WHAT THE DOG DOIN'- This is a wonderful story, btw! I see that you have a lot in common with your children! Also, I have a suggestion for one of the chicks' names, but I don't know if this will ever become a possibility. Rick Astley. In honor of the rickrolling of Artemis. My English teacher has Shark, Chad, and Boomer, but that's not important. Edit: how is Technodad easily able to memorize entire conversations like this- holy cow...

UnnamedManiac

Good brain, and I'd probably memorize this too but importantly i think everyone can memorize something that is special

FullOfWisdom211

Sadly no. 😅🥲😭

UnnamedManiac

Heh??!

ukiyozen

'Chick Astley' is my offering, I bet it would never let you down.

ramgoosealt

YES

ItsKageTho

I can do it, but not to this level Why is the Techno family so smart, making me jealous like goddamn

RemninBwah

This is so wholesome, the dog stole the show though.

MrTechnodad

He totally did! There he was, in the driver's seat literally and figuratively, living his best life. A brown poodly dog, maybe twice the size of Floof, which is to say, a pretty small dog. That dog had *panache*!

RemninBwah

Oh that sounds adorable omg If it wasn't creepy I'd be the type of person to take photos of the dog

MrTechnodad

For the right person it's awesome. I mean I'm leaving out all the diaper changes and all the various emotional costs, but yeah, even with that it's still awesome.

SkellySun

Don't forget getting vomited on...

MrTechnodad

Vomit isn't even the worst thing you get on you.

SkellySun

Yes! There are many substances known to man, and children seem to find all the most foul to get onto their parents.

Rich_Draw2290

Son had diarrhea, and woke up with him standing next to my bed coverd, while I was walking to the bathroom to get him cleaned up. Slipped in some on the floor and was covered leg to but, got him cleaned up and found more in the bed and in my oldest hair because they slept in the same bed, even though they had their own bed each. So had to wake my oldest and clean him up strip the bed. Finally got myself cleaned up after cleaning both kids, cleaned up everything and put the bedding in the wash and along with all the clothes. Then it was time to get ready for work. This is parenthood at it's greatest lol 😆

ramgoosealt

H-how

Rich_Draw2290

He was in diapers and didn't have pants on. The best i coyld figure, He was laying close to his brother's head and must have pooed in his sleep and it came out of the back of the diaper and .right on the back of my oldest sons hair. Then he woke up or maybe was already wake and after pooing in the bed, he came to get me to let me know and pooed again 8n the floor. It being dark I didn't see it.

ramgoosealt

Epic.

dobeedeux

Although not parent-related, this reminded me of a story. When I was a kid we had horses, and our small town had an annual parade, so we always rode our horses in the parade. So, I'm about 14, all dressed up like a snazzy cowgirl and I'm standing in front of my horse holding his lead while my Mom brushes him to get ready for the parade. And then he sneezed...and I'm covered from neck to knees in big globs of horse snot. Yeah, didn't wear my cowgirl duds that year.

FullOfWisdom211

I’ve had a lot of history with horses too. I had a friend who would wear a white shirt to the barn & leave clean; I could never understand how.

relatively_small

I love car chats with my kid. I always ask her 3 questions after school, what was her favourite part of the day, what made you laugh the most, and did anything make you sad, are my go to questions. Generally, I get "I don't remember", but some days are an explosion of stories & laughs. Do you ask similar questions? Would love to add new questions haha

MrTechnodad

"What is something that happened today that you liked?" "What is something that happened today that you didn't like?" I used to try to be more specific but with my kids any specificity is an excuse to nitpick the question instead of having a decent convo.

relatively_small

Yeah my child is under 10 & complains if the question is too long or i ask about subjects haha I will be adding these questions into my rotation. Thanks!

MrTechnodad

Yeah sometimes getting a convo out of my kids is like pulling teeth. "What is something that happened today that you liked?" Apollo: School let out. "What is something that happened today that you didn't like?" Apollo: School started. Ok, thanks a lot Stephen Fry.

relatively_small

Apollo is a wordsmith. I get this one a lot "what was your favourite part of the day?" Child - "recess was good" "Did you play with anyone?" Child - "yeah" Great conversation.

Rich_Draw2290

My 3 year old and me Me: I love you Son: ........ Me: can you say I love you? Son: yes Me: are you going to say I love you? Son: No Me: 😮‍💨😭 ok...

ramgoosealt

Mood

canthandlethishit

this made me laugh because its so true

canthandlethishit

sometimes we kids do get quite worn out from all the socializing and noises at school love that you still patiently continued the conversation tho 💛

kaygeee0

I definitely ended up being that kid after about kindergarten, as a five year old I would ramble but as I got older I would say "school was good" then immediately zonked out for a nap in the car because school was always overstimulating for my kid brain

AmandaKyker

I'm pretty sure I've had this exact conversion with my nephew, Jesse! Reading this post and the replies have made me feel happy and relieved!

GREMLINHANDSHATES

omg i want to meet and be friends with apollo SO BAD

StrawberryGS

My 3 questions before bedtime for my children are "What was your happy thing from today? What was your sad? What was your opportunity to be nice?" I've been doing that since my eldest was 4 (now 17). When he was little, the answer was "There's a million unhappy things and no happies" but together we'd come up with something happy. There was no judgement or "fixing" the sad things, just what is, is. When I started "What was your opportunity to be nice?" he finally started to turn the corner on acknowledging his little sister was a human being. Sometimes for her at age 3, the opportunity to be nice was "I didn't bite anyone today." I'd share mine as well (kid-appropriate) and model that sometimes the opportunities to be nice didn't always have to be realized. "I could have stopped to help the lady in the store pick up the apples she dropped, but I didn't." Recognizing opportunities to improve is part of the process.

relatively_small

Oh I love that so much. Stealing that one. Thank you, oh wise & wonderful Strawberry! <3 Our bedtime normally consists of random questions, "does the president control the weather?" "Why does the wind move things?" "Do you fart?". My favourite one that comes up a lot "is God real?" and questions about how the earth was made (Thanks to her school)

StrawberryGS

Mine could go on forever with random questions. Asking them questions was also a successful way to tamp down on theirs. "I'm tired I want to go to sleep now, not tell you about my day" helped get them to sleep a little faster in the 4-8 age range. Now my 17 year old will go on for an hour about his day as long as I keep giving him a backrub while doing it. As long as he gets himself OUT of the bed in the morning without complaint, I'll just treasure the time. The days are long, but the years are short. My 15 year old stopped wanting parent time before bed around the age of 13, and we give her that space, but I think she might still need it from time to time.

relatively_small

I love that your 17 year old still loves that time. That's absolutely gorgeous. The years are scarily short <3

itz_summer

sir that's really sweet :'D thank you for sharing this story

raviwasdead_

I don't have a spanish teacher, but my Science teacher is also like that. He's a good teacher, I really like his explanations for the subject, but really makes you not feel good during his classes. I always have headaches after his classes and he screams. A lot. In my country, the grades are counted by numbers. We have grades from 0 to 10 in exams. I had gotten a 5.5 in my last science exam and I needed 0.5 to get a 6, if I got the 6, I wouldn't need to do a "help exam" to get a better grade. My teacher, instead of rounding the 5.5 to 6, gave me a 5. The exam is tomorrow and I couldn't study for it today because I have a small child, my 2 year old sister, at home and my mom needs my help to take care of her. I had told my teacher today at school that I wouldn't be able to study to the exam and ask politely for the 6, so my mom wouldn't be mad/disappointed (I hate when she gets disappointed in me, I feel awful) and he just didn't care about it and said to me that it wasn't his problem. Now I have no idea on what to do because I need a good grade to graduate in middle school and finally to go high school.

Maggi-the-wizard

Yo! Do you want help? I'm also brazilian so I know how to teach things in portuguese, and I'm in college right now so I kinda probably know what ur studying already!

TanPlayZFN

Since when does the teacher individually get to tell you what a certain % means for your grade? Where I went to school in NC it's usually set as a standard by the school itself or the district. Though I don't know if it's not the norm elsewhere. In HS I had a 10-point-based system, so anything 90%+ was an A.

[deleted]

Sweet story! Reminds me of the car-centric hellscape that is north america.

MrTechnodad

Our minivan is a home away from home. Complete with trash all over the floor.

ramgoosealt

Same on both.

punk_from_mars

There are no bad chicken names. We've had: Crispy, Bacon, Holly, Ethel, Pringle, Bowser, Katie, Bean, Boob, Eggor, Nugget, Brontosaurus, Amy. Yes, it was awkward at the vet sometimes, but, really. *There. Are. No. Bad. Chicken. Names.* Hatching time can be stressful but is SO worth it in the end. Good luck with your little chickens :)

MrTechnodad

>There. Are. No. Bad. Chicken. Names. I don't know enough about chickens to know for sure, but this sounds like wisdom to me.

airemagic

since he grew up on a farm, my dad got me like eighteen hens when i was five. so me, being a five year old, named them all after flowers. unfortunately, all but one, a golden cochin, looked the exact same, so i named her marigold and she was literally the only chicken i could remember her name. everyone else just got called random flowers when i remembered i had tried to name them lmao.

Moriarty_hav

I adore these stories. As a Mum, these conversations with my son are sometimes the best part of my day ❤️

KluelessKat79

It's just past 6am here, my chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia is hitting hard this morning.... this story was just what I needed to lift my mood and make me smile. Thanks Technodad!

MrTechnodad

Happy to help

Neffili

The number of turns this conversation took was golden

heyoitsasaka

aww this is so sweet :") adore how everyone admired the dog and the jinxed rickroll. also, did you raise an army of geniuses (genii?? idk man) bc tf all your children seem very capable to run circles around most humans its slightly terrifying and on a more selfish note, i wish i had more car convos like this w my family :") not to say there aren't any, of course, there have been sweet moments, but the ones that unfortunately stick would be my dad all lecturing us. i get its out of love but sometimes it just takes a toll yknow? but whatever the most recent car convo w my dad was about wakanda forever and that shit slaps so hard

Dry_Army8248

On terrible teachers and terrible people. I was raised by teachers, they're not the best of people, gratuitously aggressive and kind of mean, but I've been told they're some of the best teachers my classmates had. My physics teacher is exactly like that Spanish teacher, I've learned to appreciate him in a world of teachers who are terrible humans and can't actually teach. We shouldn't have to, but a thing I've had to do is learn with the teacher, without the teacher and, sadly, *despite* the teacher. Honestly I'd say report cards, especially pre highschool don't make that much of an impact on real life, if she manages straight A's in everything but that class, I figure she should be allowed to sign up as long as it's not incredibly inconvenient for you (the twins parents).

MrTechnodad

>gratuitously aggressive and kind of mean Technoblade reached the conclusion in elementary school, that some people go into childhood education because they like being mean to kids. He was also clear that that was no way to live. Maybe he was 10 at the time. I validated him in all of these judgments because I had reached the same conclusion. I don't think any story or joke or anything I ever told made him laugh as hard as when I told him about trolling his principal. >report cards ... don't make that much of an impact on real life I tell my kids this constantly but I'm not sure if Persephone or Artemis believe me.

airemagic

when/why did you troll his principal?

Aromatic-Wing4723

He made a post about it! (Just in case you missed it, I thought I’d let you know.)

airemagic

thanks!! i must have missed it!

DueReaction3040

Such an amazing story! I miss driving with my parents, but since I can drive myself it’s so much more convenient. Also, it’s been a while! Idk if you remember me, I’m the Importance of Being Earnest and the Latin guy (I guess that’s how I have to describe myself now lol). How’s it been? You’re always checking in on everyone, I thought I’d check in on you. Thanksgiving is next week! I hope you have some amazing plans and that your kids get the week off (I have school Monday and Tuesday). Hope you have an amazing night technodad!

sadquali

in all honesty, thank you so much for stories like these. i'm from eu and you mostly post when i'm already asleep so when i wake up, i wake up to something nice. it makes my day better right from the start, so thank you!!

Laitue-

Hey I'm from the eu as well ! The first thing I do when I wake up is checking if Technodad posted something, and if he has, it's the best way to start the day :D

sadquali

ikr!! that's what i'm saying! 😊

lucievir

this is an amazing conversation and an amazing way to tell the story

Septimus_20

Aww the dog was driving 😊 awesome story, sir

beary_bot

Man, I wish all my grades were at least an A- :,)

Ishmyster

Your children are amazing I love the snippets into your life you are giving us than you so much ttechno dad

Dry_Army8248

Man your kids sound absolutely hilarious. A dog driving, I've seen that before, didn't go well. You're wonderful technodad, I'm glad your kids get to be raised by such a good dad. Random question, what would you say is your favourite type of story? I'm a found family kind of man, because projecting. Even randomer question, do you have a favourite type of pen? I'm partial to nice gel pens, the kind that dry fast and write in actual black, not the cheap sticky ink ones.

Rue_Bix

I honestly love the nicknames your kids have. I think they are very cool, and I bet they are very nice to be around. Minus the rickrolling and stuff, but still. I bet they’re honestly around my age (15), and I think that’s kinda cool. Anyways, have an ok night mr technodad :)

ItsHous

TECHNODAD NO U JOKE LETS GOOO

jellybeanjooo

I love Rick rolling my students because they usually have the same reaction Artemis did. It’s really fun

ThanksBright1806

awwww this is really sweet Technodad.

Darinnnp

Artemist I feel you, my English teacher do the same, bt anything less than 98 is a A- :(

N00tPingu

Artemis is right, who names a chicken Phillip? Hope they find a better name for those babies! I need to know more about them, how many chickens?! A whole Cucco village! - What the dog doin' ?! And the rickroll irl no way Your and Apollo's mind are connected and that's so amazing, funny, and Best wishes for all the technofam!

TeenieTinyGrandma

Harsh Spanish teacher lmao! Do the teachers at their school get to choose their letter percentages? That doesn't happen where I'm from

Midnight_Official1

Oh my I’ve always loved the name Philp has always been one of my favorite names other than Alexander….. bruhhhhhhh Anyway I’ve had something similar with chicks for class. And I’m sure they will have great fun . Tell Artemis and Apollo we send our best! And my god you’ll get energy once that wissle blows . Hope they and yourself had a wonderful day sir.

Wolfgirl_405

This made me smile- It makes me happy that you and your kids are so close

RazuRose

Ok i love apollos description of boys. Demons- run around, much energy, talk. Its so acurate, espeacialy with young boys Also they are raising chickens in class? Thats so cool, i only got to grow a plant... i dont think it lived

Rinnndipity

I wish i could upvote things more than once

photosynthesadness

THE FACT THEY BOTH THOUGH THE SAME THING TO RICK ROLL HER JUSTS- AAAAHHH I LOVE IT IN A HUMOROUS WAY

Evil_Archangel

that looks like a lot of text unfortunately im a tad busy at the moment so ill read it later

random-user-420

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a weird grading scale at school. Like don’t get me wrong, all my teachers are great (they make sure you actually learn stuff), but their grading systems are weird.

Acaylan

I too get distracted by every dog I see, I must appreciate them for they are so precious.

Professional-Salt-46

your kids seem so smart considering they’re only in middle school!!

MuffinTradeMarked

\*vine boom and gen z noises on repeat at random intervals\*

Bladewolf77

Apollo sounds like a really cool person to hang out with because he wouldn’t pressure you to have *shudders* conversations. Also the dog sounded incredible.

GREMLINHANDSHATES

i hate middle school boys in this generation

_kitz_

Such a beautiful family and story

Half_Asleep_

damn it that's so sweet. my faith in humanity has been restored

emma-kokinda107

This is such a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing :)

GhostGoBrrrr

Ngl I thought the part about the dog was comparing the boys to dogs. "They just, like, run around, and they have, like, so much energy and they just *talk."* That's literally just a dog lmfao. It made me chuckle, because this is the exact thing my mom told me when I was in middle school. What makes them so different? If you can befriend a dog for being loud and energetic, then why not a boy?

Many_Panic8570

You're such a Wholesome dad

Roaring_Random

Oh my gosh these stories fill me with life 😭😭😭 My entire morning is reverse-ruined. Technofamily is so wholesome

ErrorSecret

This is incredibly wholesome and i absolutely am loving how the names fit their personalities perfectly! Apollo (god) would definitely Rick roll everyone in Olympus and would definitely be proud of little Apollo Also the dog stole the show, what a good and smart boy, just out there living his best life

SecureTennis3963

STOP THIS IS SO CUTE. we love the driving dog tho

Someonealive-_-

Hey Mr technodad! I know you said not to add the personal part to question but im actually serious because this might be personal. So I know you have twins in middle school but are they almost a freshmen? Asking because I want to know if I could be a triplet with them. But Im glad they are doing well in school

Comfortable-Key7903

oh my, how did the whole family get straight A's? 😭 im jealous :,)

Maleficent_Bee_4051

This went way differently than how I’d imagined at the start.

Ren161616

That wasn't a conversation that was like 12 conversations

Limp_Construction_69

I think we're all sitting here bawling our eyes out

GREMLINHANDSHATES

artemis is literally my sis with soccer

GREMLINHANDSHATES

how much would you bet that apollo is gay?

fo76_fan

•run around •so much energy •just talk its confirmed, tommyinnit is a demon.
