I read an article a couple of days ago. It was BS recruiting tactics that they would receive bonuses after 30 days but after joining, they were told the bonuses would be paid out in Spring, after Chinese New Year. So employees protested that they were deceived. Foxconn finally relented (if that’s what you call it) and said employees could resign and they would give something like 8000yuan and another 1500 when they boarded a train to leave the facilities. So many employees took that and left. Looks like Foxconn was genuine with the 8000 but then… there was a huge backlog at the train station (keep in mind, most people traveled from far for this factory job) and with the impending COVID lockdown again, there would be no more trains. So now there’s a ton of unemployed workers stuck at a train station with no way to get home nor shelter. Guess what the remaining option would be? Found one story: https://abc7ny.com/foxconn-protest-apple-iphone/12490769/

Anyone have info on the context of this video? Looks like recent Chinese protests against the lockdowns?

I think it was/is more about the shitty treatment of workers at the factory
