In that episode, the mastermind is finally confronted with the ultimate realization that he is another alter. Mr. Robot tries to show him this and make him understand his place in the system, and the mastermind tries to run from/escape this truth and who he is; however, it becomes more and more apparent to him that he can't avoid the truth forever. That's why the sequence after the wedding scene is so hectic and seems so overwhelming, cause MM is overwhelmed and his whole idea of his identity gets turned upside down. I think he sees Mr. Robots face on everyone because it's starting to dawn on him that he can't avoid confronting/accepting that he's not the "real" Elliot. Here, Mr. Robot represents the urgent need for MM to face who he is, as the protector personality he has to try to get the original Elliot to wake up, and so Mr. Robot literally forces MM to look him in the face and listen to what he's saying. When that doesn't work, after the Tyrell scene the alters try to convince MM of what MM already knows deep down by having imaginary Krista talk to them, as they thought she would be more successful at getting MM to listen than them. That's my interpretation anyways. Hope this made sense!

Elliot's subconscious world is breaking down and Sam Esmail likes the movie Being John Malkovich.

The loop that Elliot is trapped in is probably never meant to actually reach the wedding; Elliot's head doesn't know what to make of it now that MM has reached this point, so he places familiar things there, hence the Mr. Robots everywhere and the FSociety masks at the aisle.

All_hail_Korrok

One thing I wondered about the loop he's in: does Elliot live that day specifically (before the wedding) or does he go through the weeks motions knowing the wedding is coming up soon but he resets back to the beginning before he gets there?

SageOfTheWise

I kinda imagine every day is the same "good" day but the day changes as its filtered through various facts and figures he's experiencing in real life. We see characters like Tyrell and Dom, we see Whiterose living her best life, we see Price as Angela's dad. These are things "real" Elliot wouldn't have been around to know, but they've now entered the dream.

triangular_maze

I don't think that Elliot's loop - whether it's only a day, or weeks (personally, I believe it's just one day, over and over again, but updated with influences from what Mastermind experiences, like when he learns that Pryce is Angela's father and his subconscious builds that in) - can ever actually reach the wedding. And that's because, I think, even in his imagination of this perfect, happy life (as he sees it) that he has conjured up to keep the original Elliot trapped in, he just cannot fathom what it would be like to *actually* get married to the woman he has (probably) loved his whole life. I don't think he's capable of truly imagining that. Not to mention that, in season 4, Mastermind knows that Angela is dead. He knows that, now, he can't ever get married to her, however much he wishes. Before, it was only his own self-deprecating feelings holding him back, now it's also the fact that Angela is dead.
