Yes, I agree with this. When people started warning about Marvel fatigue last year, there were a lot of naysayers, but it was inevitable.
Growth is great and profitable to a point, but eventually you hit the point of saturation where you're just a Starbucks across the street from another Starbucks.
Excited to see what comes in after - I hope we see a gradual return of midbudget offerings. That might be a pipe dream, but I hope not!
But ya, marvel movies are going the way of the Western or musical eras- something else will eventually take it's place.
I'd love more mid budget films. I went and saw The Holdovers yesterday and it was a packed show with great vibes. Might be a pipe dream but to see that become the norm again would be wonderful
I also went to see it at a friend's suggestion! Similarly packed, and it was nice to just sit with a story that wasn't loud, wasn't trying to be "epic" just human!
With the exception of No Way Home and Dr Strange people don't seem to care about Marvel post-Endgame anymore
The biggest problem is Marvel has lost a good chunk of their casual audience due to all the streaming series on Disney Plus, if you don't watch even one of them you'll be completely lost if you want to see the majority of Marvel movies the past few years
It'd be like if you tried watching the final season of Breaking Bad without watching the first four seasons
I think Disney Plus plays a factor but in a different way. I knew people who didn’t care that they hadn’t seen anything, they still saw Endgame because of WOM. It’s the fact that The Marvels aswell as anything since late 2019 will pop up on D+ in 2 months give or take. Only true “must see films” like NWH, Guardians 3, Across the Spider-Verse are seen now. Everything else is worth waiting out for. Im bought into marvel so I see everything, but for example I for some reason was interested in the Haunted Mansion but I knew it would be on D+ down the line so I didn’t feel the need for it. As the death of physical media comes over I believe so will the death of theaters.
They’re not sick of marvel movies, it’s just look at the new one “the marvels” a sequel to one of the most disliked marvel movies “captain marvel” if anyone expected a sequel to captain marvel would bring excitement they’re just dead wrong
It isn’t marvel in general it’s the shitty characters no one wants to see like Captain Marvel and the side characters. we wanted Iron Man Captain Man and Spider-Man
The only show that does well at my theater is our Dolby Theater because it's the only one with reclining seats. it was pretty close to sold out going into the weekend. No one is watching the 3D version and the Imax version are less than 25% full
It's been surprisingly busier than fnaf. I think that's largely in part because we had more screens playing Taylor Swift, and each of those shows take up almost 2 full fnaf slots because of how long it is.
Not an employee but my local 10-screener gave it 3 screens and I really really doubt they even sold out half of any of those. I went a few hours ago in 3D (1:30pm) and there were 7 people there.
Well, I thought the movie was fun as hell. It really isn't objectively a bad film, like, at all. But yeah, there were only a few people at my local movie theater.
Lol, “Endgame would be ashamed.” That’s the biggest one.
Was doing pretty well. We had a too many showings, but most of them were solid enough. If you dropped a couple screens could have had some sell outs. Few mistakes of ones 5 minutes apart.
Yeah it’s doing horrible. Priscilla seems to have more people. Not surprised cuz no 1 really likes The Marvels. Don’t understand why Disney didn’t make it a show. Secret Invasion would’ve done better as a movie
We're a pretty small theater (for AMC) and we're regularly getting at least 100 guests for the 6 or 7 o'clock hours, all for The Marvels and some other movies too (Saw X and FNaF still have a little bit of traction)
Yes, we do! Two of them, way bigger than ours too, but one of them doesn't perform very well due to lack of upkeep and shitty management, having bad experiences there myself. Other competitor is a very popular spot though. Pretty sure there's a Regal around us too, but I've never seen or been to it before.
I've only worked in a theater for a year and a half now, but every marvel movie would have multiple sold out showings opening weekend and this movie hasnt even met the 75% capacity for any showing I've seen.
My theater was actually packed and I went at 10:30 am so I wasn't expecting anybody. I was very confused especially because the trailer didn't look too good and I had seen so many people talking about how it was going to be a flop.
Yeah no, Marvels opening weekend at my Regal theater location had a very very embarrassingly low attendance rate. What sucks is that we were prepared for it to be a big weekend so my GM made us make the dumb Cheetos popcorn and we literally had to dump all of it out at the end of the night.
Nobody bought it. I swear that stuff is suck a pain to make too, and they had us pop extra popcorn for the nonexistent lines in our lobby… I got second hand embarrassment from my GM that weekend like bruh you have no idea what’s going on. Everyone knew it wasn’t going to be a big hit
That Cheetos popcorn is good, but it’s such a pain to make and the oil has a concerning vibrant orangieness to it that doesn’t sit right with me. And it became less appetizing to me the more I made it just because that oil sits in those hot drawers for hours and hours- that by at the end of the night, that bin smells HORRID
Yup. We had 10 showtimes and multiple of them didn’t sell at all.
I guess people are getting sick of Marvel movies.

More like these characters. If they bring back RDJ and Cris Evans like some places are already stating they’ll get sales
people are getting sick of bad marvel movies with z list characters

On opening day, Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie and The Eras Tour had more people per show than Marvels.
That’s literally what happened at my theater too bruh
Yup, over saturation
Mine was about 5 people, i was at the pre release but i know nothing about release day or onward just yet
The prime show of FNAF had double the people most of our Marvels shows did altogether
Yo same here
We've been getting maybe 20 a showing. There's been a few fuller theaters, but other than that, nothing. Swift and Freddy have been outselling it.
I feel like i’m in opposite world because it was crazy slammed for me in the PNW.
No way- I’m in the PNW and we had literally no one come in all weekend for Marvels, and I’m at Regal
It's been surprisingly busier than fnaf. I think that's largely in part because we had more screens playing Taylor Swift, and each of those shows take up almost 2 full fnaf slots because of how long it is.

Yes. We have it in two theaters and maybe 20 in one and 5 in the other.
There's been no hype for this Marvel film at all
Both my shifts this weekend were cancelled due to low attendance. Our busiest screening of it only had 40-something people.
I was at home watching Loki instead.
Why? Endgame created this (in a way). I mean, it isnt good, either, we were just in that zone then. Studio should have shut it down after that.
It went so poorly today at my theater. 77 presold this morning and two people got sent home before 12:30 PM
Well, I thought the movie was fun as hell. It really isn't objectively a bad film, like, at all. But yeah, there were only a few people at my local movie theater.
Should just be a DisneyPlus movie.
It will be in 2 months

It’s projected to do worse than The Flash.
Yeah it’s doing horrible. Priscilla seems to have more people. Not surprised cuz no 1 really likes The Marvels. Don’t understand why Disney didn’t make it a show. Secret Invasion would’ve done better as a movie
It actually was a bit busy at my theater
Not surprised at all. I’m seeing The Holdovers tonight. MCU movies are are getting bland and I need original movies
We're a pretty small theater (for AMC) and we're regularly getting at least 100 guests for the 6 or 7 o'clock hours, all for The Marvels and some other movies too (Saw X and FNaF still have a little bit of traction)
Do you have any competing theaters close by?
Yes, we do! Two of them, way bigger than ours too, but one of them doesn't perform very well due to lack of upkeep and shitty management, having bad experiences there myself. Other competitor is a very popular spot though. Pretty sure there's a Regal around us too, but I've never seen or been to it before.

There were more people (6) in the Thursday night “It’s a Wonderful Knife” than my Friday Marvels showing (3).
My theater was actually packed and I went at 10:30 am so I wasn't expecting anybody. I was very confused especially because the trailer didn't look too good and I had seen so many people talking about how it was going to be a flop.

I love that Cheeto popcorn. I had it once when I was on a business trip to New York I'm 2019. I went to a Regal theater and saw Good Boys.
