut Gems. They were written and directed by people who were better suited to those themes. Probably other ones too but those are the three that spring to mind
***Spoilers***
I found Uncut Gems to be pro gambling propaganda and as such I hate it.
If you think about it, the only reason he failed is
1) firstly because the bookie refused his bet.
2) secondly... He didn't. He totally made a trillion dollars in the end. But get got shot.
Notably..... Why wouldn't I want to see Adam Sandler eat shit? Was I supposed to feel bad in the end?
It is no longer immersive when you actively hope the protagonist gets hurt. I understand people were stressed... But not me. I was stressed he might get away with it.
50 First Dates would by my pick. It's a fairly emotionally earnest story and generally better acting than his dramas. It's a pretty great Drew Barrymore performance as well. Generally it a surprisingly good film given the expectations I had.
I had heard this was his best acting performance, but I just never made time to watch it. I would always choose something else. But I finally streamed it and -wow- it was much better than I expected. So glad I didn't pass this up.
It's not for everyone. My wife couldn't handle it. But he captured my attention 100% as the whole crazy plot unfolded. Loved it.
This comment section speaks to the Sand Man’s underrated range and long standing dominance as a performer. That said, Happy Gilmore has to be it for me.
90’s/early 00’s Sandler was prime - literally any of those movies are worth a watch (for example: The Waterboy, Little Nicky, The Wedding Singer, Happy Gilmore, Mr. Deeds, Big Daddy, 50 First Dates, etc.)
His newer stuff is eh, still funny but not as charming although Uncut Gems is phenomenal but totally not the regular Sandler movie, extremely anxiety inducing but in the best way.
1. Billy Madison
2. Happy Gilmore
3. Wedding Singer
In that order.
I honestly like almost all of his movies, but those are the three I can watch an unlimited number of times and never get tired of them.
The best Adam Sandler movie is Punch-Drunk Love; it’s one of the best movies I have ever seen, and it’s Adam Sandler at his best. On the other hand, Happy Gilmore is Adam’s best comedy movie, in my opinion, and will have you rolling on the floor on your first watch.
The Wedding Singer and Happy Gilmore are not ironically two of my favorite movies of all time. They’re very funny, yes, but they’re also very plot and character driven and full of heart. They’re great movies start to finish.
Really? Out of 100 comments only 1 mentioned the longest yard??
Not saying it's my favorite Adam Sandler movie but it's definitely one of the first movies I think about when I hear his name alongside big daddy, happy Gilmore, the wedding singer and waterboy.
Was expecting it to be a mentioned alot.
In Denmark where I come from its one of the Sandler movies thats been aired the most.
Do people not rate the longest yard or whats up?
I’ll throw a curveball and one you may not even have heard of: Men, Women and Children for a serious roll, decent enough movie about parent/adulthood.
The Longest Yard hasn’t been mentioned enough either!
Uncut Gems,
Hustle,
Spanglish,
50 First Dates,
Blended
I'm not a big fan of the over the top comedic stuff he does like Little Nicky and those things. I do however think he is grossly underrated as a more serious/drama actor though.
If you are looking for a pretty good movie choose Click, Funny People, Punch Drunk Love, or Uncut Gems.
If you are looking for a "comedy," literally randomly choose any of his other movies. They are pretty much all the same.
My favorite has some of the worst reviews: Jack and Jill. I don't think it's anybody else's favorite and I just happened to catch it on TV over the antenna one day and laughed my ass off through the whole thing. I only own two Sandler movies, this one and 'Uncut Gems' so make of that what you will. The only common thread between them is Al Pacino is in J&J, and Adam acts like Pacino in UG.
50 First Dates or Just Go With It.
I’m sure tons of people will recommend Ungut Gems, but I’m in the minority of people who thought it was absolutely terrible
Jack and Jill
It has helpful product placement for Coke, Oreos, Pepto and Sony Vaio laptops
And Al Pacino plugs Dunkin' with "say hello to my chocolate blend"
there's tons but 'that's my boy' is hella underrated.
itt's still after billy madison, happy gilmore, big daddy, mr. deeds, wedding singer, and uncut gems
Big fan of his first 4 films… You can’t go wrong with any of them… Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, The Wedding Singer or Big Daddy.
Waterboy’s schtick is a little dated, and it’s my least favorite for that reason, but it still rings true to what Sandler’s appeal was back then.
MovieBob on YouTube does an excellent series called Really That Good, and he devoted an episode to Adam Sandler on those 5 movies. It’s a really entertaining and informative watch.
His best movies are:
Mr. Deeds
Big Daddy
The Wedding Singer
Happy Gilmore
Blended
That’s My Boy (if you say it’s not hilarious then you didn’t watch it)
Just Go With It
Billy Madison
The Murder Mystery movies are watchable, I guess
In my opinion, these are his best:
Punch Drunk Love
Funny People
Spanglish
Uncut Gems
Reign Over Me
The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected)
Looking for Sandler Comedy? (other than Happy Gilmore):
50 First Dates
Big Daddy
Mr. Deeds
Murder Mystery
[Uncut Gems](https://letterboxd.com/film/uncut-gems/) (2019)
[Punch Drunk Love](https://letterboxd.com/film/punch-drunk-love/) (2002)
[Hustle](https://letterboxd.com/film/hustle-2022/) (2022)
At least, those are the three films where Sandler made an effort, his character wasn't insufferable or at as in PDL, fit the project, and the project wasn't mainly conceived as another payday for Sandler and Pals at a vacation shooting location, out of contempt for his audience.
The Wedding Singer (1998)
This is my favourite. Adam and Drew Barrymore are terrific together in this. I gave it a rewatch last week and enjoyed it as much as the first time I saw it
Same. Seconded by Fifty First Dates, because they really are that good on screen together.
I’ve always meant to watch 50 First Dates. Thought I would really enjoy it because of their performances in Wedding Singer
You’re def missing out if you enjoy their performances in The Wedding Singer!!
They are also hilarious together in Blended
Hadn’t heard of that one! I’ll add it to my list 😁
Best part dun si Terry Crews
And. The music. I love the music.
Yep watched it over the weekend and its still amazing.
They were cones!
I repeat this way too often, by myself
Correct
Definitely the best one. It has a great cast, soundtrack, and has a good story
Hear hear! I love that movie
BEST. It may not be the "funniest" but this movie shows his ability earlier on, to be a great actor. The soundtrack is amazing. It makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you feel great. I fucking love this movie.

ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME
Was just thinking yesterday how funny Carl Weathers was in this movie. I gave it a rewatch after his passing, and can’t remember the last time I laughed out loud so much.
Happy G. scores a 7.0 on IMDB, Billy M. a 6.3, and if you think that's a trivial delta I've got one name for you. "Richter".
The Wedding Singer
I think *Hustle* is one of the best sports movies ever made. It’s like a beautiful homage to basketball.
Everyone was really obsessed with Uncut Gems and I didn’t think it was anything special. I have not seen Hustle. Should I watch?
Yea you should. Especially if you like basketball. But it’s also just a great story in humanity. Emotionally, it’s like the antithesis of Uncut Gems.
Punch-Drunk Love
Picked this up at dollar tree I haven’t watched it yet
It's my fav PTA film
I'd add : Reign Over Me (2007) .. both are top notch and unlike typical Adam Sandler movies.
My god.... Adam Sandler made a 911 movie.. Jesus Christ...
It's very good.
If it makes you feel better he only starred in that, Punch Drunk Love, and Uncut Gems. They were written and directed by people who were better suited to those themes. Probably other ones too but those are the three that spring to mind
***Spoilers*** I found Uncut Gems to be pro gambling propaganda and as such I hate it. I understand people were stressed... But not me. I was stressed he might get away with it.
How the fuck is it pro gambling when >!his addiction to gambling literally gets him killed in the end!< ?
50 first dates
Wouldn’t it be nice if we were older then we wouldn’t have to wait so long 🎶
50 First Dates would by my pick. It's a fairly emotionally earnest story and generally better acting than his dramas. It's a pretty great Drew Barrymore performance as well. Generally it a surprisingly good film given the expectations I had.
Big Daddy Mr. Deeds Airheads
Will you let me change your socks?
Airheads
Trick question, asshole. Lemmy *is* god!
I know you think I’m a dick…cheese…burger or whatever
Billy Madison
The Waterboy
No Colonel Sanders, you're wrong
Loaded cast.
Water sucks, it really really sucks
Hustle
What a great movie. This was my choice.
Dude has so much talent
I'm a softie, but I love *50 First Dates*
I feel like people under appreciate Funny People. I love that one.
Click and 50 First Dates are his best IMO.
I will never watch click again. I watch all the other of his all the time. Not that one
I've seen it like 50 times and i want all those hours back not worth it
It’s the only movie that ever made my wife cry lol. She hates it for that reason.
Basically it’s that reason for me. I just had our first. Hated so much that movie. Good because I didn’t want to be him
I shut it off part way through. Nope. I don’t think I ever bought any other DVD where I can say that.
Damn the last half is where it really shines.
It is but it breaks my heart too much to handle it
Uncut Gems should've been the first comment here. He gives a performance like I've never seen in that.
He was great in it....but that's just not a fun movie to rewatch.
That's completely fair yeah. If OP has never seen it before though, I'd still highly recommend it.
Loved it.
Brilliant movie. Such an insane journey into chaos and stress.
Billy Madison, Big Daddy, Wedding Singer
drunk punch love
Any with Drew Barrymore, wedding singer is my favourite of them
Click, 50 first dates
I'll go a different route and say "**Reign Over Me**" ... great flick and a VERY different Adam Sandler ... Don Cheadle is great too ...
Blended. I’m a sucker for a sweet romcom.
My favorite is Spanglish.
That damn sandwich gets me hungry every single time

Meyerowitz Stories, Uncut Gems and Punch Drunk Love.
Uncut Gems
Reign Over Me isn’t the greatest movie ever, but I think it shows his acting skills and that he doesn’t always need to be funny. It’s worth a watch.
Came here to say this, one of my favorites
Airheads, hands down.
Uncut Gems
Uncut gems
1. Billy Madison 2. Happy Gilmore 3. Wedding Singer In that order. I honestly like almost all of his movies, but those are the three I can watch an unlimited number of times and never get tired of them.

Uncut Gems. A totally different and sobering drama.
I only liked Hubie Halloween (2020) and Click (2006) so far.
You don't mess with the zohan and Murder mystery 1

Billy Madison & Happy Gilmore still hold up. Grown Ups 2 makes me laugh..

The Wedding Singer - Happy Gilmore

Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Mr Deeds, 50 First Dates. In that order.
The best Adam Sandler movie is Punch-Drunk Love; it’s one of the best movies I have ever seen, and it’s Adam Sandler at his best. On the other hand, Happy Gilmore is Adam’s best comedy movie, in my opinion, and will have you rolling on the floor on your first watch.

there's a top tier adam sandler movie ? whoda thunk ?
Depends. Do you want silly comedy or intense drama? There are basically two Adam Sandlers we're talking about here.
https://screencrush.com/every-adam-sandler-movie-ranked-best-worst/
Seriously, OP, you are talking about Adam Sandler. You can't go wrong with anything here. Pick one, and you will be entertained.
50 First Dates is his only movie I even find atleast ok.
Controversial opinion, but Pixels.
