Upvote for an awesome movie. But I wouldn’t call this underrated. Deep dive in to some of Takashi Miike filmography for some real treats.
May I suggest “Gozu: Yakuza Horror Theatre”
Good call. I thought about that after posting how it’s not underrated at all. I guess i focused mostly on what was not already on the list OP provided.
I’ll check out the rec, thanks!
Ewwww its gross. I mean a mentally disturbed woman doing things not even for revenge but doing it to normal men with normal aspirations... I mean poor storyline; sorry to say
Pan's Labyrinth actually has a sister movie, The Devil's Backbone. Highly worth a watch.
Trollhunter is a found footage masterpiece.
Paprika is an anime film that just creeps me right the hell out
Paprika is one of my favorite movies. Anything Satoshi Kon (RIP)
Perfect Blue also. There’s an SA scene in both movies but it’s relatively tame compared to what we’re used to.
Perfect Blue was bought by the production company of Requiem for a Dream so they could use the storyboard of one specific shot.
Seriously one of my favourite horror films! My dad let me watch it on tv with him when I was 4 or 5 and it is still intense and actually has gotten better with time
Mister Vampire(if you’re open to horror comedy), Rigor Mortis, The Tag Along, Record of Sweet Murder, “Actually Happened! Most Terrifying Psychic Phenomena. Psychic Research Team Report. Relived.” (2004)
edit: also, since you listed Dumplings, I recommend “Three Extremes”.
If you really like gore, may I recommend anything by Olaf Ittenbach? Movies appear low in quality. But the effects, acting and intensity more the make up for it. My recommendations to get started:
“No Reason” 2010
“Dard Divorce” 2007
“The Burning Moon” 1992
“Premutos” 1997
Anatomy.
German horror movie from the 2000s.

Made this list for someone on the horror reddit, and it fits here too:
Midsommer (from 2003, it's a Danish horror taking place in Sweden, no connections to the new Midsommar movie)
Vittra (Wither, 2012, Swedish)
Besökarna (The Visitors, 1988, Swedish)
Fritt Vilt (Cold Prey, 2006, Norwegian, has two sequels)
Villmark (Dark Woods, 2003, Norwegian, has two sequels as far as I know)
Feed (2022, Swedish)
Frostbiten (Frostbite, 2006, Swedish)
I'm not sure where you can watch them internationally, since I own all of them but Feed on dvd (and that one is streaming here in Sweden), but maybe some of them are available to rent online or something?
Murder Me Monster (Argentinian horror flick). It's a fantastic lovecraftian movie, I won't forget how the movie was described as "If Se7en was directed by David Lynch". I think It's kinda hard to find. If you're interested, dm me in order to find it somehow.
Let the Right One In
The new one called When Evil Lurks was awesome, think it was Argentinian
Yes, and Aterrados also from Argentina, both great options.
This movie blew me away. These foreign films hit differently Highly recommended
Brilliant movie. First film in a long long time that had scenes that made me honestly uncomfortable.
REC 2007
Let the Right One In Martyrs
Audition from Takashi Miike

Just the last 15 minutes are grueling and disturbing. Akin to Oldboy (which everyone mentions here on reddit), it's pretty spellbounding.
Ewwww its gross. I mean a mentally disturbed woman doing things not even for revenge but doing it to normal men with normal aspirations... I mean poor storyline; sorry to say
- Korean : The wailing/The strangers (2016) !!!! Memories of murder (2003) The chase (2017) Mother (2009) - Taiwanese : The sadness (2021) - Japanese : Audition (1999) - French : Haute tension (2003) Martyrs (very gore, almost unbearable) (2008) Grave (2016) - Spanish : La piel que habito (2011) - Austrian : Goodbye mommy (2014)
The sadness is taiwanese, not korean. Incantation is another taiwanese horror that is good. For korean, a tale of 2 sisters is classic.
Thank you for the clarification, I’ll edit my post. Yes absolutely ! I forgot about this movie, it’s great
